How does the Enduro compare to the Stamina 180?
@danytheunicorn955 жыл бұрын
good question, I imagine it is lighter since its carbon (maybe a kilo less), and sure, less travel, but really both are really similar in geo and purpose, maybe the Stamina is more downhill oriented because of the slightly more aggressive geometry and more travel (also, 7074 aluminium is almost indestructible in bike form) and The Specialized Enduro is more of an all-rounder. But really both are great choices, comes down to terrain, preference and intent. Wanna race? pick the Enduro, Wanna bike park? Stamina , Wanna do both? well they are interchangable. The differences are not very big so both will do well in any terrain.

James Brant: Yeah you’re probably right. Thinking back I guess they all were first ride impressions. They were all very positive. A mountain bike is a big investment for me. If I were in the market, which I’m not, I personally would reluctantly take the Slayer off my list of contenders. Which might not be fair to RM - that broken bike may well be a one in ten thousand fluke due to a metallurgy anomaly in that one particular frame - but I couldn’t take the financial hit if it happened to me. And I’d hate to be out of commission during prime riding season resolving the warranty issues and such. I’ve never been interested in Specialized in the past but I’d love to give the Enduro a full weekend of riding. As with the Slayer it has gotten great comments from a diverse range of reviewers.

As like any bike review everyone wants to compare this bike or that bike to the ones tested. Rather than test bikes with the same travel test bikes with the same suspension curves, geo and then travel. The enduro is the clear contender against the SB150, Megatower, Ripmo, firebird etc.. All of yetis bikes are listed "for fun" except for the SB150 which is listed for "racing". While you can race any bike there are certain characteristics that make a bike a race bike... I agree with others that we can do better than this in reviews

Sb150 and megatower are racebikes. Ransom is more AM than enduro. The spez is more freeride for non-pros than racebike. Why they should be compared? Racebikes(enduro) and non-pro freeride/park/enduro bikes are in different categories. Of course you can race a slayer and do a park-day and an overmountain trip on a sb150...but why use them improperly?

I got into downhill racing last year on my 27.5 enduro bike and I’m looking to take it a bit more seriously this year. I want to upgrade to a longer 29er bike this year as I am a 6’5 giant and feeling a little cramped/ limited on my current bike. I know that the rider makes more of a difference than the bike, but in a sport that comes down to less than a second I want to get the best tool for the job, I can really only afford a one bike setup and could make a dh bike as my only bike work but a bike like the 2020 enduro would be much better on days outside the park. How much of a difference does a dh bike make over the enduro and would the enduro be at all limiting in a dh race situation?

This is not a fair comparison. You call the category Enduro and include the Yeti, which is more a freeride bike, and you choose a lower spec GT and complain about the components. If you are going to actually compare Enduro bikes, choose bikes built and marketed as Enduro bikes, and select bikes at the same price point. You are comparing bikes that aren’t comparable. Manufactures really need to catch on with that because front centres on bikes are so long now. You ride them completely different compared to hanging off the back of tiny bikes from years ago.
