6 years ago now. Bloody cool tech for the time... but it was only the best that was "ready for prime time video demo" back then.

Is this robot still being developed? You seem to have all the most promising components such as eccentric cams, mechanical springs, and most importantly cable drive. 480W seems a bit high. You ought to be able to make it downhill at next to no energy expenditure.

Why do we need a humanoid robot to do things that humans can do better? We need robots that can do things that humans can't do better. A two-legged biped is unnecessary, and it will always be inferior to other means of accomplishing the same ends.
