I think Johan Reinholdz really shines on this album. Last album he was stuck in the shadow of Christopher Amott.

@@oyepvokadub6522 I agree. Haven is the worst of their golden period from the 90s and 2000s. I might even dig Atoma more, but Haven is still better than We are the void or Construct

Dark Tranquility were really the band that broke me into extreme metal. I’ve grown to really love a lot of their albums (especially Damage Done and Atoma) and enjoyed Moment when it came out as well. I had pretty high expectations and it sounds like those may not be met, but I’m still looking forward to checking out the album! Great vid as always

I love DT. Despite them releasing the same album over and over again, they have incredibly strong discography with no bad, weak or even mediocre albums. They are, imo, one of the melodeath GOATs, alongside at the gates, EARLY in flames and carcass. Super excited to check this LP out. Great video as always, Cheers!!

Wild of you saying them releasing the same album over and over?? Thats more for At The Gates (which do it amazingly well though) But Projector sounds nowhere near to damage done and nowhere near to fiction and construct...they all very different. Maybe atoma, moment and this one yes. They get a bit more predictable and less ground braking original. Still decent though

I heard this record twice this morning and I can strongly say it’s one of their best since Construct. I wasn’t too fond if Aton and Moment. But I’d say that Endtime Signals does bring back their bread and butter sound. It gave me vibes of Fiction and We Are The Void I’d give this album a 9/10

I've seen them at the Alcatraz festival in Belgium this Sunday. The place was packed, very cool atmosphere and they sounded great! The new songs rocked too. And Michael is such a cool guy. There was this moment between songs, when the crowd would just keep cheering and applauding. The band just stood there loss for words, they were so grateful. What an amazing moment and show that was.

@@themetalmeltdownofficial I highly recommend listening to Damage Done if you haven't already. I think it's pretty much a perfect album, at least original track listing with 11 tracks. There are a couple of different versions with extra/bonus tracks that aren't quite on the same level and break the flow in my opinion.

@Necromass-o6d I don't consider Dark Tranquillity to be a mediocre band, nor would I consider their discography flawless if I did. 'Mediocre' is not my standard for anything flawless. Indeed, I would suggest that far from being easy, it would quite literally be impossible for a mediocre band to have a flawless discography. I consider DT to be an exceptional band with an exceptional discography. I'm guessing you disagree. It's almost as if musical taste is subjective, or something. 🤯

DT is in my top 5 bands of all time, my favorite melodic death metal band and to me they have a perfect discography. Everything they have done is at the very least an 8/10 (the first record for me personally) and at most a 10/10 (almost every other album). I think this one will be just as much of a GOATed album and might make my album of the year if it wasn't for Leprous but we'll see.🤘🏻

I am the bands biggest fan and glazer. Id say this basically can be summed up as the exact same complaints many people have with every album post the gallery. Where a lot of the songs can blend together. Id say if younas the reader ever want to get into DT ya gotta do it the old way. Like they did in the 1970s. Grab your herb and just let the album take you on an adventure. There arent gonna super be any stand out tracks (except their closers which always end the adventure PERFECTLY). Just take a 40-50 min trio thru the atmosphere. Dont listen to it looking for anything. Just let it take you on a journey. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I think they asked Dark Tranquillity why they don't do more clean vocals (especially for choruses), and their response was something akin to that they do what they feel the songs need, and certainly don't want to be forced into anything commercial. Gotta respect that. I do think this album impresses me more than the last (which I said when the last two albums released), and I can feel them taking more steps away from tradition than ever before, and the new members certainly make their presence known. However, calling this just a melodeath album is a bit of a mistake. Those elements are there (and arguably heavier and faster than ever), but their atmospheric and goth rock appreciation they've been toying with since Projector and Haven shouldn't be denied. Especially with all these new groups popping up which... I don't even know how to describe (maybe dark ambient djent with trap beats), indirectly stealing their sound (not unlike how screamo ripped off In Flames). Honestly, I feel like what's popular now is playing catch-up to what DT have been doing for decades. I don't think they're built to remake their first 3 albums over and over again... At the Gates couldn't even recapture their magic. And why remake Damage Done, Character, or Fiction over and over either? The band does whatever it wants, and I swear Endtime Signals is the most alive that I've heard them sound in a long time!

Nice review! I’m biased towards DT because it was my gateway band to Melodic DM (and therefore, to DM itself) with Damage Done. My favourite era is late 90s-early 00s: Haven, DD, Character, Fiction… those ones are my jam. Their latter albums though, like Atoma and Moments, I like some songs but they seem to have the same issues you mentioned in your review: weak 2nd half, dull moments… I will still give it a chance because it’s a band I truly appreciate. Keep it up, MM!

Up until 2010 they were the goated melodeath band other than Insomnium... But We are the void was pretty bad. Construct was outright terrible - I honestly rather listen to any In Flames album over that piece of junk. Atoma was pretty good, Moment was alright. I listen on friday with fresh ears. I jammed the hell out of Grand Cadaver and Halo Effect... If it's as good as Atoma I'll be pleased. They won't top their 93-07 run but I don't except them to anyway.

@@themetalmeltdownofficial Okay, let me preface this: Soundtrack and Come Clarity are pretty bad (no nostalgia whatsoever, but I know a couple people who really dig them). I really dug Purpose and Playground though. Siren Charms is damn forgetable, but even then there are 2-3 decent songs, same goes for Battles and I the Mask. We are the Void is about as bad as Siren Charms, but I hate Construct with a burning passion. I think there's a bonus track or something which barely hits the 3 minute mark, all other 11, 12 songs really get on my nerves. This is the same band that made oldschool melodeath masterpieces and even modern - for the time - masterpieces like Character and Fiction. It's not even that they introduced children's choirs or clean singing or synths like In Flames, but they went from Kings of Melodeath to a C rate copy. After 8 stellar albums We are the void was already lacking substantially, but Construct sounds like outtakes. Kinda reminds me how Queensrÿche sucked for 18 years inbetween Promised Land and Self / Titled (okay maybe not that horrendous!) I'm the last person who'll defend In Flames after 02 (with the exception of Purpose, Playground, and now Foregone) but Dark Tranquility really mostly shat the bat after 07 for me. Moment was alright and Atoma is probably their best since Fiction, but those early 2010s albums... My oh my.
