This does NOT cover the steps required for the through the wall model. You have to take the entire thing apart to replace the flaps. 2.5 hours later I feel completely duped by the "ease" of this project.

It is not necessary to loosen screws by window. I did that and the spring pulled the screw into the track.

Exactly!! Why are you making us do your cutting…if we are ordering a specific size it should be cut at the factory. Cheap!!

Can the window still lock if it is half way open for the cat window door. Because I was just thinking, what if someone had a tool like a crowbar to lift the window from outside all the way up. Its not much I'd imagine, but enough to stick fingers, or your whole arm threw and untwist the locks.

Always check that you’re not cutting through water pipes or electrical wiring when using a sawzall. It’s so dangerous to just start cutting through walls

Good to know. I'm way down the rabbit hole on researching dog doors and Endura appears to have a superior product that is poorly advertised online with an exception to their youtube channel.

Wow scary use of the reciprocating saw (Sawzall)...almost guaranteed to cut electrical wires or plumbing. You should always use a hand dry wall saw to cut a hole large enough for your forearm to fit through to feel around for wiring and plumbing. When cutting with the hand saw use shallow cuts to avoid hitting a wire or pipe. In wall wiring is commonly around 12" above floor, so stay clear of that area. If you have wires in the way then you'll need to turn off the breaker, cut the wires and install a junction box mounted OUTSIDE the interior wall. Do not put it out of site inside the wall, which would be huge fire code violation anywhere. When cutting the metal with a jigsaw, use a thin piece of plywood under it to reduce all the metal vibrating. Keep the jigsaw on the surface until you have to lift it. When applying the sealant put on a glove and use your finger pushing slightly into the crease to spread evenly. Oh and keep the sealant from your clothing, she got lucked out it.

I got the side magnets out, but removing the threshold is not nearly as easy as shown in the video. I've tried one end up, one down, both ends up, no luck. What am I missing?

Its not easy like the video. If you got the newer model which I found out we did.. I called Endura and we had to unscrew the frame and then take the screws out of the threshold

What she doesn't tell you........ 1. The screws are not magnetic lol 2. The frame is secured with double sided weatherstripping tape. You will have to pry the frame off without breaking it, clean off the old tape, buy new tape, install new tape to secure door. 3. They didn't send any replacement screw covers. 4. The good thing is the warranty replacement door was fast and easy.

The difficult part is rearranging the spacers, if necessary. They don't go over that at all. Take plenty of pictures before and during the process, if you do it, to help you determine how it all goes back together. Pieces that you can't figure out how they come apart, just pull them apart. I had to use a thin screw driver to start separating them.

I had to separate every piece below the window to rearrange the spacers, but as I reassembled them, I put insulation everywhere where I felt a space between pieces.

Thank you for the great video! I am happy to see that your door is easier to install (example, you can just tighten the screws to secure the panel vs drilling!) than one I just tried to install. I also appreciate the humor…the dog with the weather stripping roll on her nose- very cute.

This is very misleadingl If you have a double flap installed you must take off the inside and outside frames and then you have to take the aluminum tunnel off to get to the screws that access the flap itself. The tabs on the tunnel break very easily. I mean they are brittle, brittle brittle. IMHO this is a poor design. Good door but plan an a project to replace the doors.

Its way easier to buy a hale door. The tunnel comes assembled to the interior piece and the entire thing is metal. You can get the interior door and exteriors door in house matching colors. Its self framing. Comes with a 5 year warranty and that covers the flaps too. No i domt work for them i just really like the door.

The pet door flap fits between a two piece frame. There are four screws that holding the two fame pieces together. Once you take it all apart and replace the endurance flap there is a trick to get it all back together. The trick is to take each screw and line it up with the threaded part of the outside panel. You will have to take the screw and push it all the way in and you will have to look and peek through the crack of the two panels and you should be able to line up to the threaded hole and once you do that turn the screw just enough for the screw to hold the panel, do not tighten any further. Then repeat this process for each screw and do not tighten the screw all the way. Tighten just enough for it to hold the outside panel. Once you have all four screws in place then you can tighten them all and as it tightens you can aligned the pet door flap and frame. If yiu tighten the screws all the way at first you will find its almost impossible to get ghe last two screws to line up. Been there done that.
