Hey everyone! In this video, I will attempt to explain two different interpretations of the Xenoblade Chronicles timeline and how the games are connected. Of course, please do not watch this video if you haven't beaten both Xenoblade 1 and 2, as there are massive spoilers ahead. Nonetheless, please enjoy!

Couple things: -21st century. 20XX is the 21st century, not the 20th. -When Zanza gave the Telethia intelligence, it wasn’t that he “did not intend to do this”. He absolutely did it on purpose. He means it was a mistake in the sense that he believed he had exhibited poor judgement.

Interestingly, when XC3 was recently revealed, they also revealed its world's name to be Aionios and that it tells the future of both XC1 and XC2. The cover motive is Uraya again, but stubbed with the Sword of Mechonis.

I actually have a headcanon which suggests that Klaus' expirement not only created the XC1 and XC2 universes (and possibly X's), but created the entire Nintendo multiverse aswell. Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Metroid, etc were all created from that one experiment.

2:30 For anyone who is curious about what this means and about the full power of the conduit, I'd recommend playing the rest of the Xeno series. Xenogears and Xenosaga (The predecessors to Xenoblade) stories are HEAVILY tied to the conduit (also known as the Zohar) and are also just great games. Much of the confusing descriptions of the conduit were references to those games. They do take place in alternate universes (most likely the ones that Klaus was referring to) but they have A LOT of overlap.

I'm sorry, but that's just incorrect. "Xenogears" and "Xenosaga" have absolutely nothing to do with the story of "Xenoblade" beyond being a spiritual successor. If you actual play "Gears" and "Saga", yes, there are some similarities, such as its shape, the fact that they were found in a lake in Africa at an undisclosed point of the 21st century and that it drew initially attention due to its ability to produce infinite energy, but that's where all similarities end. Once you actually enter the story, their functionalities vary drastically. Namely, neither in "Gears" nor "Saga" the Zohar is a link to any multi-verses. In "Gears", it's the vessel of a god-like entity named the Wave Existence, which keeps it trapped in the realm of the human. While in "Saga" it's literally part of U-DO, the actual God of the "Saga" universe. Yes, Takahashi likes to reuse concepts to previous works here and there, but he's not trying to remake the story from "Perfect Works". No, not even in a "let's change enough stuff so neither Square nor Namco can sue us" kind of way. That just falls apart under the slightest scrutiny. I know tons of fans of Monolith desperately want all three franchises to be part of the same narrative, but that's just wishful thinking.

@@XanderVJ (Xenogears/Xenosaga spoilers, obviously) Firstly, the zohar isn't a vessel in which a god-like entity exists. It is a gateway to a higher alternate dimension where these entities exist. In Gears, the wave existence becomes trapped in this gateway between its dimension and the xenogears dimension. In Xenoblade 2, Klaus says the conduit links to mutliple dimensions including a dimension in which energy is just pouring out of which is how pyra/mythra can use their power. In gears and saga, the zohar connects to a higher dimension in which a god like entity exists which basically serves the same function. Also if you look on the wiki the conduits assets are literally named 'zohar' in the game files. The whole thing with africa was just more proof the conduit and zohar are the same things. In all instances, the zohar/conduit serves as a gateway to other dimensions and an energy source. Just because it isn't stated in gears/saga that the zohar can connect to dimensions other than the one in which the wave existences are in doesn't mean its not possible. I mean I think the evidence is pretty conclusive on this one. In the siren model kit, they also describe the conduit using the same phrases perfect works describes the zohar with, such as MAM (Magenetic Abnormal Matter). Edit: Further proof, both the conduit and zohar were used to destroy earth by sending parts of it to other realms. They really just serve the same function here in the story. Just because the zohar got a redesign and a new part of its abilities that was explained doesn't mean it isn't the zohar.

Super cool video. Another neat point is that when Shulk is shot by Dickson and dies, he enters a dream like state with Alvis, surrounded by outer space, and is brought back to life by him. Just like Pyra brings Rex back to life after he’s stabbed by Jin, the dream like place both Shulk and Rex enter are places their trinity processor counterparts would have data or memory of, being outer space where Ontos last was seen in the original universe and Elysium in the state it was originally designed to be in.

