Don't blame Russia your government has said that Germany is going to stop using Russian gas.

Russia is to blame for many things. But regarding gas, it is a self-made German problem. Naivety and arrogance in the last decades left us dependent on criminals who now ent mad. There are also many voices complaining that we did not cut the gas import earlier. I think that the current government does the nest job possible to get us over this crisis.

@@abodabalo "Russia is to blame for many things. But regarding gas, it is a self-made German problem." why do you say it this way? Yes, Nord Stream 2 was a big dumb decision but apart from that, most was within the boundary... After ww2, Germany was partly controlled by the USSR, and there was build such a great infrastructure, that nothing else would even make sense to buy from as it was cheap and the only infrastructure for Germany that could even provide the desperately needed amount of resources for the fast-growing industrial economy that Germany was, nobody else could provide these, and as the relations were pretty good after a while so it made sense to expend it a small bit... for example Spain and UK are so far away that it would have never made sense to purchase any gas from Russia, and building new infrastructure would never make economic sense... Not only that They already had their own infrastructure in place! which is why they didn't need a new expansion, but for e.g. France already had a different infrastructure but they still buy a huge amount from Russia ( 25% dependency). You say "it is a self-made German problem." why is only german problem? we had a good reason for it, not only that All countries near Russia buy a high amount of gas! But while Germany has a very high demand for the industry, they already had an infrastructure in place, now look at Austria, although they didn't have direct connections, they developed the infrastructure, and they have a +80% gas dependency on Russian gas but its little spoken about. And even though Germany is the biggest gas importer, the dependency is not as high as others which is why " Naivety and arrogance in the last decades " just do not fit well... dependency on Russian gas 2020 (changed by now): North Macedonia:100% Bosnia and Herzegovina:100% Finland:95% Letland: 93% Bulgaria: 77% Germany 50% Polen: 40% France 25%

Largest economy, not the strongest one. The same could be said about countries that were ruined by german greed and horrible crisis management. There is something called responsibility and as long as you are benefiting from a side and pretending to be their ally while they protect you, you should also know that you cannot suddenly switch camps. Germany is reliant on the west and especially on the US. The united states made modern germany and put it on the right tracks. Do not pretend that Germany is a superpower or anything. The moment its allies stop buying its overpriced goods and go for the better and cheaper alternative, germany will be ruined. And I am sure that german politicians know that. Also, do not forget that the european single market is the best way to shield german companies from the aggressive chinese competition. And if germany wants to be impartial, it should just live with the devastating consequences that would make its fragile economy worthless.

But as for cheap gas, Russia is ONE and Only option! For any form of industrial production line in Europe, it is extremely expensive, the taxation is ridiculously high, worker's wages are 10 times higher than Asia, the only way for Germany industry to cut production cost and let their industry continue to stay in Europe, it is by cutting the cost of energy cost, that is the one and only way to reduce their production cost, without Russia's cheap energy, all the industry products will be so over price, and they will lose their market share, all that add together will cause the industry collapse follow by massive ley off worker! When the American warn about the dependence on Russian gas, because of out of American greed! Imagine after WWII, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria etc wer not in a situation to help and I bet wouldn't want to help but now we are all EU and we will help each others as we can. Still, wish the best luck for all Europe, Russia made a threat to use nuclear force, remember this, they want to start a world war 3, then we will survive, only the starters of world wars death stops the war, look back on WW1 and 2, both leaders of those wars died and boosted tech as a result, maybe same strategy used today 😲

Cancels Nord Stream 2 because Putins regime is praying on people who are against it. Turbine is ready for transport over a week now in Germany, Russia is not accepting it back. Sanctions Russia because its obviously the agressor. Gasprom does not respect the contracts that were signed regarding the delivery. Russia is just one big piece of land lead by corrupt officials and this will not be forgoten. Russia made a terrible mistake thinking it can put pressure on Germany, after ww2 there was nothing and look at its economy now. One winter is nothing. After that its all over because the LNG terminals will be flowing.

The economy depends on that gas for its industrial processes, many will lose their jobs and with the increase in the price of basic goods such as food and heating, it will be a harsh winter for Germans. The danger of a new covid outbreak is latent and due to the lack of fuel, Germany's supply chains could collapse very quickly, making it difficult to distribute vaccines and causing a wave of deaths throughout the country.

They have a lot of elderly people and many homeless living on the streets and these are the most vulnerable. Other than heating, energy is necessary for transportation, industry and most public services. So, I would bet that the next 12 months will be disastrous for germany and some of its neighbours.

I am also betting on the fact that German houses are famous for being very well Insulated and that people will do ok during winter. Specially if they prepare in advance. Don't believe me on the insulation? Just look at the fact that my country is way warmer during winter and people have more cold at home. 6:25 - "You dont need to heat empty houses". Sure, let the pipes freeze, break, and flood the house. Nothing is an absolute, as with everything, it depends. Either pay for a plumber to shut down the house which costs $, and then of course pay him to open the house back up when you are ready to, or you do need to heat enough to keep it from freezing. You cant just listen to these bureaucrats, you need to think for yourself.

Germany has coal and can produce biogas from organic waste. They can produce hydrogen and convert the metallurgic industry to burn hydrogen. They can save up gas and buy it from other countries. They can increase electricity production and use electric heating and appliances. They can build more nuclear plants. They can extract coal, gas and oil from the seabed with a permission of the International seabed authority. You have other options other than Russia

For some reason, biogas gets very little attention in germany. Here in denmark, we have replaced about 25% of our gas consumption with biogas. I see no reason why germany couldn't do the same. Biogas facilities are usually built in rural areas, and are often co-owned by local farmers. They can be built in less than a year.

1. Produce hydrogen from what? 95% of the hydrogen is obtained from natural gas. 2. Electrolysis? Electrolysis consumes a lot of energy. From where are you going to provide that energy if your nation is already in an energy crisis in the first place? I will ask again, hydrogen from what? 3. Increase electricity production? Exactly how...........? Electric heating and appliances will increase the electricity consumption thereby offsetting any "magical" increase in electricity production. 4. "They can build more nuclear plants".....Yeah only if it's possible to build a nuclear power plant in 2 months. Moreover, from where do you expect Germany to get nuclear fuel rods? 5. Extract oil from where? Extraction of oil or natural gas can take several years or decades. What do you think, oil exploration and building of an oil rig take a few months?

Fun fact. Finland has over 1 million heat-pumps installed with population of 5.5 million. Germany has a similar number (1+ million) of heat-pumps installed and population of 83 million. In Finland, gas is essentially never used in direct heating of homes (same in Sweden and Norway). 537k sales of heat pumps in France last year. 178k in Germany. Sweden with much smaller population had twice as many heat-pumps installed as Germany. Like what are you doing? Modern country like Germany should be at similar levels as Finland, Sweden and Norway. But they are not even at similar level as Italy and France. It will change. But it should have been done 10 years ago.

To lower thermostats by 3 degrees is an option . Appeasment is the second option which will keep gas flowing but will lead to future disaster , and to a possible repetition of the 1930s miscalculations.Going green is the ultimate solution . The question is how can Russia , which economy is smaller than that of Italy, survive without exporting natural resources which make 60% of its primitive economy??!! .

Saving energy consumption is a good thing, but can the German industries save energy? Beside energy, food cost crises will compound to the pains for citizens. So what did the leaders had done that cause this crises? Simply blaming others is not an excuse, leaders in charge are supposed to deliver basic expectations for its citizens.
