Hey boys, as always pinpoint accurate with the Supercar saga. I'm a huge fan of #TA2 and personally think it should be the new supercars. Correct me of I'm wrong but you probably should have mentioned that no professional driver's can compete in #TA2? It was great to see 3 generation's of the Elerey crew at QR last weekend. I couldn't help but congratulate Flash on friday ( gotta love a fresh racecar) Nice one #norwell. As always more than pin point accurate on the latest with our motorsport. Congratulations and all the best for the #supercheap wildcard entry at Bathurst.

In a world of me me me, it's still encouraging to see the people who can make a difference do it and not everyone is out to rip you off. TA2 is a brilliant example. And the idea of retired drivers having input to who actually has the talent and drive to help grow a sport is and should always have been a permanent thing. Despite who you support, the end goal should never be about who's bank account is peddling a car. I hope you guys continue with this show for a very long time. To those who aren't fans of the two guys who present it, atleast be happy that someone is telling it how we want to hear it. Keep up the good work guys, and I hope you know the difference you are making in a world of you can't say that incase you upset a sponsors chequebook. Let's hope motorsport in Australia can regain the power it once had.

You have summed it perfectly, it's now an Engineers race and not a Drivers race. Wayne Gardner summed up 500cc vs F1 by saying bikes were 80% rider - 20% machine, and F1 was 80% machine - 20% driver, at least back in the 80s and 90s. Back in the day the Touring cars would have been closer to 50% driver - 50% car, drivers could shift it to 50% driver in a 40% car, but seldom could mechanics and engineers shift the car side to 60% to make up for a 40% driver.

Love the TA 2 cars - i have been saying for quite some time this is sort of what Supercars should be with the Gen 3 - total parity so the race wins come from driver ability, team strategy and the engineer’s ability to set the car up to the track conditions - not how deep the pockets are of the team owners .

I shift myself every day, in my little ridgi didge 93,000km 1981 4 speed mazda 323, 1.5L. Crikey when i had my 68 Impala, i even converted that to a T5 from a 2 sp powerglide 🤙

Question regarding the Supercar purchase. The 2 sides that have purchased it have created a new entity called “RACE” who will own the series. Who’s goes to be running the RACE entity? Will there be a CEO or will it be the 2 entity CEO’s sitting together and making the big decisions / oversight of Supercars??

There shouldn’t be any more debate. Make TA2 the base for Gen3. Stick the 6 speed hollinger in it, may be a bit of a brake upgrade and a few more horses and away you go. Everyone has same car, same engine. No need for manufacture involvement (which will rapidly drop away anyway). Use a generic “supercar” body shell and chuck what ever stickers you want on it. Keep the current spec TA2 cars as a feeder category. Good quality, high horsepower, low aero/low grip, rear wheel drive racing is what brings the crowds.

The 180 SC did on having TCR as a support category by including it on the 2021 Bathurst 1000 program was the most obvious clue that ARG was somehow involved in the successful bid for SC. As for the potential line-up to run RACE... I'd be putting a broom through SC if were them. Replace Seamer with RD as CEO (assuming RD is up for it).

TA2 is model Category for Australian Motor Racing. Come on V* Supercars Get on board with a Formula that works and truly saves Money. It's not the Horse Power but the closeness of the racing that makes Racing EXCITING. It maybe time to re think the rethink. TA2 has it all in the bag a total full package car supply and full backup service. We need good free to air TV coverage and this could be an absolute winner. Punters and Teams.

Hi Paul, Russell. I’m almost 50 and have watched ATCC, Supercars Etc all my life. And up until the end of the Falcon and the VF Commodore I feel like Supercars was relevant to Aussie Rev-heads. Mustang doesn’t really seem to be that aspirational (to own) and how many Chevy Camaro are on our streets? I feel like Supercars is about to lose its relevance. What do you think?

Actually a lot of people on “the hill” do know! Heaps of us have been following and watching supercars ect.. for decades and probably have a lot more of a technical understanding and brand loyalty than you guys realise .

Looking at all the categories. Supercars won’t run often with Trans Am as they will be too similar. They will run often with TCR, especially in Tassie and WA where there is only 1 event per year. TCM will be regular as the fans love it, but your smaller events won’t run much alongside Supercars, but will be frequent with TCR specific rounds, as it would be crazy to run both always together. Trans Ams will run alongside TCR most of the time. I am genuinely interested to see how it will work.

