I’m going to plod it with my mate. He did selection over 20 years ago so he’s shown me all the test march routes seriously Elan Valley is the place to test yourself 👍 where did you get your tent mate I’m after a new one.

@@stevemagoo1980 it's called the Rab Latok mountain II. I got it online off Trekitt. I will say they've had a MAD price increase because a mate was also looking. It's now on for a staggering £850 but I paid £630 in Sep '22 (I can still see it in my order history). I like the simplicity of it. It is single layer (technically it's a shelter) and designed for the Himalayas so never have to worry about being able to handle any weather in UK. It's pretty lightweight and simple to set up and at the end of the day I just loved that it looks so pro :-). Having said that I'd have to think very long and hard if paying £850 and for that money I'd be tempted to look at Hilleberg top notch tents as well.

There's a Hard Routine member facebook page (no cost) which is more suited for in depth chat on routes and kit etc. Here's the link facebook.com/groups/7938437552847409/ I'll promote it in next video. Small group of likeminded folks. You're very welcome.

Thanks mate I’ve subscribed to your channel 👍 £850! I was looking at a Nordisk telemark that was £400! Good kit ain’t cheap! I’ll jump on your Facebook chat👍

I just went and did the same recce route as this yesterday and it makes me laugh in your intro clips as i had the same reactions exactly when looking at that wall of a hill on route to checkpoint 7 and also that honking set of babys heads on the way down to check point 8 😂 i feel your pain bro 😅

@HardRoutine_TOTW Thanks man, I was doing really well for time I had an hour on top of the cut off times but lost my head halfway up fan Nedd, and wrapped my tits in 😅 was on the go for 15hrs in the end. Great to meet you by the way, I'll be back for the next endurance there's definitely some unfinished business there for me! How did your route go?.. honestly couldn't believe the state of the weather, everyone did fantastic navigating through the night in that aha!!
@HardRoutine_TOTW4 ай бұрын
@@Northcoasttrees yes great to meet you. Yes I’ll probably be back next one. I got pulled for not making the halfway cut-off. By that point me and one other were among the last four on the route so I heard you were ahead of us with the other participant (I don’t know his name). We hung out with the DS for a couple of hours because they couldn’t spare anyone to shuttle us back so I heard one was making his way down to the CP (which I now know was you) then we saw the final man walk up Fan Llia (saw the orange marker panel). I was hoping that was you! Anyway I hope he made it! See you on the next one!

I assume this is a training march? I’d thought the speed would have to be a lot higher if it was on the real selection day? Thanks for a great channel. I hope to get to go to Brecon/Pen Y Fan myself someday🤞🙂

Thanks! Yes this was over two and a half days. I'd not stand a chance on real selection. Plus I'm 52 years old now 😉 however I will do a simulated event early September this distance in 24 hours! Thanks for watching the channel!

Love the smile all the time - what drugs are you on? Did you consider ditching the tent and going with a bivibag? Less comfortable but less to carry? pros - cons?
@HardRoutine_TOTW8 ай бұрын
It’s why I keep coming back to the hills 😄 I don’t mind the weight better for training. This shelter/tent is a bit like a bivvy bag to be honest just a single layer. But I’m sure one day I’ll try a bivvy bag! Hows the condensation in one of those though?

I thought wild camping is not allowed in the UK? Did you have to get special permission? I see so many videos of people doing it, are they just trying to get away with it?

Hear no evil see no evil sort of thing. I camp up just before darkness falls and always high up somewhere, no open fires and I pack up early and make sure I don't leave anything behind then it tends to be tolerated. :-)