I believe that core crystals were originally used as replacements for brain cells, before the conduit had even created a separate universe. Due to their regenerative properties, they caused some of humanity to persist as what are called guldo, when they should have died. They weren't created after the activation of the conduit, but merely repurposed. Amalthus COULD have more than one blade (Minoth, Haze, etc.), but didn't awaken the second aegis core because they would end up just like malos. That's why Addam, his polar opposite, was tasked with awakening it instead.

I think the reason the conduit is described as a magnetic material is because it’s clearly inspired by the monolith placed in Africa in 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s counterpart (or perhaps it’s the same object) later found on the moon is discovered during magnetic surveys which is why the discovery is known as TMA-1, Tycho Magnetic Anomaly 1 (it’s found in the Tycho crater). The conduit is definitely inspired by 2001’s TMA-1. Well, technically the conduit is inspired by the Zohar from Xenogears and Xenosaga but they’re all the same thing and all inspired by the 2001 monolith. Hell, they named themselves Monolith Soft when they left Square.

Personally I don't believe the trinity processor created a new universe just for Klaus and Gelea. I believe activating the conduit did indeed create an entirely new universe thats basically a pocket dimension with half Klaus and Gelea being the only inhabits and basicully turned them into gods. Said activation also pulled Ontos into it and he became the overseer of the world and only him, granting Klaus and Gelea monado's but is neutral. That's how I see it, I believe Ontos came into the xenoblade 1 world either at the same time or VERY shortly after.

It's mighty interesting that the Conduit is described as a perpetual motion machine. Given what we learned from the XC3 trailer, the world they live in not only is locked in an eternal battle they also seem to be overseen by someone or something called "Ouroboros" -- the snake eating its own tail, a neverending circle. A circle that never stops, like a perpetual machine. If the Conduit still exists in Aionios, whoever oversees this current world, might still be able to harness its power through the ritual of off-seeing fallen soldiers that we have seen in the trailer and harnessing whatever energy comes from the dead or those who fill their clock-like things on their weapons. Though, a perpetual machine like the Conduit wouldn't exactly need an external energy source. I really appreciate your video. Especially for the interesting stuff I missed in XC2. Your explanations had good structure making it easy to follow. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for this I suffer from memory problems and struggled to make sense of the overall story as I could not remember everything through these massive games. However I am a big fan of them and this video has helped me feel more prepared for Xenoblade chronicles 3. Also from your video it sounds like Xenoblade chronicles X was humans who left earth before Klaus created the portal's maybe as explorers or to escape the battles I never finished Xenoblade chronicles X so I don't know the whole story or even remember much of it I only really remember the world the music and characters also I enjoyed what I played. Hopefully it will come to the switch.

I agree that XCX must be connected and could be humans from the base universe/planet. Considering they run into mechanical aliens, this could give weight to the interpretation that the alternate universes/worlds already existed - instead of being created - and Klaus’ events merely linked earth/humans to these other places.

I heard a theory once that maybe the hom's were descendents of the giants who traveled to the lower regions of the bionis and eventually evolved to be very small. After all the tomb inside Tephera cave of that one giant is really small for a giants tomb.

The giants were in reference to large humanoid Titans, like Zanza. However they were also a reference to ancient piloted SKELL armor. Xenoblade Chronicles takes place like 1000 years after Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Which takes place a couple thousand years after Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Homs are human, they just forgot about most of their history. Because humanities historical achieves were destroyed in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Xenoblade is based on the premise of humanity starting over, amongst the relics of our once advanced civilization. There's SO much to say on the subject and I don't want to annoy you with a wall of text. So to keep it short I'll simply say that in Xenoblade 1 zippers exist, and in Xenoblade 2 they haven't evolved beyond buttons. Also Morag's uniform looks like something a soldier from the 1700's would wear, and Rex's diving suit was also modeled after that era. Clearly those are indicators that this is supposed to be a different time period.

The ambiguity behind why the tech is different is just as mysterious as why we hear Shulk's voice. Nothing is definitively explained. Our speculation is currently our best resource. Also I think we hear Shulk's voice, because Shulk is connected to the ultimate cataclysm. I could be wrong about everything i said, and he could be right. just saying that i'm gunna keep an open mind until things are definitively explained.