Hi Paul and Russell. You often mention driver training and you obviously are genuinely concerned about road safety. I have tried to campaign about road safety here in NSW but I am a nobody and my concerns always seem to fall on deaf ears. Whilst I'm aware you're in Queensland it would be good to see some with with a name and some influence could begin a campaign to help change the way young people drive and create some increased awareness among existing drivers. About a year ago I was involved in an accident where another vehicle ran a red light, hit another car and then was pushed into me. I had nowhere to go. I was fine but the driver injured one young person in the accident who was booked in to get their L's. The driver of this car was totally neglectful, and lied about her involvement in the accident. Luckily I had a dashcam which proved that this driver was entirely at fault. Even with such evidence and a police report in my favour, I was treated like a criminal because of this person's neglect and dishonesty. Her insurer claimed the whole accident was my fault and whilst i got my insurance excess returned, I still to this day have not received an apology from her insurer who publicly slandered me in a group email. I have had a small amount of motorsport experience (only club level stuff) and I believed this helped this person. Even the police said if it had not been for my reflexes the driver of the other car (party at fault) would have been in a much worse state. I believe that our standard of driving in this country is generally sub standard and i see the road to a safer future on the roads is driver education. Do you remember back in the 80's there was a little 5 minute show on TV before the news called something like "On the road"? I think a simple reminder for drivers from someone credible such as yourselves may help to make a difference out there. Your thoughts on this issue please.

Its probably too far of a jump to happen but I would really enjoy a comeback of a category like what the pre supercars touring car championship was. I guess it would be pretty similar to the current improved production but with more money behind it. Get aftermarket parts suppliers and manufacturers backing teams and developing parts on the track to sell to the public. The whole market relevance thing gets thrown around a lot and I feel thats the best way to get it back and also grow our local design and manufacturing industries. Parity is going to be the hardest part with a multi car category but the new lemans hypercar class is proving it can be done by changing the regulations from set dimensions to set performance metrics. Instead of saying you can have this or that engine, or aero that fits in this size box you say you can have x amount of power, x amount of downforce, must weigh at least a certain amount (or even better fit within a narrow power to weight ratio) and have at least so much drag. Would be interested in your thoughts.

All o want is close racing some wheel bs banging. This Gen3 seems too over engineered too technical. I think Gen3 should be like TA2 cheap angry simple to setup simple to drive. And looks like my Mustang.

I saw an article the other day and I think it is safe to say that paddle shift is gone. In regards to Gen 3, my feeling is that it should be scrapped and start again on the project. $650 grand on a chassis is just way too much, it should be half that price. It appears to me that the engineers wrote a wish list and got their dream race car without any other considerations. One of the reasons that John Bowe left V8 Supercars was the fact they became too technical and it wasn’t enjoyable to drive. V8 Supercars needs to listen to these two blokes and with the Rogers brothers involved there is hope for this category yet.

Boys..if you think the average fan cant see the difference in speed between a Supercar and a TA2 through mcphillamy, or turn 1 at PI , i dont know what fan you are talking to ? watching a supercar trackside across the top through the S's and down into dandenong at Sandown is jaw dropping, other classes wobbling through ? not so impressive I dont get this idea that 'you cant be outspent' in TA2 ? of course you can...if your a novice racer you can pay a PM (for example) to help you engineer and set the car up to make it faster, you can always pay for more knowledge that the 'husband and wife around you. You can pay to go take it testing on a track or track days more than the next person to refine the car and engineering ? You can always be outspent when it comes to speed

I swear to god these 2 should bloody run supercars they no exactly what to do coz crowd attendance has gone down over the last 10years big time apart from Bathurst problem is these days most of the drivers who have done anything have retired or about to retire more than half the supercars grid these days are people who have just started or people I don't even no I really do think supercars pulled the write card of getting ingall and Murphy back for Bathurst I really do but I'm not sure Murphy is going to race this year now coz of the covid bullshit and that would be a shame coz Greg always shines at Bathurst but I have herd if he doesn't this year he will next year

those TA2 seem a great idea, but damn, they have that ugly nascar look along with the week Autobahn looking rear wing lol Yeah it works, but it looks cheap. But the racing seems great, wise and how SC should be run, but give them a decent number of gears to row through, a better looking wheel and tyre package (like the current SC) and a body that has the same proportions as the road cars, not those cartoon bodies and tractor looking tyres (remember, we want the cars to look like hotted up road versions).

Also wanted to add that if the new owners have a brain they will approach Paul to be on the board - Supercars needs his experience and enthusiasm - Actually so does Australia-P.M for PM! At least we would get some funding for motorsports-especially here in the anti everything capitol of the world - NSW! And for Christs sake ban sequential and paddle shift and all the computer controlled crap that goes wth it forever ! Supercars are getting too close to F1-a long way from their roots- i want to see drivers using the clutch, blip the throttle etc and not letting some computer do it for them. .
