At the end of 1, Alvis has a vision after Shulk mentions that he wants to see other people from other worlds. Alvis mentions that he sees the people of these world walking together toward the future hand in hand. No matter what happens in 3, I feel like the conclusion will be that throughout whatever heartbreak will exist, all peoples from both worlds will be able to face the future together.

I just hope that if Rex is dead….. Pyra and Mythra are buried beside him. I doubt they’d want to be anyone else’s blade after waiting 500 years for him to be their first true driver and their more than likely love interest. I would assume that they would want to die with Rex or atleast sleep beside him undisturbed where nobody can easily awaken them. I’d love to see some Easter egg or nod to their story and perhaps even a confirmed ending for them. As well as Morag, Zeke, Tira, and Nia if Nia is that one from end of trailer.

This could just be a coincidence, but it's entirely possible that this line could be referencing the ideology of Xenoblades 1 and 2 respectively. The former representing 1, as "Fighting in order to live" is what Shulk and the gang spends the entire game doing, fighting to support their existence, whereas the latter represents 2, as "Living to fight" is the boiled down version of Rex's motivation, specifically "The power to protect", and "I'm going to Elysium for you".

One thing I am very hyped about with Xenoblade 3 would def be the world building. I really enjoyed the world building and characterization of Alrest in Xenoblade 2, with Theosoir being my personal highlight on that front. Since the trailer for 3 indicates that a lot of time has passed since 1 and 2s endings, the game will certainty have a ton of stuff to work with. Looking forward to see how the game worldbuilds through quests, main story, and dialogue with citizens. As for some theories/predictions: .Mio is related to Nia .Rex and Pyra/Mythra have become something of a legend/myth in the world. Kinda like the Jedi in the Original Star Wars trilogy or the X Men in Logan .Nia and Melia aren't being mind controlled. They have valid and complex reasons for fighting that are in character .The Colliding of Xenoblade 1 and 2s worlds had terrible consequences and lead to a lot of resentment between both parties .Rex and Shulk are likely dead or old man who will serve as mentor figures .Pyra and Mythra may have withdrawn from society if Rex died

Hold up,I just realized a UMN-like structure already exists in both Xenoblade 1 and 2, being Memory Space and the Elysium Dream, where even dead people can stay. Addam also mentions in ch7 that he just got there, that we led him there, so maybe before then he was part of the collective unconscious ? Man I cannot stop theorizing over a 90 seconds trailer

I just figured his soul stayed behind, keeping the third aegis sword sealed. He couldn't move on and had regrets; he wanted to ensure such a dangerous weapon couldn't be used by the wrong hands. After all the weapon breaks after rex brought him to elysium aka paradise, signaling his soul was able to move on.

@Xenomaniac Yes, it would definitely be quite something. However, my suspicion is that Alvis, Malos, and Pneuma will be an antagonistic force, seeking to protect the upper domain through the war in Aionios somehow stabilizing it after the collapse of the lower domain in the Xenosaga universe.

I haven't seen anyone theorize Pyra and Mythra being antagonists, an interesting theory for sure. I'm not sure if they would go down a dark path like that, especially due to their past regarding death and their desire to live normal lives, but perhaps they're desperate to keep the world Rex loved alive no matter the cost. I do think alot of XC2 characters will come back as you suggest. I also think Rex and Shulk will have a heavy presence in the game's lore and in the respective cultures of their countries. I think its possible we might even see some flashback of them back when they were alive.

Adding on more to the theory that the sides are divided because of their differing ideology: it might have to do with the cycle of rebirth. In XC1, the Bionis essentially survived by exploiting this cycle: creating life and then destroying it, then creating life again. This is why the Telethia exist, and so it makes sense for Melia, a High Entia, to despise the cycle of rebirth that the Bionis used. In XC2, core crystals become blades, which over time become titans, which then give birth to more core crystals, thus more blades and then more titans. Learning about this cycle and realizing its significance is at the center of XC2, and because of that Nia would be very much in support of the cycle of rebirth like with the core crystals, especially considering Nia herself is a blade. Thus, the two sides in disagreement.

I like your explanation of their possible ideologies, but I don’t think the characters of XC1 and XC2 would fight over something like that since it seems, the blade system is very different to what Zanza did.

