When I was in middle school a friend of mine died from brain cancer so maybe this is one of those subconscious connections. Gene Park is great though, every praise about that man is not enough. God Speed to him & all decent folk working games journalism.

Cute and sexy characters that are attractive are what people demand for always. Video game players are fine with playing as characters different from themselves. I just love playing as a girl in the Pokémon games, and may play as a boy when designed to be cute that I never really care about a character's given age since fantasy is different from reality.

If I have to play as a female, it has to be like sexy Eve (Stellar Blade). If I have to play as a male, it has to be like Kratos (not the pussy woke modern Kratos, the badass one from GoW 1,2,3). Its that simple. Thats What I want in my videogames. I want to scape the depressing reality where everything is masculine empowered females and gay femenine guys

When I play a game I want to rather play as a sexy female character like Eve (Stellar Blade), Or a badass male like Kratos (not the modern one, but the badass from GoW 1,2,3). Thats all. I just want to escape the depressing woke reality

Thanks for Amping this! Subbed! As a gamer from the start (no joke I was gaming on dial up!!) I really dislike this smear campaign and brainwashing attempt!! I have seen this from the start along with KZbin helping to supress all video's on this matter for their friends! as stated I have gamed a long time so I want to clear a few things right off the bat! we are not all "bums" and do have our own homes! we are certainly NOT "Race Driven" because it was NEVER ABOUT THAT!! you are told "no diversity and no black people have EVER been on boxes before now or been represented!! really? heard of half life? , dishonoured death of the outsider? Prototype 2??? that's just off the top of my head and are not only games I love and have replayed but all of them had CHARACTERS not COLOUR CHARTS with stories NOT PROPAGANDA this latest of "gates" (what is the fascination with gates?????) is a similar move to last time kind of like a riot! you start a fight (sweet baby employee who has called for an organised attack on a Brazilian gamer for listing what games they were part of to take down that curator/community page and even his account with a false flag attack) this SAME employee also insulted the creator of Dragon Ball Z a day after his passing and CONTINUES to attack the gamer meanwhile Sweet baby call harassment and get new powers and laws!! just like the FIRST TIME even got the SAME people doing it! using extortion to get into companies then flooding with woke! they are backed by Canada and US homeland security with the FBI now getting involved because gamers are of course "extremists" now so it's ok to spy on a whole hobby that happens to be over half the population... I have played all characters of all shades over many worlds and enjoyed every moment of it ! NEVER did I need the character to "look like me" because I'm not a narcissist! no point did it bother me to see EVERYONE ELSE BUT NOT MY CULTURE because I always saw people and left that to the clan and other scum! I spent 3k hrs as a BALD ASIAN WOMAN in Rust it was AWESOME !! I am ALL for Diversity MORE SO than any wokester as I discount NOBODY in that! I welcome AAA hitting the wall as they seemingly today care not for escapism and ONLY for cash creating an issue to sell you the cure just like the left! so is there a point to arguing? no as your words will ONLY be twisted and they seek a heavy response! vote with your wallet and DO NOT BUY DEI once they are gone with AI and the internet we can have a truly DIVERSE playing field not what the FBI and other racists TELL YOU is inclusive while they spy!

Considering the devs said they designed the game to pander to the west I find Palworld being brought up in this discussion incredibly ironic also considering it's fanbase shares the ideals of the most destructive tourists

The new Wolverine Insomniac-SBI its gonna make me so sad...It would be like watching my favorite child action hero (Rambo-Silverster Stallone), coming out now as a non binary-trans-gay-crab-people in the news. Wolvernie its gonna break my heart on its release, he was one of my favorite marvel heroes of all time, and they are gonna destroy him and make me dont want to play that game...Man I hate SBI and all the rest of those woke cultis so much.

The leaks showed them focusing on mystique being married to some other chick than destiny while also mentioning destiny who in canon was her only female lover which tells me mystique has been turned into the resident lesbian instead of the bi chick she always was with plethera of male interests over the year. Also they changed her whole personality gone is the cold assassin now she treats logan like a brother which feels strange.

