Most people who make them use metal jar lids. You can make a hole in it with a nail or a drill and fasten the bared end of a wire. It can be just conneceted to a paper fastener pushed through the hole with a bit of hot glue to keep it in place and strengthen it. Even easier you can cover a cardboard disk with aluminium foil and tape the wire to it or fix it as above. To strenthen it and keep it stable the disk can be stuck to a wood base or some such thing.