@@premonitiative Thanks for clearing it up. I guess I am still at a lost why the Homs, Mechina and High Entias would have a problem with that specific blade rebirth idea. I imagine, since they are already exposed to the possibility of different sentient beings with different biologies (as with all the races in XC1), the the life cycle of Blades wouldn’t be a problem to them. It would be just another “type” of sentient being. It is purely ideological. I can’t see how someone like Shulk, Rex and friends would have problems with this from their character portrayal in the games so far. Unless there are specific reasons how the Blade rebirth cycle negatively intervene with XC1 characters’ life, I can’t see them fighting over that. XC1 ended with “a world with no gods”. XC2 ended with “god is one of us”. I sense they aren’t really the fanatical types either… Even if there is a war over ether to stabilize life, I can’t see how getting rid of the blades would help. Is it just because blades get to be “reborned” again?

I really hope that this is not the final part of the Xenoblade story let alone the Xeno story. You have to remember in Xenogears alone a period of 10,000 years is the entire games story. I sincerely hope that 3 could be the jumping point for a connection to x or something else. Hell we don’t even know what the ‘saviorite rebels’ are that Klaus mentions in XBC2! I’d love to see a prequel that explains that, as well as how the artifices were made, klaus as a human scientist, and even HOW ON EARTH KOSMOS IS IN XBC2. Because like it or not, that happened and we need an explanation for it.

Kosmos is kinda a feature of the Xeno universe thanks to her being Mary at the end of Saga. Her being there is either because the OG planet was Earth or she just appears in all new living domains. Though if the second is true Chaos should be around too, and he isn't

I could see it being the end of this chunk of story, assuming it ties up all the loose ends, of course. A trilogy just _sounds_ good, especially considering the *trinity* processor/Zohar. However, It’s definitely not the end of Xeno games. A prequel could actually be really cool, and I haven’t played or know too much about X, but I’m sure there’s more they can do with it considering what I know about the ending

I will say, I am interested in your idea that Pyra and Mythra basically take over the role of both Pneuma and Logos. It was a bit of a thing that I kinda didn't like how we got both of them back instead of just Pneuma, but if we have them both taking over to maintain the "trinity" processor, it works better for me. But I'm also just thinking now "Okay, who gets green hair, and who gets purple hair?"

If you don’t want to waste time grinding for cores. There is a cheat you could use. It requires ICloud or Nintendo Online. It’s basically where you can split the save function between ICloud and the switch itself and not save as together. So even when the game auto saves it saves on the switch itself and not the ICloud save. You can then change your switch save to be your ICloud save and try again. I did this bc I couldn’t just grind forever. You can probably look up details. Just an option

I've seen lots of comparisons online between the environments in the trailer and Noctilum and Oblivia in X. Specifically Oblivia, because that one shot in the trailer has the floating islands and something that could possibly make up that giant ring in the ground. Not sure if this means anything though.

I agree with a lot of your ideas, especially the Xenosaga comparisons. Vandahm or his lookalike in this trailer telling the party where to go and what do to reminded me of the role Nephilim had in Xenosaga. If Melia and Nia are the antagonists, could they be using eternal recurrence and the war between nations to "save" the universe? And maybe the party, potentially called ouroborous, are driven to find another way to save the universe like the Xenosaga party? Also, the differences between the Zohar and the Conduit could mean they are actually different, not just a rename. The Zohar gathered its power from the upper domain or wave existence, while the Conduit connected the different lower domain universes. Maybe even both could show up in Xenoblade 3?

There are a few minor differences between the Zohar and Conduit. For example, the XB Conduit was "nerfed" in the sense that it needs the Trinity Processor to function whereas the XG Zohar had a device attached that did those calculations automatically. Functionally though, they're exactly the same. In fact, the Zohar - Kadomony - Deus system from XG clearly mirrors the Conduit - Trinity Processor - Aion system from XC2, and the Siren Model kit even mentions Artifices using Slave Generators and refers to them as "Terminal Interface Weapons" (a XG term). Another point is when Klaus says that it's a "gift" from a "divine entity", which immediately brings U-DO to mind. Personally, I can't see the Conduit and Zohar as different things based on this, and it logically follows that they function in the exact same way. Of course, there's always the view that the entirety of the Xeno series is connected through the concepts of parallel Lower Domain universes and Eternal Recurrence (with Xenosaga 3 being the game that finally ends that cycle), but regardless of what view is correct, as far as we're concerned, there's only one Upper Domain. The Upper Domain fully transcends the lower, and while there are multiple existences within it, U-DO is the only one who made contact with the Lower Domain (and the XG Wave Existence is probably a subset of it). I also really like the idea that XC3 will correspond to the yet unexplored Perfect Works 6, as this series is notable for retelling the same stories in different worlds that have similar plot threads and themes. I think it'd be awesome if we got to see something like a full-power Aion with all three Trinity Cores and a 100% sync rate (cough *Aion*ios cough), or even U-DO itself, the centralising force behind this whole series.

