Endless Legend and Endless Space always pull me into their magical sci-fi worlds. The music, the lore and the faction videos make for such a unique and immersive experience. First playthrough is definitely recommended without DLCs. They're really good and worth it imo, but they can overcomplicate things at first, as the base game has a lot of features, especially if you haven't Endless Space before.

The Endless Space games are pretty solid. Definitely some high production values in ES2 compared to most games in the genre.

The multiplayer of this game is exceptionally well-designed. You might want to consider putting together a multiplayer game with some of your KZbin buddies like you guys did with Dominions. The factions are even more different in play style than the Dominions factions are, so there's a lot of interesting dynamic interaction. Also, only the host of the game needs to have the DLC's in order for everyone to play with them, so it doesn't need to be a huge expense for all participants. On normal speed, you can expect a multiplayer game to last about three 3-4 hour sessions. I've played several games with my group of friends. We'll all be in voice chat while we're playing, and it's great because the turns are simultaneous, and there's always more useful stuff you can do even if you're one of the first people to finish all your actions first. You can (and should) set up the game so that there are timers both for turns and battles. The norm with my friends is to always ask if everyone else is okay with you manually fighting battles (as opposed to auto-ing them) before you choose to do so because a battle that hasn't yet resolved will stop the turn from rolling over. But even when you manually fight battles, the design is great because it doesn't slow down anything else happening, and you can even attend to doing other stuff in your empire if you finish your battle commands before your opponent does. Whether you do a multiplayer game or not, if you play Endless Legend again, I strongly suggest installing the Endless Legend Community Patch (ELCP). It makes numerous essential balancing changes to the game that imbue it with far more interesting strategic decisions. (There are many comparably good strategies, rather than one that's obviously better than the others.) It also adds a lot of quality of life improvements, like allowing you to speed up unit animations. If you do play a multiplayer game, I would also strongly suggest turning off the "diplomatic" and "shared" victory types. Even with ELCP, diplomatic victories are too easy to achieve, and not allowing shared victories makes alliances more interesting because they're necessarily temporary. (Though you can still have two winners if two players independently achieve victory on the same turn.)

Endless Legend remains the apex of the Endless games, to me. It did so many interesting things with its systems. And PRETTY. God, so colorful and beautiful.

It has several problems however. For example the diplomatic victory vs AI is extremely easy and fast to obtain.

@@Scarletraven87 Well, yeah. Sadly, I don't think the AI is particularly strong in the game, but it IS a great game! Just sadly a bit weak on the challenge front. Also, your name parsed to Doran Martell; rock on.

Absolute GEM of a game! (Endless in general are wonderful games) They really changed up the dynamic of the cliche factions (the spell caster faction...oh, they love getting into melee and use pain through masochism to power their spells) The flavor texts and atmosphere/music are beautiful. Still a favorite of mine.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an announcement soon. I’ve seen other companies do a freebie sale, then shortly after announce the new one. It seems to be an easy way to get attention for wishlists

@@Nookrium they did this before in 2021 (when endless space was also free) (1) and no announcement arose from it. Only chatter and speculation. Would be great though. (1) Admittedly this is when I got into the whole "Endless" games. As I got ES2 and EL1 for free.

Highly recommend trying out the Endless Legend community patch (ELCP) - Adds and fixes a ton with the base game and in general is a major improvement over vanilla.

Endless legends is free? Damn, I played this game so much, REALLY great. I hope the devs find their touch againm their last games are too "meh" for my tastes, but this is gold.

I couldn't get into this game when it first came out. The UI is clean and well thought out, but I always felt it lacked a soul. Maybe it is better now?
