An ENFP that develops their 3rd and tertiary function (extraverted thinking), is a force to be reckoned with! By developing that function--often through reading, discussion, and competitive games--they can begin to develop their reason. Along with this comes the ability to be more decisive, a greater care in their choices, and the ability to temporarily mute their feelings for greater clarity. Their lives start to mimic the focus and follow-through of an INTJ or an ENTJ. This ENFP has finished writing a 200+ page book, as well as several successfully funded Kickstarter campaigns. The laser-focus and determination of Te is an irreplaceable tool of the happy, motivated--and calmer!--ENFP.
@StevenPJames-fl1un5 ай бұрын
100%! For me, it wasn't so much about learning to use Te as learning to use it in a healthy way that doesn't shut down the other functions (ie, not getting looped) or overestimate what it can accomplish. But you're right, when we learn to balance Te and Fi, we can become as or more productive than any ENTJ!
@abesapien99305 ай бұрын
@@StevenPJames-fl1un Well, I wouldn't quite say as productive as an ENTJ, but maybe someone out there will prove me wrong. The only ENFP I've seen in a major executive role is Walt Disney. It's actually funny to watch some of his interviews. Despite his corporate dress and demeanor, you can see all the zany ideas and childlike zeal bouncing around in his head. Some of his early interviews from the 20's and 30's are actually kind of cringy. I'm like, "This guy must have been a disaster. A 100 ideas he's excited about, but no real organization." His brother (a J), really helped!
@letfreedomring73305 ай бұрын
My husband is an ENFP who uses his Te quite well, when he's not under too much stress. I'd say he's more ESTJ-like though. He values Si a great deal more than an ENTJ (like my dad, whose Si blindness is real and baffling to an ISTJ like me). He makes thorough lists and takes great pains to be organized because he is well of aware of his tendency to forget details.
@martinisawe63005 ай бұрын
I'm an ENFP 3w2 that has developed his TE and SI pretty well. Even though I'm open talking about emotions(FI), I'm more determined to focus on achieving my goals and to make a routine of it. My NE makes doing a task dreadful but understanding how to deal with my NE, it makes achieving a task more doable.
@letfreedomring73305 ай бұрын
@@martinisawe6300If you're like my husband, I'd guess you feel a constant need to plan the next task(s) rather than follow through on the current one, so focus is a big challenge. He's getting better and better at overcoming that.

As an ISFJ male, the “no one will ever realize the internal suffering you go through” line, always cracks me up especially with that facial expression. Kristin nailed that and I don’t know how she came up with something so true. My interactions with ENFP’s are always vibrant and carefree. But they strangly include making weird almost psychic connections in terms of evaluating people and things. Hence the accuracy of the vid. We relate in unseen and unpredictable ways and sometimes can read into each other’s souls. At the same time, we could have completely different interests and lives.

Trying not to generalize here, but it sucks when you love people but everyone around you doesn’t understand you, or they suck, sometimes it would be better to not “need” social interactions to be content.

ENFPs have trouble in social situations, it's just a different kind of trouble.
@m_n_a_b5 ай бұрын
Oh, we certainly have trouble in social situations. People cannot track with my thinking (because the connections are so widespread, big picture and seemingly unrelated to them), and my brain makes those connections so fast that I talk fast and they struggle to keep up or follow the path of the connections. Also, in my specific case... due to a past trauma... I struggle with small talk and am very awkward when I first meet people. I hate small talk and would rather have the deeper conversations... but most people don't like going there. ENFPs also struggle by being a weird mix of extroverted and therefore needing socialization, but also needing a lot of introspection. So, we end up getting overwhelmed by too much socializing. Then, we crack if we don't manage to crawl into our cave and hide for a while. Nothing social breaks my spirit and brings pain to my soul quite like having an event already on the calendar and then arriving at the day to realize it is a day where my entire being is screaming to be away from the people and stay home to do absolutely nothing. If I don't make plans, life is too busy and it won't happen. If I make them too far in advance, I won't know how I'll feel that day, and I'll end up just enduring rather than engaging. It is tough to walk that odd line of being an "ambivert". We are the most introverted of the extroverts, which I have found to mean that the other extroverts talk over me and I'm left unheard and frustrated. Yet, I'm also too much for my introverted friends sometimes. So, I don't feel like I truly fit in with either introverts or extroverts. However, I simultaneously understand both sides and can even help translate what it feels like to need the alone time or to need the socializing. For example, my Mom is ISTJ, my brother and father are ESFP... my brother could not understand why my mom just "wanted them to be quiet every time she got a headache" and why she "couldn't handle them even talking." I explained to him that when she hits her social limit, it is physically painful for her to continue even having social interactions, let alone loud, boisterous headache increasing interactions. Anyway... my INTJ husband certainly has his social struggles, too. And after 14 years together, he has had a front row seat to my own set of social struggles. He finally understands why I simultaneously have a lot of people who genuinely like me, yet I feel so incredibly alone because my heart only truly connects with those who will willingly go deep and are authentically themselves. I can count on less than one hand's worth of fingers the people in my life who I can truly share anything with and who also share everything with me. And with each of them, I am often too much, because they are introverts. So, I feel so very lonely. He sees it and he understands. We are both encouraging each other to connect more with friends, because we have both been super lonely, even though we are always connecting with one another.