I think Shion failed, and humanity's long night ended without a dawn. Now they desperately seek to protect the Upper Domain however they can. Or something like that, anyway.

I have theory about character that are most definitely coming back: the Ageis. Pyra/Mythra are still alive, Alvis is somewhere Malos is probably regenerating another 500 years to come back. He literally died I Torna and waited 500 years so he can most definitely come back since this war going on. Plus he still could communicate with Phenuma before she self destruct herself, so he still out there. You could say their might be a Trinity reunion to defeat the real enemy. Like on Xenoblade 1 group on their machine that fires a purple beams has the Ageis logo, underneath it for some reason I have no reason why but you know some Ageis stuff is about to go down. Maybe that's why we haven't seen them yet

He genuinely died at the end of Xenoblade 2 though, disintegrating entirely and speaking to Pneuma from the perspective of no longer being alive (asking her what it was like being alive).

PYRA and Myhra aka Phenuma had freedom to do whatever they pleased, they weren't under the influence of their drivers like he was with Almohis, that was his story was about. Rex himself said he wished he was Malos driver so Malos could of been free. Malos was basically corrupted by his driver hate and his programing forced him to play that role, he himself questions his own being. That's my two cents

Taion stated that "you're his fuel", could the ether released in death, keep the dimension stable? Perhaps Noah will change this fate once he grows aware of the "simulation" Just like Alvis guided shulk towards reality and obtained the "True Monado". The Xenoblade series could very well take place in a simulation. Once a mind becomes aware of this, they can change the future/reality. Perhaps Alvis will guide the player to such enlightment in Xenoblade 3? Some crazy theory's that I'm thinking out loud.

@@EnelXC I'm playing since the first Xenoblade Chronicles so I'm missing quite a lot info regarding the Xenosaga series. Perhaps there are some contradicting theory's I just put out. The Endless Knot in the 3 of the title is also symbolic, while the trailer keeps referring about a certain clock? The end of Xenoblade X was also in my mind "This Story Never Truly Ends" also fits the Endless Knot theme. Is the Clock symbolic? or is it something the world can interact with? I also have a crazy theory that is really far fetched. What if the world of XC, XC2 and XC3 is a simulation that the minds of the people that were uploaded to the lifehold experience? And that the clock is the lifehold shutting down. But the ending of XCX reveals that it's allready broken but somehow still functional. Thus supporting the Endless Knot theme. Some crazy ideas that are highly unlikely but still fun to share!

I thought I had is that Agnus is actually a confederation of all the Xenoblade 2 nations, and Nia is the current leader of the oligarchy. That could simplify it, instead of the game having to explain how all those nations fell. It was also implied at the end of FC that Melia pretty much became the queen of Shulk's world as a whole.

I think the "clocks" are the loading/power symbols on the weapons/mechs. The thing that looks like an oroboros in the trailer In the trailer when Noah and Mio are fighting the mech Mio says "the flame clock, it needs to go". So it's can't be the red marks beacause the robot doesn't have one.

My biggest hope is mechs. We saw them in the trailer and I want to get in a mech. I hope it’s more open world like x. I want multiplayer (someone can control another character in the party) And returning characters such as pyra zeke maybe Rex and I especially wanna see shulk. And most I wanna see Alvin. Maybe as our super weapon. Alvis is pyras brother. So why not?