Jason Schreier might be one of the only journalists left in the gaming space, but he's also one of the biggest issues. I think working for Forbe's is the only reason he hasn't gone to the extent this time that he did during GG. I also think the gatekeeping around this issue is dooming it to the same fate that GG had to begin with. The first time, the gaming media had all the control. It wasn't a leadership thing, it was the complete lack of a voice to get the issues out to people who are only hearing what the journalists are saying. It's a bit different today as "influencers" have far more impact - which is why the media in general has been on a campaign against influencers for more than a decade. That said, there has been a very large, very vocal group attacking any influencer who refused to jump on the story like 8 months ago when there was nothing to support the claims people were making. The idiots involved in this "movement" have actively pushed this movement into the same corner that GG died in. Insert onion meme, but as soon as one layer of this was actually exposed, we've quickly been finding layers no one would have even believed before hand. If these large creators HAD said something back then and none of this happened, they would have been canceled and there wouldn't have been anything substantial available to back the claims. The on-going issues in the vtuber space has maintained far more momentum despite being a much smaller audience and being almost entirely self-imposed. In gaming, this is consumer backlash and an attempt at market correction, but within the first 72hrs this whole thing was imploding on itself. Tucker Carlson isn't someone I'd necessarily want representing my "cause," but this IS political. Anyone that is going to actually represent the issues for what they are should be able to do so w/o being attacked. For US, the gamers, this isn't political. For these companies, it VERY MUCH is. The only reason these companies even exist is BECAUSE they're pushing politics into markets where they don't belong. Ask yourself, what is propaganda and what is the most effective way to push it? This is literally a top-down issue that only exists bc of the politics, and the money behind those politics. Companies get tax breaks and special funding due to those politics. If you have a 401k, a pension or any sort of retirement then there is a very good chance you have been helping fund these companies. When you're filling out those forms there's one little check box that if you mark, you're money is going to funding this propaganda which explicitly leads to creating a lesser product. And the phrasing is so vague and misleading that you don't actually realize where your money is going until either you specifically look it up or someone talks to you very specifically about the groups handling your money. The description you're given expressly makes it sound like if you DON'T check that box, then you're actively supporting things like slavery and megacorps who are actively killing the planet. It doesn't mention anything about how it literally pushes corporations to violate civil rights laws in THIS country. Or how it's been leading to us, as consumers, receiving an ever-declining quality of product as quotas now outweigh experience, skill or talent in the job markets. The entire thing is a massive hypocrisy. And they're getting us coming and going - they're wasting our retirement money to spend on backing these horrible products no one wants and then we're also the target audience of the products they're trying to sell to us. They're getting our money, one way or another. So we can't compete financially. And now we have smooth-brains attacking the people with platforms large enough to actually have an impact. People who can reach a majority of gamers or even people completely outside of gaming. You should WANT people like ActMan, SomeOrdinaryGamer, Asmondgold, etc whose politics may very well not align with your own calling out these issues. This is literally political to everyone on the other side of the argument and the only hope for it to ever be reconciled is by openly showing this is completely bipartisan, that it has nothing to do with melanin or genitalia. The most important voices are literally the ones you would never agree with on any other subject BECAUSE it disproves everything SBI and the gaming journalists are saying. And to the unknowing bystanders, it shows them that the ones making it political, bigoted, etc aren't the gamers. And when you're attacking those voices, you're giving those other people reasonable doubt and justification to believe what is being claimed.

Really great comment & well researched. You seem to actually understand what the issues here are, which is rare these days. it drives me crazy how some of the best people in journalism behave the worst. It's personally happened to me where jobs were withheld because someone found out i wasn't in the club. Two of my best friends are former games journalists, one of them used to work with destructoid pre-gamer gate and got cancelled for defending a fellow employee for a so called micro-aggression. And he's a great guy, solid journalist, a huge progressive, gay, etc and none of that protected him. It's a real problem, because so many journalists will agree that freedom of speech and association is important, but then they say if you are a yahtzee that it doesn't count. But then they include that to be anyone against any part of their platform of beliefs. Which is friggin ridiculous. This isn't all, not even most games journalists; but they all stay silent when it happens. I mentioned Gene Park, he is a huge role model for me; but there is also Colin Moriarty or Erik Kain. Those are the big names, but I know plenty of freelancers and smaller but very talented reporters pushed out of the industry. When Kotaku East was still a thing, Brian Ashcraft was a phenomenal games journalist and he doesn't work in games journalism anymore but a texas monthly. Huh, i wonder why. (insert eye roll face emoji) So it's batty, that I love games journalism and quality investigative work; yet some of the same people would see others in the same field kicked out of it for not sharing their beliefs system, even if we might agree on 50% or more of the issues. And while I will keep trying to engage with everyone on both sides; it's still a large frustration how much of this garbage behavior sticks around.

I really loved Endymion a lot. But I unsubscribed when I noticed that he can't be neutral and fair when something goes in contradiction with somthing that he likes. There are now so many proofs that Square Enix is totally oriented in the woke culture, but as Endymion love the FF franchise, he is not able to say it and even defend the company. It's a total loss of credibility. You can't have different standards depending of your preferences. He is an intelligent guy. I hope he can realize it.

I think He knows that SE is accepting the woke, like the Tifa censorship patch in ff Remake. Its just that its his most beloved franchise since his childhood. He will mention it on time, I am sure. Just understand that its like his 18 years dog he loved and cared all his life, suddenly started barking and biting him. He is just assimilating they are killing his beloved franchise too.
