I love how the orchestra leader is bopping along, the audience and everyone else in that place relived some memories. And she sang that song as she always has. And to think, she did it fully clothed, without any grinding, pelvic thrusts or foul language. Pure heart, soul and talent.

Donna was aged 60 in this 2009 performance but that doesn't come to mind watching her as she's engaged and effortlessly in control. Donna Summer was type cast by the past but kept her dignity and singing ability alive by listening to her heart and not by what 'others' thought she was supposed to be. I'm glad to have been around to hear Donna Summer.

Jake dg Why is that a cringe? All this modern shite really has taken away the good old days, we'll never have those again and the people of those days are much better than the materialistic, popularist people that are around today. And those who appreciate the old days for what they were regardless whether they were around to see and experience it - aren't afraid to be different. I couldn't give a fuck if you cringe at that or not.
@ENDTIMEsVideoLibrary7 жыл бұрын
James, you got it right.. I grew up as an 80s kid and that's the way we felt. Being different is what life sometimes is all about.. We had enough of the 70s wood paneled, polyester, long haired, soft rock scene by then. We wanted Color and outrageous and 1950s and 60s and 1920s and 1930s and everything we liked all mixed together OUR WAY! And we were not afraid to be DIFFERENT! And that, my friend, is why the 80s stood out and is now considered classic!

It was in the mid 80’s and I was coming back from Germany. The 747 was almost empty and as I entered the main cabin I saw this nice looking black lady sitting alone and I asked her if I could sit by her and she said “sure”. We started to greet each other after the plane took off and just crossed basic information, where we were from, what I did in Germany my car business. We had breakfast, stopped talking for a while and started to talk again. A good 2 hours had past and I started to look at her closer and something told me that she was someone special. When it dawned on me that this was Donna Summer, I almost flipped out within myself. I asked her what she was going to do in Miami and she said visit a very dear friend by the name of K.C. I smiled at her and she knew that I realized who she was. We laughed and joked about the 70’s, my life in WDC and the Motown Review I used to go to (Howard Theater) as a 13 year old kid with my blond girlfriend Missy and mentioned that there was only 3- 5 white folks in the audience during the late 50’s and early 60’s. She got into her private life, her daughter and so on. The trip, if I recall was a good 7 hours back to Miami and it was one of the coolest experiences I have had. She gave me her address in New York and said …when in town, call me and come over. We hit it off, she being a super star and I am now more than ever a super fan of hers. Years past, I lost my note book where she wrote down her phone and address to my sadness. Beautiful lady physically and especially in spirit. So normal with an extremely pleasant wit and overall being. When she passed away, I knew that at least I was with her some 7 hours one day, but very sad that such a wonderful woman was gone forever. Love her!
@takashi69z5 жыл бұрын
Wow.. She still has it in her. Her voice has not changed. Many of the other singers from her generation have already lost their vocal octave range, singing brief and altered tones which do not match their original first recorded songs. Donna Summer's vocal range is still performed very close to the original recording. She has my admiration.

Just an outstanding voice. I appreciate her more now than during anytime in her career. So many have come and gone, but she prevails. I don't think she got all the recognition she deserves. She has been labeled the Disco Queen, but that does not do her justice. She is not limited to the time period because the quality of her voice is just timeless. She can hit every note, carry every tune and has a mastery of range. I am buying her records today because there are none like her.
