Planeswalkers made Wildfire a brutal lockout piece. This deck archetype of running red PWs with Wildfire/Burning of Xinye to establish a presence, then lock down the board and let the walkers win is one of my favorites.

I love Wildfire! As a longtime Dice Factory fanatic, wildfire was a classic finisher that left just your charged up Astral Cornucopia and your opponent with absolutely nothing. I fricking love this style of deck!! (big mono red fan here). Im curious what you think of swapping the ramp/pillage package and add a prison package (blood moon/ensnaring bridge), this way you can deal with today's mana hungry competitive decks and agressive rhino/draco crap. Let me know what you think !!
@Control4Daze
@Control4Daze 10 ай бұрын
I didn’t want to add blood moon bc it would become too much like the meta mono-red decks that were out there…I was trying to be different. Bridge seems reasonable. I tried a few different variations of the list before settling on this one. This one performed the best 🙌🏼

You know what I like about this deck? It challenges conventional wisdom for the modern format. Ask most players and they will tell you that you're not going to do well in modern with a top end of 6 mana that doesn't have a lot of ramp, that mana rocks aren't that good in modern, that a bulk rare of Tarkir block isn't work running. Decks like this give me hope for my own decks to perform well :)

Your rapid video edits do challenge my innately spacious circuitry, but I do enjoy this style of deck, as a dedicated control mage. BoshNRoll has produced entertaining videos on the Cleansing Wildfire / Boom/Bust builds. This one that you wield however is more merciless and austere. Aside from obviously great taste in decks, you seem like a kind human being with your preemptive apologies to the opponent and "be well" wish at this presentation's conclusion. I like kind compassionate people. I like kind compassionate people who beat up on all the popular decks with edgy control flavor slightly more. 😆 Have you considered maybe a single Koth of the Hammer? His middle ability ramps you into land wipes, then plus for a quick clock. It is likely less than stellar, though I nonetheless suggest. Because Planeswalkers. All the justification right there. Could be neat. Actually, Jaya Ballard provides a bevy of enabling tech - including free Pillage's! You like Pillage. That is my flawless hard sell. And thanks for the helpful zooming into cards, although their screen time is quite brief! Be well.
@Control4Daze
@Control4Daze Жыл бұрын
This is one of the most well written comments I’ve ever gotten haha. You described yourself as spacey, but this is some well written/thought out stuff! I did briefly consider Koth, but the curve was already pretty high, and Chandra just felt like the better 4-mana option. Jaya, however, I did not consider…in fact, had to look up what it did. She could definitely be viable in this shell - great recommendation! But all in all, thank you so much for tuning in, I’m grateful you’re here! I appreciate the kind words!

@@Control4Daze To clarify, I characterize myself as "spacious", not "spacey" - very different situation. Meaning, I live life at a methodical, deliberate pace with space in my thoughts and actions. Imagine the converse of ADHD. That is basically it. 😀 Glad you liked my input, and thank you for the sentiments. I like to write. Jaya Ballard offers a unique control slant to a red shell with intriguing abilities. Sweet artwork too. That counts. I can certainly relate to mana curve considerations.
