This is a must have for Xbox users. Just make sure you get 4 batteries so you can charge one set while you play. However Xbox controllers last a LONG time.

the reason it takes you 5hrs to charge it now is because you’ve used it a lot and overtime the battery capacity deteriorated therefore u have to charge it for a shorter period of time.

Actually, the reason why it takes so long to charge on its very first charge is because these are not lithium ion batteries. These days, we're all used to the charging cycle & habits of Li-ion batteries, whether it's our cell phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, flash lights, etc etc etc. These are Nickel-metal hydride batteries, which means it's best to slow charge them, (otherwise known as a "trickle charge"). So why these instead of the more common Li-ion? NiMH batteries are a drop-in replacement for Alkaline (meaning they can be swapped out with NiMH without issue), also, low internal resistance allows for a steady, constant voltage until the battery is completely drained (i.e. they don't get significantly weaker as the battery is being used). There are other reasons (price being yet another, they're significantly cheaper to make than Li-ion) but I can't go on forever. I will say one thing; rechargeable batteries (specifically AA) saved me hundreds of dollars over the past couple years.

Thank you, thank you! I just spent an hour searching this topic for my new Energizer charger (Home Depot) as well as another charger. Your video is quite informative, kinda humorous and yes effective. Thanks for saving me from the red light fixation.. knowledge is freedom! Btw I also learned for safety purposes..NEVER leave home with a battery on a charger, (especially if you have pets) and even while home, we periodically check the charger right? But here's a question..how hot is too hot after they've been on the charger? Mine are pretty warm and the led indicates "red" which means it's still charging..

I was at the grocery store looking at the batteries because my Xbox controller just eats them up. And I saw the Energizer rechargeable batteries, I thought "should I keep spending about 4 bucks for batteries over and over. Or pay 13 bucks once and get my moneys worth" when rechargeable batteries were becoming big I always heard that they don't last that long so you'll have to charge them a lot but so far, they seem fine. I'm glad I talked myself into buying it. Do you think i should buy 2 more rechargeable batteries so I can always have a pair in use and the other charging/charged? Or is the pair that came with the charging dock good enough?

Yeah it's a slow charge. Sometimes it take 12 hours to go from red to green. I think some people don't wait long enough for it.

Thank you for stating how long they take to charge. I used to have another Energizer charger that worked fantastic and had individual lighting for each battery. This one had me confused even though read it takes around 6hours and over reviews as one person stated it took nearly a day which I was hoping it was defective. Now seen it just is I'll wait out patiently. I mean it was cheaper than my other charger by few bucks so there had to be something to it.

Hi. I bought this same charger, exactly the same product. I have all 4 energizer batteries (2000mah) on charging for 12 hours now, and the LED charger indicator is still red. Is there any danger for the batteries to explode or anything? i stopped chatging them, i am afraid to keep charging. The manual suggests for 550 - 2000mah AA batteries, it should take approx. 9 hours, And for batteries between 2000-2300mah about 13 hours. So, should i wait 1 hour more? i put the batteries on my xbox one controller, and the charging indicator in the xbox one menu shows full battery capacity.. Should i keep charging them until it gets green? or is it ok to use them already..thanks

@@NelsonCartierGaming Hi Nelson. To my surprise few minutes after i posted the comment here, i was so glad to see the charger going... green after 13 hours approx. It seems the charger is designed to follow the 2000-2300mah charging pattern which requires 13 h for a 2000mah battery's full charge, not the 500-2000 mah charging pattern for 9h as indicated in the manual. A friend who was aware of the issue, electrician, told me that the slow initial charge shows the very good quality of the charger (!!) since there are some quick charge devices out there, that can fully charge a 2000nah battery set in a couple of .. hours, which shortens the batteries life expectancy dramatically!! all good.

I got this same unit, 2 packs of rechargeable batteries to be used for it, ran a couple of batteries down, put them in the recharger, it went from red to green, I took the newly "recharged" batteries out, tried to use them, and came to see that the batteries were still dead. Currently annoyed bc I spent about $40 on this unit and the batteries.

