Thanks! Yes, it's only fair to create them, if I'm doing a script for the video anyway. It makes videos far more accessible to a global audience. Now subscribed to you.

There is a substantial difference in 'height/reach', so you never hit the kill switch accidentally.

@@OrlandoRick in my moderately well fitting but length spare in thumb gloves on my ninja 1000 sx i found usage of the cruise on left hand side a bit fumbling without stopping to examine when I was learning it on the fly the other day I could imagine pressing wrong button fairly easily

@@majordelays4909 You'd think, but in two year ownership of two bikes (my wife and I) neither has ever hit the kill switch by accident. In practice it is not as close as it seems from the video.

My only problem with my 22 Ribelle cruise control button...my thumb is only half as long as it would need to be, so I end up having to use my left hand to reach over to the right grip...makes me feel so stupid.

Hahaha *tries to pronounce motor* 😂 Lower scoring Scrabble friends LOL, I've never heard that but it made my day. You're totally right that REAL tourers don't do 500 miles a day. They don't even do 300 miles a day. Anything more than that and you're going for some kind of record, or you're in a rush to get somewhere and forgot to buy flights. Also, what happened to everybody's sense of adventure? When did ICE bikers get so lazy that charging is "too hard"? I think it adds an extra level of challenge to a trip and makes things more interesting. Amazing review, John!

Nice review! I really enjoy the attention to technical details and specifications. I went to Milan in September to test ride it (on my own dollar, really wanted to make sure it was right for me before ordering). You didn’t get to open the frunk, but inside of it (on the sides) there is enough space to store charging cables (it's intent). It’s opened electronically by holding the SET button down for a bit (no key required unlike other bikes). The space to the front of it (towards the hinge) has been widened to allow inserting smaller chargers (like a TurboCord) and larger charging cable connectors. You can always have your charging cables with you even if you didn't bring along luggage with it (another touring-oriented feature). You are right, the seat IS narrower, hence making it easier for some to reach down, even if it is a taller bike. It's also re-sculpable by a seat cobbler if someone needs a lower seat (it has more patting than the Ribelle). The extra flickable feel is a result of a much smaller (lower mass) backwards-spinning motor (that’s an industry new). The motor is capable of 13,000 RPM but limited to a little over half of that on the Experia for its touring-focused performance needs; I presume we will see much more powerful versions of it on other models. For touring/range consideration, I learned that the Experia was further refined using actual wind tunnels (not just fluid dynamic software as everyone else uses) to minimize its wind resistance and improve the range regardless of driver size. In short, the Experia has a much smaller wind-impact than other similar sized and looking adventure-style motorcycles. After my 2.5 hour test ride in the Italian hills near Modena; I feel that the Experia will deliver a longer range than advertised. BTW, recently at EICMA in Milan, Energica did announce a new optional 5-year battery warranty (unlimited miles) for those concerned about battery wear (this shows confidence by Energica on its battery reliability).

A nice and calm presentation. Lot of detail information. Thanks. Ribelle rider here. About navigation. I have the SP Connect socket mounted which also does wireless charging of my iPhone. Very quick and easy mounting and dismounting. I would say it's even better than a carplay/android solution. Leaves the bike screen free. And, on carplay at least, the apps are crippled and not the experience as on phone.

Very nice review!! This is the first review with real depth i'm seeing! Thank you for that! The Experia is on my list vs the Zero DSRX, I already own a Zero SRF, but need a 145 km range on the Highway. With my Zero SRF i'm happy if i get 100 km on the highway. So next spring, i'll be testing the Experia for sure!
@jtchivers2 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I hope you enjoy it! The DSR/X is also a great bike, but if you're purely road riding and somewhere with plenty of DC rapid charging, the EXPERIA makes more sense to me.

Great review! I 100% agree with you on bespoke navigation systems, they need to drop them and just adopt Android and Apple. This is the first electric moto I've given serious consideration to, I love that fast charging. I prefer adventure touring (aka normal touring, but I like to imagine going off-road, lol), so I'd want a 19" up front and and extra inch or so of suspension travel. I also think they could squeeze more battery onboard if they had it poke out the sides like boxer headers.
@SwitzeroRider2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this review. How would you compare the handling of the Experia vs the DSR/X?
@gmy332 жыл бұрын
Dsrx has more offroad set up with bigger shock... experia has more range bigger batt faster charging and much better customer service .. so yeah even if the dsrx would be a little more nimble or powerfull (which i highly doubt) ..the choice is pretty easy .. and yes i like the dsrx too ..but have had too many troubles with zero service
@jtchivers2 жыл бұрын
They both handle fine, but they're different bikes for different jobs. The EXPERIA is a sports tourer, but the Zero DSR/X is an adventure bike. A lot will depend on personal riding preference, how much off-roading you do, whether AC or DC charging works better for you, and perceptions of value, reliability, and ongoing service from prospective manufacturers.

Nice. The left control is the same as on the Zero. I mean, even the LiveWire has them. And yes, you are right. A normal Navi will do the job. Zero provides good reasons for a normal navigation system with its lousy system.

I could see myself owning an Eva Ribelle as it’s a bony looking bike, but I’m not sure I could live with the drive train whine. I’d prefer the smooth hum of the Zero, but no DC no bueno

Why use any satnav screen, be it on the bike or a phone? Just stick a Beeline Moto on the handlebars with its arrows showing which way to turn and the distance to the next turn, all connected to Google maps.
@jtchivers Жыл бұрын
Google Maps doesn't differentiate between waypoints, via points, and shaping points in the way my Garmin does, and if you do plot multiple points, it doesn't continue when you arrive at a point without your input to continue. There are several other advantages to a dedicated GPS unit, such as finding things en route, monitoring progress between points on the journey, traffic alerts, easy management of diversions, and screening incoming phone calls for instance. Well, it's worked for me for over 20 years. I do use Google Maps on Android Auto in the car when going from A to B though and it would be good to have that by default on more motorbikes.

What I didn't like: Price, autonomy, final speed and..., long pauses for recharges. I think electric bikes are the future, but for now, they are still very limited by the above dislikes hahaha
