I loved how, by setting up the backstory of the Endless' split, it fleshes out the factions to be just so much more than "dudes who prefer abstract stuff" and "dudes who prefer material stuff". Great narration work too btw, congrats.

Hey everybody, Just to let you all know, I am still alive and as well as I could be considering the times we live in. I do not currently have the tools or software to start making/creating/uploading content right now. For perspective, I currently cannot play any Endless games. That’s not to say I wouldn’t like to come back, however. On the contrary, it’s something I fantasise about quite frequently. When that will be is down to luck, fate, or maybe even how soon the apocalypse happens. If I were to return, it currently could not be creating videos of the same “quality” as the Endless Lore videos. But.... i could make other lore videos about games/worlds I AM able to play. Is that something that people might like? I’m sorry for being gone so long.

@Liam Fitzsimons I'd like to reply to you directly but for some reason KZbin won't allow me to. Well, we know that there are at least two living Endless alive at the time of ES, and that their technology not only works but is also operational in DotE. So, yeah, I reckon Amplitude are going either make an add-on or another game and there will be a small Endless faction in it. The Universe is the nearest to infinite thing we know, so they sure could be out there somewhere :)

a lot of new information has been released since your question was asked but i think i know the answer. the narrator of two recent trailers for Endless Space 2, A New Beginning and Sohpons'/Vodyani's Vision is a Virtual Endless that has survived by hiding himself and perhaps others inside of dust. notice that in these trailers the narrator is talking about the origin and future of life/dust, respectively. the slogan of the game is a giveaway, "Your Vision, Their Future" - a being's thirst for dust is predictable but it has now been corrupted and will hail the return of the Endless. this idea is really tied together in launch trailer, Pathfinders. the narrator here is the heretic and main character of the game, he knows this and so he seeks to reset the galactic cycle of life to restore dust to its former glory. in the game you learn from him that the Endless destroyed their gods long ago and took their dust for themselves.

The Vodyani were fleshy mortals who were on the verge of destroying their own world similar to Tor, until they came across the virtual mind-uploading technology the Virtual Endless used to transfer their conscience into a virtual state. The Vodyani then used that same technology to do that exact same thing to themselves, and then proceeded to become very religious, worshipping the Virtual Endless as near deities who brought them salvation in their moment of need. tl;dr the Vodyani had nothing to do with the Dust Wars, and are more appropriately the closest thing to the successors to the Virtual Endless long after their extinction.

As I say in the video, I fully recommend going out and finding these sources because the story behind this game - it's immense!

Auriga was a planet colonised by the concrete endless. It was like a research planet where they were researching and developing weapons against the virtuals. The cultists and the necrophages were developed as an ai weapon and a biological weapon respectively.
