Hi. Thanks so much. Is it possible to have separate reference lists for different chapters, and different reference styles for those chapters? For example: Chapter 1 = Harvard, Chapter 2 = APA and so on...

Always learning something new from you, mam. But I've a question, If I merge two docs of two library, then none of the library gets updated with the newly inserted references from either documents. If I add new material into one of the libraries then how to cite this into the merged file? Thanks in advance.

I see your dilemma, and it sounds like the challenge comes in because you are using two endnote libraries. I think a good place to start is to Google for ways to use two endnote libraries on one document. If that's not possible, search how to combine two endnote libraries. I'm afraid one of the libraries will change its field codes. Let me know how it goes as I and others can learn from you.

Another thing that you may try is to import the one word document's endnote references into one of the two endnote libraries. I'm not sure what the effect on the field codes will be so keep a version of your document saved away in case you need to go back to it.

Thank you for your tutorial. I have a requirement from an author who has written a book with 10 chapters. Each chapter is in a separate Word file, and each file has its own endnotes at the end of the chapter, with the numbering starting at 1 for each chapter. I need to merge all the chapters into one file, placing all the endnotes at the end of the book. However, I need to maintain the endnote numbering exactly as it is in the chapters, meaning the endnotes for Chapter 1 should start at 1, and the endnotes for Chapter 2 should also start at 1, and so on. What is the best way to achieve this?

After each chapter is final, I'd convert it to a file where all the endnote codes are removed, and it just becomes an ordinary Word doc (with numbering but no endnote code behind them). Then it should be easy to copy and paste the reference lists of each chapter where you want them to be while the numbering in the chapters will remain the same.

If I included two documents with distinct reference style (vancouver, chicago), Am I using the same strategy?
@ResearchMasterminds3 жыл бұрын
Hi L-P, I can imagine that that will be a need when one writes a PhD thesis with manuscripts using different referencing styles. I have not tried it before, but play around and let us know what happens. If it does not work, then you can always convert to plain text and then copy and paste into one document, however, my feeling is that there must be a better way to do it.