Ive only used Energizer batteries so i dont know about which is best... but their batteries and chargers are getting worse. I still have working energizer rechargables and recharger from 8 years ago that still work. I got a new charger, just like the one in the video. The batteries I bought a year ago are all 4 indicating bad. 2 of the 4 I bought 2 years ago are reporting bad. he 4 I bought 8 years ago,,,still golden!

Yes these actually work and turn green. At first I just left them in for 6 hours and I figured that it will always just be red and I timed it and put it in my x box controller then I thought they died so I recharged them for about another 2 hours and they finally turned green after I had played with my x box controller

If you pull them off when it turns green and put them back on it’ll fully charge them your only charging them up to 70%

It seems to me the charger charges at around 150 to 200ma per hour. I like slow charges since the batteries should stay cold. Well all my other chargers do. I have a maha one and a powerex and a few others that charge nimh and nicad batteries. They all charge cold. Only ones that make them heat up is ones that start at 500ma and over this heats them up driving the internal resistance up then it reduces the life cycles. Case in point. I have a set of old radio shack batteries that are still working. I bought them in 1988. When I bought fast chargers I seen Mabey 40 cycles and they would not work properly anymore. Then I started useing slow chargers or sometimes called overnight chargers. And problems are gone. Use slow chargers and don’t cook the batteries. 🙂. I’d rather wait then to loose batteries. And I have a lot of fast cheap chargers I have to send off to the electronics recycling centre now. I call the fast ones fire hazards. Even had a fast charger meltdown.

I left my batteries in on opposite sides of this thing and they didn't charge. Apparently they gotta be on one side or the other and ya gotta have two in for the thing to charge. You can't charge just one battery. That's kinda ridiculous if you ask me.

Edit: okay so nevermind I figured it out. The batteries have to be next to eachother. You can’t put one battery on one end and the other on the other end. So if you’re charging just two and not 4 at once just make sure the 2 are placed next to eachother and the light will appear

I've had Duracell , Energizer and Panasonic Eneloop pro. The Eneloop pro gave me the best results but they are expensive. I wouldn't buy Energizer again because their D cells are actually made from a much smaller battery with a spacer around it. They are a good reliable choice at a good value though

​@@e_thegod5303 never put alkaline batteries in a recharger! Google it to find out more but I think they can swell and explode. Only use rechargeable batteries in the recharger. I'm sure it says that on the package if you read the instructions.

Pretty much like the guy says in the video don’t overreact and just let it be there don’t keep on checking up on it after maybe like 1213 hrs. I’ll finally turn green just leave it there and then if it does turn green you don’t have to immediately take it off it has like a smart system in there where it stops charging it so you should be fine just the first time it does take forever

@@YouSusB Just be patient and just let it keep on charging overtime it’ll turn green trust me it’s very annoying but for me I can’t remember if it took me 14 to 16 hours but I just left it alone it’s kind of annoying because the light is green red I meant to say and then overtime I’ll just turn green it’s just the first time when it takes forever

Um.. Why are people so impatient? Do you play xbox all day or som? My xbox 1 controller lasts for 3-4 weeks, even during this quarantine period If it takes 12h to charge the battery from 0-100% that really shouldnt be a prob since ur 2 batteries will keep you occupied for few weeks lmao Unless you have no spare batteries and they come uncharged for some reason... lol

Thanks i let mines charge for 5 hours thought it will turn green it didn't so i have to wait . By the way is mainly going to be use for my wii and xbox one i dont know why they dont include rechargeable batteries like the ps4.

yea you right but look at it like this ...you have options for batterys or rechargeable pack..you can swap out at anytime....to me thats better then ps4 ,,,ps4 you stuck wit the same battery forever what if it go bad on ps4 its nothing you can do unless you are a tech and know how to open and replace

Ok so I havent got any new rechargable batteries in awhile but the batteries last a very long time but the batteries wont charge now they flash red to blank greg color usually what I do is fiddle around with the batteries in the chargong port but no they wont charge, what could I do?

Hmmm did you clean the terminals with anything ? Clean the terminals and then leave on charger for 24hrs ( use alcohol) if that don’t work come back and I will give more tips ..