Oh my goodness! 😂 Why, though??? Just why? Drinking tears... as a condiment??? 🤮 Is a condiment obsession an INTJ thing? My INTJ husband puts obscene amounts of barbecue sauce on everything. Lol. My parents ask him if he would like food to go with his condiments. 😂 Also... your comment reminds me of something that just happened in my household tonight: I sit here with my INTJ husband and my budding ENFP niece. She discovered neither of us like feet. Being 11, and loving to instigate her favorite uncle, she decided to put her foot in his face while she giggled like a mad woman. He retaliated by licking his hand and reaching for her face. As she shrieked in horror, their rivalry took itself downstairs and she grabbed a spray bottle of water to start spraying him. A few minutes later, she runs back upstairs and asks me, "How do you get him to stop with the spit hand? It's so gross." I laughed and said, "You raise the white flag and surrender." She deadpan stares at me and says, "Never." Their skirmish lasted several more minutes and ended with her telling him she will never surrender. Yet, she sat down to play a game instead of continuing further instigation. Then, she asked me what I would do if he ever did that to me. My response, "He wouldn't dare. He knows that is so thoroughly disgusting to me that it wouldn't end well. Plus, I wouldn't start out by instigating with something he finds disgusting... so he wouldn't feel the need to retaliate." Plus, he adores me and goes out of his way to respect the things that truly gross me out. He's good like that. He adores her, too. But... she started it and he knows she loves the game of picking at each other. I do my fair share of instigating him, too... and he loves that, as well. But, I don't use gross things to do so. I am ENFP, as well. I say all this because... your comment simultaneously cracks me up, grosses me out, makes me think of my INTJ's excessive use of condiments, AND his gross tactics of winning a sparring match with an 11 year old ENFP by licking his hand and later on spitting in it before chasing her through the house. He definitely won. She was more grossed out by that than he could ever be by feet... and he hates feet as much as I do. 😂

I’m an INTJ-C (creative subtype, according to Dario Nardi’s research), and I NEED novelty daily. I establish that by feeding my Ni-it gets dark QUICKLY when I don’t get to learn something new every day…for me, it’s not worth living. I’ve done the 9-to-5, and if I were to leave when I felt I’ve extracted all the value possible, it could be one day, one week, one month, or one year….TOPS. Basically, after the completion of one full cycle, where I’d learn what I needed, I was done-I'd become a zombie after that…I couldn’t fool my soul into believing that I wanted to be there, but I always gave 110%, on principle, though inevitably, my health would suffer. I thrive in a project-based life. I need a defined beginning & end, with something tangible to show for my time & energy-there’s no getting away from the demands of the Te. I love that I can be both structured & loose-I’ll start by making lists, providing as much detail as I might need, then just totally wing it later, depending on how I’m feeling the the VIBE or FLOW-the lists are there as contingency plans, since I’m better with having *some* preparation. For types who can think on their feet, that may not be necessary. I love serendipity & spontaneity, and it makes life feel so open, free, and expansive. As long as I feel that I have something to show for my efforts, and was able to learn & grow from an experience, I’ll feel that it was worth my time. I can easily be spontaneous, but must ALWAYS consider the ROI-there has to be at least one takeaway.

A triple word score!".....that was amazing, Kristin...but back to it....why she gives your ESFP competition: "You know what? Yes, I DO want a gender reveal party. AND I won't be going to the doctor." Not even remembering your next character reacted to her saying "preach it, Lizzy." Is she gonna be the ranker? When you asked for questions, I really wanted to know what your favorite performance was. I really want to know what you were thinking with that one because it was so funny! Totally worth it imo! Thank you so much for making these every week! Hope you and your family are doing well! You're my all time favorite actress and....if you call yourself one, comedian! Also, your ESFP character is still my favorite, especially you bringing back part of her "Through the Eyes" song here! It rocked, and you rock! I would have gone to the doctors and to school more if...I gotta go!

This is hilarious because one of my best friends is an ESTJ and I have NO CLUE why she likes me, as she hates everyone else and I go against everything she stands for with my messiness! 😂
@m_n_a_b5 ай бұрын
My ESTJ friend adores me, too. She also is afraid she will be too harsh for me, since she finds herself annoyed with nearly everyone else and knows she gets too intense. However, I think it works because all of our cognitive functions are the same, just in opposite order. She told me she is drawn to me because she knows she needs to be able to relax and not be so uptight. She sees that I do that naturally. It's like breathing for me. And she simultaneously admires and envies (in a healthy way) it. She takes notes from me and is learning to let go. Likewise, I see her master level organizational skills and learn as much from her as I possibly can. And when we have conversations where we discuss "why" we think something... we simply "get" each other because our shared functions mean we process similarly, even if in a different order of priority.

