I was a correctional officer before going into law enforcement. I worked at one of the most dangerous prison in NC. A 450 male, close custody facility. I survived bc I treated those men like men. Just bc they're locked up doesn't make them animals. Respect given is respect earned.

Exactly. I will pray for the fallen officer, but in my view he got his Just Desserts for bullying a man who has nothing left. A lot of men don’t deserve positions of power because they won’t accept the responsibility that comes with it. When I became a corrections officer I made a point to not be disrespectful to inmates; there’s a way to talk to others that is firm but respectful. Sargent was one of those who felt they had the right to abuse their power, and when playing with fire expect to be burned. I hope, more than anything, it’s a lesson learned for us as CO’s. A little respect goes a long way in what we do.

Would you agree that this Correctional Officer abused his power and was on a power trip by continuously targeting this inmate? You worked there when this occurred, did you ever do anything to stop this correctional officer from abusing his power or did you turn the other cheek? With all the information laid out on this incident, it would seem this correctional officer instigated by bullying an inmate which could’ve been prevented if ANYONE stepped in to stop him abusing his power or if he just never abused his power to begin with. I wish more people who were present during this incident, stopped at this correctional officer from abusing his power. Maybe that his kids wouldn’t grow up without a father.

@@SlayTheSlaughter would you agree that you are partaking in the same behavior your admonishing? you sit there behind anonymity talking poorly on others, just like an officer talking to someone in a cell that cant do anything. with all the information given about the inmate it would seem the inmate was a violent criminal that would rob and murder anyone and does not deserve anything but death in prison. i wish more people like you would stop glorifying criminals and their violent acts, maybe then we would have less people in prison and fewer murders, but no you sit there and defend a criminal and a murderer, not once stating that the inmate is a murderer, a thief, and a sexual predator...thats who youre defending a murderer, a thief, and a sexual predator (all of which occurred and then was convicted of before being put in a cell and being taunted)

EDIT: just to clarify, I am not saying ALL COs are bad, or that this COs murder was justified. No disrespect to the family of the dead CO, but COs often go on power trips, regarding no inmates as innocent. I believe everyone is just 1 bad choice away from being locked up at all times so why further punish someone who has already been put in a cage? I don’t know if the inmate was right or wrong but I do know that the guards behavior provoked the reaction from the inmate. The most dangerous person is the one with nothing left to lose.

It's hard to believe, this channel is just over 1 year old. I joined when it had about 15k subs. If i remember correctly EOS had about 1k subs even before the first video. I could be wrong though. Jake is going to be what APS started out to be, imo. Good luck EOS and Jake in particular. I'm British and thought Cali prisons were bad, but Florida seems to be pure savage, prisoners and corrections officers alike.

It's just sad that our justice system is so messed up that it divides us like this. We're all Americans, all humans, all deserving of respect. I been out 2 and a half after 18 in. Went from nothing, a nobody, violent felon, to a companion, best friend, step father, and now have a baby girl on the way. This story hurts my heart...

I was drinking at the time and met friends at the local biker bar, my one friend who did tattoos was a retired prison gaurd i ask him about it and said that's a dangerous job. He told me it wasn't that bad you talk to thee inmate like they're a person, show them respect and they will respect you back. I think he was a gaurd in N.H.

I've done time in a max facility in New Mexico, during my stay 5 different co's got stuck. Im not saying its ok to stab a co.but on the same token when your in prison and apart of a gang you are expected to live and conduct yourself a certain way. If you are disrespected by another inmate or a co you have to do something about it. If a co gets stuck/killed, believe me when I say its not for no reason. Something very serious had to have been committed by that co in order for the go ahead to be given to take him out. I've seen co's who treat people like shit and get what they have coming. I've also seen co's who treat everyone with respect, make it clear how they do their job and what to expect. Those co's never have to worry about making it home to their family. Prison it a different world and it has different rules than society. Everyone has to conduct themselves a certain way,including the cops if they want to make it home.

I feel bad for the wife,nothing compares to losing someone especially when it's a vicious murder but it gross to see her politicising her husband's death especially when it had nothing to do with his death. I dont agree with over crowding a prison then cutting the staff but that's not what killed your husband. What killed your husband was complacency. Nobody in the walls of a prison should ever feel complacent but especially a gaurd that has a reputation of abuse. The CO walked into a killer's cell eating potato chips? He didnt deserve to die but complacency kills in hostile environments.
@pillaryclinton6187
@pillaryclinton6187 4 жыл бұрын
What killed her husband was his smart mouth talking shit to a prisoner that's serving a life sentence for a violent crime. What did he think would happen. Did he really expect the guy not to do anything about. You can't disrespect a grown ass man in prison with other prisoners witness it much less a prisoner like him. For one he's gonna stand up for himself and two he's got to handle the c.o. for sure cuz other prisoners saw it and would think he's weak and take him for a punk. So the guy had to kill him. However the c.o. really did kind of let his guard down. How you gonna talk shit to someone disrespect them and threaten them then fall for a set up like that. He was either being cocky and trying to act hard eating his bag of chips or the c.o. wasn't very smart and shouldn't of been working there. Why would you go in the cell without the prisoners removed or at the very least cuffed up. Then to walk to the very back of the cell was just plain disregard for his life. Respect is huge in prison and as a c.o. you will get fucked off for being a punk cuz you have a little authority. That man lives there you're just a guest and need to show respect just like anybody else does. It's definitely brutal and maybe was taken too far, but honestly did he really think the man was gonna allow him to keep disrespecting him. He should of known better PERIOD.

A family friend (female) worked in a males prison here in the UK. I’ve always found that fascinating and asked so many questions. She said she’s firm but fair. The guys know they can’t get away with certain shit while she’s there, but she’d never belittle or call them out for petty things that could, in theory, be left to slide.