Given the heavy references to Xenosaga in Future Connected, Klaus' experiment likely opened a portal to what is known in Xenosaga as the imaginary domain, an ethereal world where ether takes on physical shapes, this stands in contrast to the nature of ether in Alrest, which is the real domain, the physical world, where ether is not tangible; this is why ether comes together in the shape of crystals in the Endless Sea, but in Alrest it flows accross the world as an imaterial energy. Considering the worlds have collided in Xenoblade 3 it is likely ether is no longer crystallizing, and to get pure ether it is necessary to extract it from living beings, which is what I'm betting the offseer song does, and the overall purpose of the war between Keves and Agnus, which, following the parallels with Xenogears, are the new sacrificial lambs, except this time it's probably not some third kingdom doing the harvesting, but rather the ether is being harvested to keep the Fog Beasts at bay, using Shulk's ether field technology, which in Xenosaga was called the Hilbert Effect and was used to defeat the Gnosis.

I'm so curious what other facet of this multiverse the third game could explore, seeing as all three cores, the conduit, and both parts of Klaus's soul have been destroyed -- I have the game I just get back home to my switch on Sunday, so please don't spoil! Anyway, what a cool story that I can't wait to experience!

Awesome vid, here's some random thoughts: Watching the Orbital ring activate is symbolic of Ouroboros. The Ouroboros plays a heavy part in XC3 as almost every participant of battle (soldiers and mechs) has a "life-clock" fashioned as one. I'm irritated as to how a guldo came in possession of Galea's ID badge. She was in the "womb" of the new universe when things happened, so... how did her ID make it out of that room, off that station, and down to Morthya (Earth?) Did her soul transfer while her body remained and became a guldo? Did a wandering guldo find a spare? It's there for arbitrary plot reasons of "hey, she looks familiar" but the whole thing just doesn't make sense. Then there's Blades. From a franchise perspective, it was awesome how they let all these guest artists go wild and basically make Xenosona, but in-lore, I wish all blades kept the same technoorganic/neo-makina design ascetic. It would be a way less ...creative game, but it would put my mind more at ease if every blade was of that design; or not at all (every blade ever being unique.) However, that gripe made me see a meta parallel between 1 and 2. As with the contrasting forms of life that began in the Zanzaverse, life took contrasting forms on Alrest. The guldo remained as biological abominations, while the etherclouds and core crystals seeded blades. Vaguely, these evolutions of humanity are similar to the lifeforms that Zanza and Mayneth eventually became. Of course, becoming grand titans because they were at ground zero. Lastly, does anyone else think Torna (the titan) has telethia-like features? Namely the wings. The closest XC2 has to a telethia is Amaldus' transformation; in that it features a similar carapace and a row of eyes in the helm. This motif would fit considering that A. Amalthus' conviction was the erasure of mankind, and B. telethia are associated as "endbringers." It seems those destined to "carte blance" mankind take on this form in some fashion. So is it possible that Torna is in some form a telethia? Other than that, the Xenoblade series has me by the balls in terms of lore-presentation. It's like a more digestible Nier.

So how could that be that Torna was an "endbringer" if it was the last birthing Titan? Other than the whole thing of no more blades = no more titans = no mo places to live as those around died and fell to the earth under the Eryth Sea. Also with XBC3 coming out I can't wait to see how this timeline will now play out.

I would assume the same thing that happened to Klaus happened to Galea they just got seperated somehow during the even and she ended up down in Morytha totally cut off from Klaus. By the time Klaus began modifying what's left of his body and recreating like she and the remaining survivors desperate to survive had taken core crystals into their bodies horribly mutating into Guldos and losing what remained of their humanity.

Seen fans call it the “Klaus Trilogy,” and that 3 is gonna be the grand finale to that overarching plot line. I’m totally down for that, IF that’s the case. Literally no way to know until we play the game. I admit, it DOES feel like the culmination of the bigger story of Klaus, the created universes, the Alvis/Trinity/Aegis/Monado computer, and the casts of characters that moved these events along. Not just the Xenoblade, but also other Xeno games' timelines starts with a "conduit." What changes is what the conduit looks like or is labeled - here it is Conduit, in Xenosaga and Xenogears, it's "the Zohar". All the Xeno games are honestly just reworking the same origin story - the "monolith" that drastically alters human technology. Hence "Monolith Soft", the company's name.