A theory I thought about: I think every entity in the combined universe has a clock representing their lifetime they have left. The humans have to fight in order to live, so killing someone fills up their time (and the lifetime of the universe). But its strange why a fleeting world like that would be called Aionios, so I think souls will be reincarnated in an endless cycle. That would also explain, why Vandham is back and why Lanz says “I refuse to believe you are him”, indicating he knows a person from a different life. Lanz could be a reincarnation of Reyn. Eunie could either be Fiora (appearance) or Sharla (weapon and behaviour). Sena could be former Brighid and Mio could be Nia’s dead sister. (And Taion maybe Akhos but that’s really a long shot.) Ouroboros are either souls which reincarnate or people who have realized that they are reincarnation. When they realize this, their clocks change to a Ouroboros symbol. Either way, they hate this world, because they know, they can never rest in peace (much like the blades in XC2).

My theory for the symbol on the characters, is that it's the new "plot upgrade" for this game, where your party gets a power boost from doing certain things and reaching key plot moments. 1 had the new forms of the Monado, along with the new symbols for new powers along the way, while 2 had the new forms of Pyra, where she first got to become Mythra, and then Pneuma in the end... At a glance, the mark looks strikingly like the mark of the L'Cie from Final Fantasy 13, where it actually does work as a sort of "timer"! The mark indicates that a Fal'Cie (basicly a god) has marked you as it's servant to complete a mission, and along with the mark, you get a vision of what you are meant to do, but with no real indication of what the vision was. It also allows you to use magic to complete that mission, but you only have a limited time until you become a Cie'th, which is basicly a mindless zombie. My theory is that some "higher power" marks the main characters in a similar way, but maybe instead of being a "timer" for them, it might be an indication on how far along their journey they are, with more power being unlocked from it as they get closer and closer to finishing their mission

The soundtrack for Mechonis sounds very similar to the world tree and some parts are an exact copy. @@emblemblade9245 Ha ha, that would imply space Odyssey is more understandable than Xenoblade. Now you'll just have two series where you constantly say what the fuck just happened. They are naturally, wonderfully, very similar in that regard. But you will pretty much instantly recognize that space Odyssey is adored by, and used as a template springboard by the xeno franchises. Certain events and concepts keep getting used in various ways by the xeno franchise. So knowing what those events are, and how Takahashi spins them, will definitely let you see the shape of things to come. For example, the intro to Xenogears is inspired by the Jupiter scene in 2010, and has many parallels. The big difference is the former astronaut wave form existance In 2010 secretly informs the computer ai that something wonderful is happening and not to be afraid, and to send out a benevolent typed message to all the screens. Xenogears has a much different atmosphere, of something terrible happening, and the screen typing, 'ye shall be as gods' is an iconic chilling moment. The world destroying scene in the reveal scene at the end of Xenoblade and klauses narrative dump in xb2 (describing the same incident), is also a take on the concept from the Jupiter scene, and later others in space Odyssey, where the monoliths rearrange and repurpose matter to create new things, (like turning Jupiter into a sun) except gone horribly wrong by the folly of an overconfident man.

On the Poppi/Pyra/Mythra/Azurda possibilities: Pyra and Mythra know everyone else from XB2 are on fairly borrowed time, being mortal and all, so what if they decided, like you theorized, to go into hiding, but specifically with Poppi and Azurda as their "Guardians". Azurda will live for pretty much forever still since he's a Titan, and Poppi has essentially an unlimited lifespan as long as she's maintained, making them the ideal people from XB2 to serve as long term protectors for potentially two thirds of the Trinity Processor. Obviously the worst case scenario could play out, but my optimistic side hopes for this, because it means Poppi has Pyra, Mythra, and Azurda there for Tora's inevitable passing (because lets face it, Nopon do die of old age too. Its an inevitable fact). Can't wait to find out how everything plays out.

I don't think Nia and Melia will be antagonists. Xenoblade trailers have a tendency to take voice lines and cut scenes to mix them together even if they're not related. Some parts in the trailer actually hint at that. Vandham wearing a mask as well as Melia and Nia. uroboros is a symbol which can be drawn as a circle or a sideways eight. The standard outfit of Melia contains one giant Uroboros symbol in Xenoblade DE.

I don't see one dying while the other lives. Pyra and Mythra are kind of a package deal, both are definitely coming back. Mythra presumably feels the same way as Pyra about wanting to die with Rex, so it's possible they could die later on in the game as a way to finish their characters after all is said and done.

