ENDOCRINE PHARMACOLOGY - THYROID HORMONE AGONISTS & ANTAGONISTS
In endocrine pharmacology, thyroid hormone agonists and antagonists are essential classes of drugs used to manage various thyroid-related disorders. Agonists mimic the action of natural thyroid hormones, primarily thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), while antagonists inhibit thyroid hormone production or block their effects, thereby addressing conditions of both deficiency and excess of thyroid hormones.
