Five in a row from a man who was crippled from injuries from the seasons before and after. Pigs of machines to ride. 54 wins and 98 podium finishes. one of the greatest ever in any era.
@LordandGodofYouTube4 жыл бұрын
The man has dedication and determination on a level very few have, most would've given up before their first championship, very few would've gone for the "quick option" surgery to try and win their first, and only the truly intrepid would have even the slightest chance of competing for 5.

Great video thx guys, so good to see Mick and his bikes. What a great era and humble champion Mick is, i was there at Phillip Island for the first Australian moto gp in 89 won by Wayne Gardner. I still have the shots i took of the race including Mick's fall/slide during practice in the "bowl" when he lost the end of his finger and still got back on his bike on race day finishing 8th from 16th on the grid, just a sign of things to come, what a legend!

Such a great episode. Mick is the biggest legend of 500cc he is the reason I was glued to TV as a kid even I was originally all about F1 and Senna . He completely fill up the void for me after Senna's death and convert me to motorcycle racing fan. Rossi picked up the torch in 2000 and on.

Another great episode thanks lads. Great to see the Doohans at home! Impressed with Russell getting behind a shifter kart & a track for perhaps the first time. You certainly held your own Russell, or was Jack just being kind? Although, you both seemed to be going pretty hard, even with lots of trees close by. Jack is certainly an impressive young man & I look forward to seeing him do very well. As for Mick, what a champ! Cheers

Luis Leeds from Australia raced as a Red Bull Junior in British F4 in 2016 and finished 3rd in championship. He went across as a 15 year old by himself with no family and was promised the world by RBR if he finished top 3 and was given a one minute phone call from Dr Helmut Marko at the end of season saying his results were not good enough and wouldn’t be kept in the program. All the best to Jack, hopefully Red Bull will do a better job at looking after Aussie Drivers in the future.

Great interview with Michael Doohan but I noticed there was no reference to Michael ridding Yamaha's in Australia, using the book Australian Motorcycle hero's 1949 to 1989 as a reference there is a picture of Michael taken at Philip Island in 1988 ridding a Yamaha. Great to see Jack Doohan to well in open wheeler racing.

@@bryanjbuchanan In 1988 Yamaha let Doohan test their 500cc MotoGP bike because they were looking to sign him to a deal, at first Doohan said it wasn’t too bad, but then crashed it, and crashed it again when he got back on. The he tested Honda’s 500cc bike and the rest is history.