I'm an ESTJ and I'm guessing hate is a strong word for the ESTJ you know; hating people is a waste of time, unhealthy ESTJs moreso get easily annoyed at people or just ignore them. Personally I think ENFPs are hard to be upset at even if they're disorganized and sometimes say irrational things, and they're often sociable and easy to talk to because we have the same functions, and they often have a good sense of humor.

@m_n_a_b this actually makes a lot of sense, I haven't thought of it from that perspective! I love being able to get along with different kinds of people. 🥰

@sarahberkner thank you for these insights, that makes a lot of sense! I am grateful you think we're difficult to be mad at haha I think a lot of people in my life feel that way and I'm so grateful because I think people would be mad at me a lot if they didn't feel that way. 😅 I try really, really hard, though! I think that's why my ESTJ friend is also merciful, she sees my efforts. She also tries to help a lot because my parents died during the pandemic, my friend was my stalker, my family moved out of state, I broke up with my long term boyfriend, and generally everything fell apart. I think she sees my effort despite that and extends mercy and help because of it. She is a very kind, loving, and generous person. 🥰

I love how ENFJ only hang out with her for case study so the ENFJ can watch from afar and see if their assumptions about her are correct. I have an ENFJ mother, she rarely cuts people off even if she doesn't like them, but she just uses people for Se data so then she can use her Ni on. I am an ENTP, and most of my conversations with ENFJs (including my mother) are just discussions about other people, we have so many inside jokes that other people don't get, ENFJs are great banter buddies for ENTPs.

I'm an ENFP and the colleague I've been having friction with lately is clearly an ISTP because everything they say to me always every time is "that makes no sense at all".... Even though it literally makes ALL the sense. Dear Kristen is scientifically proven to be true... Also my ENTP bailed in a strangely similar manner 🤔
@sarahberkner5 ай бұрын
That seems like a poor way to type someone based on one phrase that they say, unless you're joking or you have other reasons to think they're an ISTP. It's funny because someone made a list of phrases for each of the 16 personality types based on what they picked, no joke, my type the ESTJs picked "That doesn't make any sense" and I do say that a lot.
@laurawallace43455 ай бұрын
@@sarahberkner oh yeah I was totally joking 😃 it would indeed be a poor way to type people! I'm still not sure of their type but things don't make sense to them unless it's something they personally understand and sometimes have had direct, hands on experience with which might suggest Ti and Se. Who knows. I sometimes wonder if "that makes no sense" is actually code for something! I've seen some of the things each type says and the only one I remember was ENFP: heart rate of 5000, yep

what. You're re-doing this? Somebody gave me the literal and metaphorical heads up. okey dokey. gotta go...Igor is already removing the ESFP eyes. He's trying to make the Best Type of Frankenstein's Monster, and I already told him, he's already metaphorically playing with fire, and I'm literally going to whatever choice he makes since....I saw the movie...Ne-ways...I'm off to Se what ENFP graves he's going to! I'll try to hold him off! He keeps giving me an Ni that's not so friendly! Based on your beautiful thumbnail, he ain't no ENFP angel...along with the you know....I gotta go.

I always would be interested you to test to shan and dave in the ops system. I live in germany, brandenburger area and a lot of older esfps, especially 9w8s are se-te masculine mixes, act like fi inferior and are stoic and so often fat, its like you get the Homer and winx club ogel version. In contrast, se-fi feminine is often more creative and emotional, sensitive or sporty and social.. its crazy for me. Its like the total opposite person stands there. I always question if you are no enfp for all your ideas and your feminine face, but im just a viewer

the ENFP I know are always so serious, can someone explain?
@marinyan54725 ай бұрын
Not all Enfps are the same. The stereotypical persona of enfp "AKA happy-go-lucky" is just one version of Enfps. I'm an enfp myself, ppl say I'm fun but equally serious and mature. It's more about whether you feel their functions, just because they're being serious doesn't mean they're not using Ne or Fi, could even be in a loop yk
@smilesmile12375 ай бұрын
@@marinyan5472 hi, im still not sure how an ENFP functions. What are his main motives and what are his strengths compared to other types (INTJ for example)? from my understanding after work ENFP would always be outside trying new things/traveling?
@crystaluwu101217 күн бұрын
lets just say ENFPs core are there ideas they love expressing it, but if its not something related to there ideas they are most likely going to be silent especially if in a crowd with more extroverts (they are the most introverted extroverts) meaning if there are more extroverted people out there they are going to be the once to be quiet. So if you want to talk to one you have to find out there topic of interest and they'll be more active but ofcourse these is also subject to the context. If in a crowd filled with Introverts they are going to be the once to talk alot but if in a crowd with extroverts they are the most quiet.
