SAICT/ DOTR should have an agreement with Ride Hailing Transport Companies to penalize their Riders/ Drivers with Membership cancellation when caught violating the Bus Lane rules. Not only are these people disrespecting Government and its effort to make public transportation attractive but also puts the lives of their passengers in danger!

P5000 is already huge. It's basically their salary for a week. MC Taxis doesn't earn that much enough to be suspended. Cab Taxis who don't use meters however should be.

Counterflow is being implemented in major roads especially during road repairs or heavy traffic. Key word there is discipline and being a responsible driver and that's what that proposal is all about. Hope you are not one of the kamote riders or violators in edsa busway

I'm not sure how they can do that safely, unless they intend to fully block the bus lane. Just imagine if someone is in the bus lane, either on purpose of by accident, and they face a bus that's going 50 KPH in the other direction... it's probably going to kill that driver or rider, and likely extend out into the other lanes. And of course because of how the law is, the bus driver is likely to be the one put behind bars. There will be conflicts with various parts of EDSA that are currently required to be without barriers, as well as the u-turns, flyovers and tunnels. And imagine the mayhem of emergency vehicles trying to go from the regular lanes to the busway, and vice versa. Plus you need to consider how the busway ties into other roads, like going to PITX, the P2P buses that are authorized via a MOA, the Ayala terminal etc. Maybe DOTr has a bigger plan in mind, some way to completely and safely segregate the busway - otherwise I just don't see how they can even consider the counterflow idea. Honestly, if it was me, I'd rather see them start with more simple improvements to the busway, like putting a footbridge at the Ortigas bus stop - something that commuters desperately need.

While authorities are doing their part to address these violations, enforcement alone cannot be a permanent solution. Taxi companies must take accountability by removing drivers who repeatedly break traffic laws and show blatant disregard for public order. Barriers do help, but they're not a replacement for self-discipline. I'm sure you've seen my other videos where they caught plenty of violators even inside the barrier sections of the busway. Most of the bus lane is still protected by barriers, but they had to be removed from the flyovers and tunnels for safety reasons. There are still overhead signs, road-level signs, lane markings etc. They tried plastic bollards, but people literally just drive over those type of bollards without any regard. They also tried metal bollards but they kept getting knocked down. Sometimes a little self-discipline is really needed, otherwise you could face penalties - or worse, a serious accident.

It seems like LTFRB doesn't really have control over MC taxis anymore. So many of the original rules have been completely thrown out the window. And as for the overall behavior on the road, I think it speaks for itself. I am a fan of legalizing and regulating MC taxis, but if things continue like this, It's going to be hard to say it's a safe option for commuters.
