An endowment policy is essentially a life insurance investment plan, which, apart from covering the life of the insured, helps the policyholder save regularly over a specific period of time so that he/she is able to get a lump sum amount on the policy maturity in case he/she survives the policy term

If a person had paid 2 year's premium of Lic jeevan Anand policy 815 and suddenly he felt that this not a good policy for him and he don't want to continue with this policy. what should he do to bear minimum loss - 1) continue up to 3 year then surrender and get surrender value. 2) continue up to 3 year and then stop paying premium and wait till the maturity get money. 3) discontinue the policy from 2 years onwards and the premium of the third year(only 3rd year) should invest in Fixed deposit or Mutual fund and leave it upto the maturity date of lic policy. which will be best option?

Actually I had already invested in this scheme 3 years back and that time my financial knowledge was not as good as now. So, if you can suggest me the best way to stop this plan so that I can invest in some other instrument. For your information I alreaay paid three yearly installment of policy and heard that its easy to get money back after three years. Or is it a good idea to take the loan against these policies? Okay! What's the premium paying term and tenure? In fact I was checking the brochure of this plan today, for another question. You can definitely surrender your policy after 3 years of paying the premium. In the broucher there is chart that shows the guaranteed surrender value . It is different for different policy term and year of surrender. If I remember correctly the guaranteed surrender value for a 18 year term plan and surrendering in 4th year is 50% of total premium paid so far. I will check it one more time for you. @@BWealthy : My policy tenure is for 15 years and I have to pay till 11 years i guess. The policy premium is around 40k. The total sum assured is 5 lakh.So, if I surrender now I ll get around 60k out of total premium amount 120k. So, is it a wise decision or can I stop paying from 4th year and convert it into paid up capital. I think paid up capital is also an option. What you say..
