When you do homes like this, please discuss the utilities. If house is on-grid, show us the power connection and talk about how far they had to build supplies lines for water, sewer, power, cable, etc. Does this house have back up power supply or only runs on solar? Thanks!
@iHasCaek

they filmed it in a way to make it look isolated. this place is not that far from civilization and you actually have neighbors kinda nearby. getting utilities, water, and other essentials wouldnt be a problem.

I've toyed around with designing houses, and this is the first question that needs to be answered. What utilities are available at the site, if any? Off-grid may sound somehow romantic to some, but really it's quite a headache dealing with the infrastructure needed to live comfortably away from utilities.

Exactly what I was thinking The video mentioned it "aimed for minimal environmental impact", because of the solar energy power?. But my pressing question was how did they get water, look around, it looks completely arid (no water?). And how did they get enough water to fill that enormous pool. I listened carefully throughout. The only clue I could guess, the video said that there was a town 10 minutes away. Is that the source of all that water. The architexture esthetics is all you say, but energy houses consider utilities too.

Other people already mentioned the sliding doors and snakes etc, plus the nightview from outside in, just when it is much more important to be invisible from the outside than during daytime. The birds that may not see the house until it is too late, the security against unwanted visitors in such a lonely spot. Some others: no place for storage, no study or work area. But there is more: those wide bands of marble around the beds: you can not just go sit on the bed and turn in, you have to crawl in across the marble. A seat at the foot of the bed, yes. At the side of the bed, NO. Also, the dining area is almost at the other end of the house. I would expect the dining table closer to the kitchen than the seating area. All together, I can perfectly understand it is a b&b, you stay one night for the experience, and then leave to never come back.

This house is arguably more visible then a regular house painted tan. It’s reflective not see through. So if you are looking at it from a distance it’s noticeable because it causes an anomaly to the surrounding landscape. Plus when the sun hits it it’s going to light up like a Christmas tree. Where as a tan house just blends into the land and doesn’t cause any anomalies to draw attention to it

To be fair, it’s invisible at night. Just the house though; not what’s inside of it.

I agree with some of the other comments that this house works best as a short-term rental. If one were to live full-time in it, the furnishings would need a rethink and an invisible garage would be a must. I'm not sure the Joshua Tree area would have enough depth to hold interest for full-time residence. Cheers on another high-class tour, guys! I'm jealous of your lifestyle, which is a career in making me jealous of other people's lifestyles.

Props to Enes for making this house seem way more interesting & thoughtful than it actually is. It's designed to be a totally unique vacation experience, not a permanent family home. The not so cozy, all glass design immerses the vacationer into the desolate environment giving it the surreal "being on Mars" feel, which is probably it's biggest selling point. If there were gardens, trees, grass, real walls and little homey touches, it would ruin the experience. Money aside, and inhospitable looking or not, wouldn't you enjoy attending a party there, or staying a few nights?
@mabybee
@mabybee Жыл бұрын
@@furryhoof647 it depends on the difficulty of reaching it. Is it just outside Palm Springs where it feels isolated but can be accessed for a big party on a Friday or Saturday night? Yeah, it’s cool enough. Is it somewhere in the desert near the New Mexico/Arizona border where you have to drive 3hrs to get to it? Probably not, but I guess if a group of people wanted to go on a wild binger full of all sorts of expensive alcohol and club drugs with lots of EDM over a few days then I could see the draw in that.

I would imagine that the location was a lot of the reason why it took so long. Getting all the material, machinery, and workers out into the middle of the desert, without any proper roads or anything, wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world. Definitely an architectural marvel... Hands down the most appropriate use case is an Airbnb or rented to host an event or great for a movie set. While the risk is there, my understanding is buildings that reach to skyscraper level pose the highest risk to migratory birds that tend to fly at higher speed higher up, especially at night. The fact that this structure is built between hills, probably reduces the chance.

I like the house. It doesn't need clutter or details, because the surrounding landscape is the art. I would expect a garage, however. Did they just forget to include the coffee maker, microwave, and toaster as wall units? The TV could have a custom cabinet made to hide the wires and box. Maybe they'll do all of this in the next upgrade. It's a bit funny to see two ovens, because every expensive kitchen must now have two ovens, but the cheap appliances on the small glass shelf, because renters actually want a functional kitchen.
