Ready to install your Endura Flap insulated pet door for sliding glass doors? This tutorial demonstrates how to quickly and easily install the Thermo Panel Dog Door, Quick Panel Pet Door, and the Vinyl Dog Door for Sliding Glass Doors.
How to install a Patio Pacific Thermo Panel 3e, Quick Panel 3, or Vinyl Sliding Glass Dog Door:
Step 1: Remove the panel from the box. You will find all the instructions along with foam weather stripping and a draft stopper. Make sure that you don't apply any of the weather stripping until you have put the panel in your track and know that it will fit both your door and your pet.
Step 2: To put the panel into your track, you will first loosen the thumb screws. This will release the spring mechanism.
Step 3: Put the top of the panel into the top of your track and the bottom into the bottom, right on top of the rail. Slide the whole thing over into the door jamb against the wall. At this point, you can tighten those thumb screws to make sure that it fits in your door. In some cases, it might be easier to do this from the outside of the track.
Step 4: If the track wall is too high on the inside, close the sliding door against the pet door to make sure that there are no gaps. If there are gaps, refer to the tricks and workarounds included in your packet.
Step 5: All of our thermo and quick panels come with a user adjustable step over feature. This allows you to change how high the flap is from the ground, to make it the most comfortable height for your pet. The vinyl dog door has a standard, one-sized stepover.
Step 6: Once you've determined that the door is the right size, you can remove the panel and apply the weather stripping. Lay the panel down on its side to apply weather stripping. From the end of the panel working up towards the spring mechanism, adhere the weather stripping inside the channel, unrolling it little by little. When finished, trim with scissors. When you get to the top, it's easiest to cut a piece of the weather stripping to apply directly to the sliding glass door. You can put the drafts on the back edge of the sliding panel here or on the outside here. If it is too wide, you can also trim lengthwise but be careful not to trim too much as that would prevent it from doing its job. Also, remember that you want the draft softer to just barely kiss the glass. If you overlap it too much, it will wear down the adhesive and will not stay installed for long.
Step 7: You also have a lock with your panel. Either a threshold mount foot lock or a sliding glass door clamp lock. The foot lock will require drilling while the clamp lock will simply clamp onto the track wall and prevent the sliding door from moving beyond the lock's placement.
