Some of the lists I tested had strike it rich, desperate ritual, and/or goblin anarchaeomancer…they led to too many dread draws, unfortunately. I think relying on Ragavan to get him out quicker if the best move 🙌🏼 Fable of the mirror breaker is also a solid option for this deck 👍🏼

I used to really like playing Burn in modern, but it really feels like deck just can't handle the midrange slop the format has devolved into. This looks cool and makes me wanna see if I can salvage my old lis.

I think you should be on less creatures. Ragavan, while being a good card isn’t lending much to your strategy. I think rampaging ferocidon is too slow. I think a thermo alchemist package would be strong here, as well as burn spells in place of rags

Yea, those thoughts were my initial thoughts as well…but testing yielded poor results. The inclusion of Ragavan significantly improved this deck’s win rate and speed.

Oh yeah I've had some fun trying to build this in standard. Relying on Kessig Flamebreather and whatever other 1 or 2 damage sources I can chuck together with my shitty collection lol, but it's fun cos it seems like you're doing nothing and then all of a sudden, Larry is there and they die. So surely it can work with many better cards to play with in Modern.

They do similar things but together they do not work. Because the affected object is your opponent, they get to decide how to order the replacement effects, meaning they can apply Torbran first, then apply Larry which sets it to 4 still.

@@tankdempsey1818 I understand, but still - bumping damage from lava dart to 3 instead of 4 is not a bad deal, and having i.e. 6x this effect instead of just 4x would increase consistency. Still, 4 cmc is very steep in decks like that, which is why i'm asking :)

@@Control4Daze Seeing as there is no nonred source in deck, i assume you mean too high cmc with ie 2 torbens, as it bumps 4cmc to 6 cards? If so i agree, mono red relies on cheaper cards at least in this iteration. Still, i could see some kind of a more control red list where they're bros :)

Yes…I had it in the most of the lists I tested, but I gradually shaved from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 to 0. It’s just such a weak card on its own - without Larry, it was just bad 😕

This is mgto, it is an older mtg client that still contains older and eternal formats like pioneer, modern,legacy and vintage. There is still standard in Arena and they have their own version of pioneer i think. This client is mostly used for the older non rotating formats though.
