Raul Garcia Irvine Well, to be very very honest, possibly the main reason people didn't played Unleashed in Brazil was because everything that was not PS2 content or FIFA games get harshly dismissed. Even when it comes to video games, we act literally like apes, playing soccer games and shooters all day, or even sticking back to SEGA Genesis just to play Mortal Kombat. Sonic is now long forgotten around here, and Unleashed was not an exception, though I have the 360 version and love it to this very day, since 2010. Also my friends think I'm stupid because I still play Sonic games. But those motherfuckers only play two very overrated games: The Last Of Us and GTA V. Fuck them!

The meaning of this song for me is what Sonic is all about: Freedom and excitement. He enjoys living on the edge. He loves testing his speed against a capable adversary (like Shadow, arguably his greatest rival) but when the chips are down, he'll fight for the greater good. When the world is genuinely threatened, he'll still be that cheerful, fun loving guy, but he'll be much more focused on taking down the enemy. When all is said and done he moves on to the next adventure, never truly settling down. He's a free spirit, and like the wind, he goes where he wants, untamed and masterless: His impatient and boisterous personality are really in spite of his good nature, rather than caused by it. For this, he's portrayed positively, so he's rarely ever a nuisance. Even a cold, brooding loner like Shadow can't help but feel the utmost respect for him. That's why I believe their rivalry is more friendly than hateful. They compete against each other, but it's never personal. And Mario? Well, he's also a good guy. That's why I think off the racing courses, or out of the arena (SSB) they'd probably be the best of friends rather than bitter enemies.

At my high school graduation, you got the choice to pick whichever song you liked as you were going up on stage to get your diploma. I choose this song as I feel that it has that "when something ends another begins" motif. Sonic in the game sadly had to let his friend Chip go, as I had to move on from being a teenager into being an adult. In a way, Sonic molded my personality. He makes mistakes as we all do but he keeps his head held high and pushes through adversity and that's the mentality I try to hold during hard times. This song really does speak to me. Sonic the hedgehog, a fictional character can be related to by many. No one in this world is perfect, even the fastest thing alive has his bad days. But he never gives up and never looks back on his mistakes because life is too short to worry about the past and the future, and instead think of ways to overcome the obstacles and when he does have his good days, they really overshadow the bad ones. Sonic's carefree personality shows that you shouldn't sweat the small things and instead consider what went wrong and how to improve in order to keep moving forward. :)

I'd make a case that this is one of the most important sonic games in the franchise. It introduced the fantastic boost gameplay, which would then be implemented into the following 2 games. It had a fun, silly and entertaining story line. It had arguably the best music in the whole franchise. It's just such a shame the werehog bogged it down so much. However it will always be one of my most well remembered games, despite the odd time where it dragged. I genuinely think this game triggered a second... third life into the sonic franchise, and I'm ever thankful to sonic team for that.

I agree with you completely. It is, as you said, one of the most important games in the Sonic franchise. Almost everything about it was amazing. It's sad how the werehog gameplay heavily affected the game itself. It was slow, repetitive, and was a constant disturbance to the flow of the game. In my opinion, if they had left that out, it would have been one of the best Sonic games ever made. Werehog or no werehog though, Sonic Unleashed is definitely one of the most remembered.

What I really miss is this was the last game when Sonic was a "badass". After this, they transitioned into Sonic Colors. George Miles it's very simple, later stages can take up to 30 minutes while sonics daytime takes maybie 8 minutes in the eggmanland(final stage), for every 30 minutes of sonic you have to play 2 hours of werehog. The PS3/xbox version is decent on the combat mechanics, but if you are playing the wii/ps2 version the combat is mundane and gets repetive instead of giving variety like you said.

I can’t believe this game will be 10 years old in a few weeks! This game is a HUGE part of my childhood. Such a shame it got criticized horribly on release, but at least it’s getting what it deserved back then now. Cheers to being a sonic fan forever as time goes on!

SA2 is my favourite game and soundtrack in the franchise. But this is my favourite Sonic song and one of my favourites full stop. It is absolutely magnificent. It perfectly embodies everything people love about the character of Sonic and his games. It’s tear-jerking honestly. It’s like somewhere better to turn to when things are bleak. It’s a pat on the shoulder and a thumbs up. Probably from Sonic himself. Indescribably brilliant.

This song was ever played on Singapore radio when I was young. :) it was popular too! People kept requesting the song for the Top 20 countdown! :D but when I was younger, i wasn't interested with Sonic and yet this song really recalls my primary school memories. :) now in Secondary School... this song has been very moving for me since i first heard it. not only is it a great song in general, but it really reminds me of every single moment I've played in sonic, from the original to unleashed, the spinoffs, generations, everything. that only goes to show that this song just screams sonic. it's fast, fun, and really makes you think of the character in the game that this song played in. thank you Jerret Reddick, and thank you sonic team for more than 20 years of greatness.

Dang, the first Sonic game I played was sonic heroes on xbox when it first came out. I though it was such a great game and I remember sonic 06 coming and totally destroying my image of sonic forever. I really thought sonic heroes and sonic adventure 2 was all I had and then this came out and totally blew my fucking mind. And then I found out the lead singer of one of the coolest bands out there wrote the theme. That's so amazing to me.

All they had to do was make the werehog feel stronger, give him less attention and shorter levels, and remove the medal collecting. edit: or instead of making the werehog stages shorter, they could just make the day stages longer. either way works.

I'd rather they'd just put the Red Rings in and, like in Colors and Generations, have them unlock extra stuff instead of being required to progress through the game. I absolutely agree with you on the Werehog. I'd also add tighter control, a drop shadow and more emphasis on platforming.