I have some theories 1: idk but nio has a way too similar crystal in her chest, probably nia long lost sister, also they have similar names too 2: The monado Noah has is very similar to the Final monado form of XC1, looks like its a physical ver of the final monado 3: The weapons Homs/Humans are using in the war seem to have a similar look to the monado, perhaps to cut mekon? Perhaps mekon still exist?, idk but probably shulk told them how to create a monado or a similar weapon before he died, he's probably still alive. 4: The nopon from the trailer look similar to the nopons of XC1 DLC, Probably they had children? Here’s another theory regarding Brighid. Could it be possible that Brighid became a flesh eater herself with Morag”s cells? She is the only main blade unaccounted for after all. Prya and Mythra are still alive being the Aegis and all. So is Dromarch, because of Nia. Poppi is Poppi. And Pandoria might still be around with Zeke. Maybe it was Morag”s wish to keep brighid alive with her memories, because of the impending doom coming and so she would be able to help her friends. Now I guess the only thing countering that is that her core would just be passed onto the next emperor, if Morag where to pass. But having a memory wiped Brighid would be unfortunate, if all the other main party blades are still there with their XC2 memories. I guess she had the journal, but still.

I watched your saga livestreams but the UMN symbol being an ourobros is something I would have never noticed definitely need to find a way to play saga and gears to catch those details for xc3. Also I I wonder if pyra and mythra and Alvis will be playable considering the themes and story of 2 emphasising them being at their best with their true driver and 1 ending with Alvis recognising shulk as a person who can wield his power to be the new god of that world. The way the remaining trinity processors will be used is definitely what I'm most excited to see with the story.

I think what likely happened isn't that the dimensional rift sent them to Xenoblade 2 rather they were already in the other world, just opposite sides of the landmass. Maybe, during this time something happened, and someone managed to build a mech suit that could pickup the Mechonis sword awhile the other nations of XC2 brought the Titans. Likely ending in a draw where both sides got placed side by side in a continuous war. After all, the universe recreation seen looks almost the reverse of the universe destruction scene. I digress

I do think there will be a Klaus 2 in some random character we do not know yet and that it will feel like the first chapter 10 scene from Xenoblade 2. A world with endless war and innovation. I think it's very possible that Shulk & especially Rex are still alive. Rex because it's implied with Amalthus that being the driver of an Aegis can grant someone long life (along with other, more solidly confirmed features). If Pyra & Mythra are still around somewhere, he could be as well. Shulk is harder to argue still being around, but there are ways it could be possible. Perhaps being the host of Zanza could've resulted in his body being one with a long life ahead of him. I think it's implied he extended Arglas & Dickson's lifespan, so it's in the realm of possibility; but then again Giants could just naturally live that long for all we know. But hey, plus side; if this is true then there's chance Fiora is around too. Another possibility is that he might still be considered the Driver for Alvis/Ontos even after he left, which again, would extend his life. Logic aside, I hope they're both still around. It'd be cool to see them again and have them interact with the new heroes in the new world; maybe have them acting behind the scenes to try and stop the "real enemy".

Rex is hiding himself, Dickson style, and he is Vandham. Notice how Vandham has a fusion of Zeke's and Vandham's appearances, except for one thing. They didn't have golden eyes. Mio's existence ties into Rex (because she is obviously his daughter) and Rex has taken Nia in as his third personal blade.

As for Rex being the Vandam-look alike, that makes zero sense cause not only would Rex have to grow up to be an exact twin of Vandam but he'd coincidentally have to get into a confrontation that would give him the same scars as Vandam which would be highly unlikely. Let's also ignore the fact that this character clearly has Vandam voice and there is quite literally no way for Rex to grow-up to somehow mimic Vandam accent and sound one-to-one. Of course, I could be completely wrong but as of this moment I disagree with the idea of the Vandam-look alike being Rex.

Kinda worth noting is Xenosaga uses visions to show possible future confrontations KOSMOS has with U-DO. The most prolific vision sees KOSMOS in space squaring off with a planet. A planet sized U-DO rips it's way through the crust. In that vision U-DO looks very much like a mech, kinda like the ones from the Xenoblade series. (That's sequence is in the better Xenosaga 2 trailers).