@this city is really a city That's a good point. I've always seen Xenoblade Chronicles X as a sort of "pseudo" MMORPG. The Wii U was never powerful enough for one, and this was the closest thing Monolith Soft could probably come up with. That being said, the Lifehold serves as the "monolith" in that game.

We know from xenoblade 3 that the conduit specifically split the Xenoblade universe into two(the 2 we see in xeno 1 and 2) but it's likely that it also linked/ created other universees.

Since both games are happening at the roughly the same time, The ending of 2 could have very possibly been the world of xenoblade 1, if by shulk having defeated zanza and transforming their world at the same time rex and crew crossed the rift that landed them and the titans on new continents. Of course, this is all assuming the planet that they live on has been restored, and shulks side of the world may not know that there is in fact "land". Edit: we also have to consider "future connected" here as well, Since it takes place one year after the events of everything else. Maybe it took time for both sides to discover each other? Which is the events that will be told in 3

We know for a fact that Rex's world is (was?) Earth, or at least the orbital space station is the only remnant of that universe, because there are signs in the hallways that have the letters of what looks like it to say "U.S goverment" right when you leave the elevator and first see the planet and pass the blue security gate I am reading wayyyyyy into this, but it is always fun to speculate! Remember when rex finally met Klaus? At the end of that conversation, he made a remark about finally getting to see mayneth, I think he knew that his universe was nearing it's end.

We know it was created by Klaus using the Conduit, indicating the Conduit is the primary source for Xenoblade 1 world's creation, and likely its continuation. So, at the same time as Shulk was defeating Zanza and choosing how to remake the world, the Conduit was disappearing from Alrest, which begs the question of if Shulk or Alvis could have created another world entirely, or even just remodel the current one, given the impending loss of their energy source. The most logical explanation I can think of is that Alvis, instead of making a new world or remaking the Xenoblade 1 world, just erased the construct, possibly including himself, dumping what was left of the Xenoblade 1 world into Xenoblade 2, using the last of the Conduit before it disappeared entirely. It was also probably a fair ways away from Alrest and Elysium, since I think FC would have seen them run into each other had they been geographically close.

I have a theory as to why three Monados are present in 1. When Alvis's aegis core was sent to Shulk's world, it was divided into three pieces. One piece went to Zanza and became his Monado, the second piece went to Meyneth and became hers, the third would remain with Alvis and become Shulk's third Monado. Note that they all lack the presence of the aegis core on it. Both the other Aegis swords have the core on them.

I disagree. It is clearly stated by Alvis himself. He IS Monado itself (which means life itself, the creator of the world, the holder of all the power, etc). Alvis is nothing more than a core processor of a computer, along with two others. To use a computer, you simply need access and knowledge of how it works. You give the computer commands, and it uses its power to execute them. Alvis is one of three parts of the computer of the conduit. The weapon “monados” and the conduit “monado” are the exact same thing. I think that the universes from Xenosaga and Xenoblade are connected. Xenosaga begins with a cutscene showing archeologists finding the Conduit (Zohar), and this even is mentioned in Xenoblade. In Xenosaga, they say that earth is no longer a place people can live (refered as Lost Jerusalem) probably because of that same event in which Klauss activates the Conduit. It's also good to mention that Fifth Jerusalem has a structure VERY similar to the Orbital Stations from Xenoblade. There are Space Elevators and an Orbital Ring surrounding it. Man, I wish they make a remake of the Xenosaga Trilogy.

so with xc3 being now a thing where xc1's and 2's world combining, though shulk probably not creating not a new universe but teleporting the xc1 universe into the xc2 universe using klaus who was partially in both as a preexisting hole in space time to do it without needing specifically to know that there even is such a thing as the xc2 universe, i'm pretty sure that the xc1 universe was just a pocket universe where some amount of ether got blown away out of the xc2 universe creating a new universe which would explain why the xc1 universe is 100% ether while the xc2 one is not and because its a pocket universe with way less matter it makes sense why in that universe is around 10 times faster allowing all of the bionis mechonis war up to thousands years latter the things in xc1 happening in the same time as the stuff from torna the golden country to only hundreds of years letter the things of xc2 happening.