The very obvious anime plot that pops into my mind given the Keves and Agnus setup goes something like 1. Keves and Agnus are fighting because of some conspiracy/misunderstanding/manipulation by "the real enemy" 2. Party realizes this, get together to stop it. During this period Keves and Agnus (and thus Melia and Nia) are persecuting them and acting as antagonists. 3. Big reveal at the halfway point thanks to protagonists, Keves/Melia and Agnus/Nia realize they've been manipulated/don't need to fight and join forces against the "real enemy". After this point they're presented as sympathetic allies. 4. Big bad fight Of course, this is super cookie cutter and Xeno usually goes way weirder than it, so there's probably some twist on the formula in there. On the other hand, XC1 basically had this plot with Bionis vs Mechonis but all of the characters were from one side, and the twist was that the Bionis itself was evil actually.

With the help of some interview of Takahashi, xenoblade x reject idea and the xeno lore I'm sure that in Xenoblade X mira is the future of Aionios. Some nopon mention in X xenoblade 1 like "frontiers village". Elma was planed to have a core cristal (so to be a blade). And with the concept art of Celica race it's not impossible to think that they are the evolution of Hight Entia. We know too that the prone and the zabbouton were created by someones who possess the same DNA as human ( Klaus created alerst with DNA Earth life form). More over the plot of Xenoblade 3 was planed between the end of xenoblade 1 end development and the beginningof 2 development. So probably during X development. What I think is that Klaus reboot the universe and recreate a new earth like Wilhelm want in saga. It could be something else that appears in 3 story. I'm faithful in my conclusions but it's only theories. Don't take it as predictions. If you are interested by X reject idea Luxin made a big video on it.

We know the Machina are back because Lanz IS a Machina, since he has the 2-tone grey metallic skin with gold Filigree and LEDs in his body, they wouldn't just make him the only Machina. And before anyone says anything, no, he is not Indoline, not only is Lanz native to the nation of Keves which is only Xenoblade 1 races, but Indoline are bright monotone blue with forked ears.

It also makes sense cause only Machina, along with High Entia would know how to build those giant Mechon like weoponry we see for the Keves army. While the Sword including Noah's are based on Shulk's Replica Monado While the Alrest inhabitants likely built their mechs and weoponry using the leftover Gargoyle and Siren Artifices, plus whatever relics in the lost City and what's left of the World Tree, they don't seem to be depending on Titans anymore and we can't say what the status of Blades are.

I think lanz is a human machina hybrid, not just a straight machina. If he was just a machina he would still be in their infant stage unless they somehow got rapid aging. Same with Eunie being probably a mix of human and an already hybrid high entia so her aging would be more normal and the childhood friend narrative works properly.

thing im thinking is that the people of xc1 and xc2 (esp blades) have grown dependent on ether, and with the removal of the zohar, it destatbilized the cycle of life. (blades in particular, might not be able to survive usually then, but who knows, we have at least one in our party) clocks, therefore, might be a way of artificially maintaining a bodys ether, and seers redistribute that ether to clocks. interestingly, this does have parallels to your theory, just w a different underlying cause.... i wonder what the truth will be in xc3?

I was thinking that maybe we don't see any Urayans in the trailer because they were all wiped out when the Mechonis sword fell on Uraya (if such a thing happened). I still feel however that the trailer is maybe misleading us into believing that Melia and Nia (if it's them) are the leaders of both factions. While I could understand how Melia arrived at such a position, I struggle to see how Nia would achieve to gain such power. Maybe it's also because I watched the trailer with the French subtitles and it gives a little differant nuance to what they are saying. Melia talks about 'Les Ouroboros', meaning the Ouroboros in plural, not a singular entity (as in a group or organistion named Ouroboros). It feels like she is talking about many Ouroboros (as in a group of monster/machines/fog beasts) that abhor this world and that we need to fight them. What Nia says is even more interesting. In English she sounds evil as in 'Destroy them all' whereas in French she says something like 'The traces of their passage must be erased'. She is not calling for the eradication of a group of people but more like a group of people came, made some damage/ left some traces, and those need to be erased/destroyed. I got the feeling that something (fog beasts, ouroboros things?) is corrupting the world. Maybe that's where the Off-seer comes in. They are erasing the traces of the dead soldiers, before they get corrupted or something. Now that's of course only my interpretation, without more context, it's hard to be sure what they mean... PS: I also noticed that they translated 'clocks' to 'cadrans' which means 'clock face'. It's quite similar but not the same. It means there are no clock mechanism involved and that it's just a visual output. Also 'flame clock' is translated as 'cadran vital' so vital clock.
