INTP here I actually have a lot of empathy for people, I’m just horrible at expressing it. I have the same problem with expressing gratitude. Whenever I genuinely thank someone for a gift I end up sounding sarcastic. Ironically, half the reason I can't come up with good responses is because I refuse to use clichéd or disingenuous sounding responses. However, one thing you almost be sure of when talking to me about your emotions is that I'll think about the things you say, abstract them to the point where they can be related to one of my experiences so I can understand them better, analyze from that standpoint, and then pat you on the back and say "yea, that sucks."

It has the purpose of quickening your thoughts and making your brain hone in on the threat and any avenues of escape. So the next time you experience any stressful event, remember that your current reaction saved the lives of your ancestors. So be tHANKFUL BECAUSE YOU EXIST BECAUSE OF IT. LMAO JK JK. No, instead you should follow your instinct and SUCKER PUNCH WHATEVER'S MAKING YOU STRESSED. Haha jk jk again. Ok for real this time, whenever you're in those situations, it is important to remind yourself that there is no threat. Especially in the grand scheme of your life, these small, pointlessly stressful moments are nothing but a hindrance to your personal growth. So take slow deep breaths and focus on simple computations, a song, or whatever else relaxes you. As a past tutor, and someone who gives courses, it is a good thing I possess the virtue of patience, as if I did not, I doubt I would be able to tutor or teach effectively. I imagine most teaching requires a good deal of patience. I derive much fulfilment from teaching though, and it is always rewarding to see students comprehend new ideas and gain more confidence in themselves. The INFJ skit actually made me feel a little bit bad for the therapist, but her willingness to put others first came across as quite endearing.

2:10 LMAO, I have an ISTJ dad and I have dealt with that several times. For example (and this has happened) when I am trying to just tell a funny anecdote. I am like me: "This one time I was in a friend's house" him: "Who's house?" me: "A friend" him: "Yeah, but what friend?" Me: "x" him: "Oh, ok" Me: "anyway we were going to.." him: "When was that?" me: "hmm, I can't remember" him: "how can't you remember?" Me: "Anyway, that is irrelevant, so I was there with some other friends" Him: "who were those friends?" Me: "*sigh*... Just let me tell the anecdote" him: "ok" So a few more interruptions later, I rush through the anecdote and because I rushed through it I botch the ending. Me: "So that is what happened" Him: "Oh ok" Me(inside): "Dammit this anecdote was actually quite funny." Thankfully he has been doing that less and less the older he gets.

As an ENFP, my Si is what OPS would call masculine, and I swear, the only thing it’s good for is my insane memory... and for tripping me up in the middle of stories. I’m the one telling the story, and I’M your ISTJ dad. I’ll start telling it, and I’ll interrupt myself. “So yeah, when I was with my friend- this all happened around two years ago, by the way- and yeah, we were talking- well, actually, it was around a year and eight months ago, because I remember it was in May, and I remember that because it was a little while before school went out- anyway, yeah, we were talking- also we were in a cafe, we were in a cafe because we were supposed to be getting lunch at Chipotle, but the Chipotle didn’t work out- oh yeah! It’s because the Chipotle was closed that day and they weren’t taking in-person orders, so we just said, ‘yeah, no’ and decided to go to a cafe because we were hungry by that point. It was really funny because that was the same day that we ran into our other old friend right after we went to the cafe- remember that story? Yeah, that was the same day, because after we left the cafe we went to the park, but I’ll get to that after I talk about what happened at the- yeah. Actually, I remember that the both of us had a completely separate discussion about human nature in the car on the way there, and that was really important because it segued into the conversation at the cafe... maybe I should start there- okay, okay, so, we were both in the car and-“ How people ever understand anything I say is absolutely BEYOND ME. 😭 This happens every single time I try to tell a story.

Okay, I took multiple therapy sessions and I could see glimpse of their mbti: (if what I assumed them to be true then..) - I met a mature ENTJ, she was comfortable to be around yet direct and cut to the chase type. She provided the best assignments (movies/books/sources) that I could learn from without being bored. I was at ease being blunt with my questions regarding the family systems and relationships (even though I admit they were controversial to the social standards) but she loved to answer them with complete logic behind! She loved how conscious I’m with myself about being able to admit that I’m greedy, selfish and so on (Didn’t say it directly). Personally, I think she loved how I’m able to counter her assignments with other questions I thought off after doing them. She always loved to ask “what do you think about that?” It give her space to improve the way she articulate her thoughts to convince/teach me with my questions I guess. -the ENFJ was the best overall for me, she had such a motherly vibes, she gave me a free session once cause I was running low in money. I wish her all the best from time to time as she crosses my minds. Such a beautiful soul indeed. Def suitable for the job. -the INTJ was good providing information that explains my situation with a lot of new terminologies and areas to research about later (the best part) but her method seemed a bit … cold in the long run. We had a deep talk once about my theories regarding life and what is it for .. blah blah. Her logic made sense, but at that time, I needed some emotional support even if life did have a reason. so I didn’t continue with her. She was very passionate the way she does her job to the fullest though. -finally the INFJ, after the ENFJ.. he was so comfortable even though he was a man.. (I had problems with toxic male figures in my life) he was so real and made me feel heard the most. the most one who gave honest genuine validation. The enfj before was more friendly in a bright way of approaching things trying to ask more questions about my situation. But the infj was like: “ it’s okay, no need to search for words, I understand this situation was hard.” Or “is it okay to talk about this with you more?” Kind of way. So yupp. -Intp

I'm an ENFP but I think a pretty good friend group therapist. I have to be pretty intentional with everything, but I do catch myself sometimes using a story about myself and accidentally shifting the conversation. However, it can sometimes work out in my favor if the story shows a vulnerability of mine. Showing vulnerability in myself will make it a lot more comfortable for the other person to do the same. It just takes practice. I would really like to try being a therapist, I think I'd really find that fulfilling.

Now here’s the craziest thing. When I had a serious mental health crisis, it was my ENTJ dad I leaned on the most. That blunt logic probably kept me from shutting all the way down because I knew I could trust him to think straight when I couldn’t. And since you’re Christian, I know you won’t think I’m crazy when I feel like God pushed me to do that, to do anything he said, and tell him the truth even when it was bad or embarrassing. That ultimately resulted in getting the help I needed. People assume ENTJs don’t care but they WILL move Heaven and Earth if a loved one is in trouble. ❤️

I’ve been lost for clairvoyance after high school. There’s just so many things I *COULD* do, but also so many ways I could possibly screw it up. Why do I have to give to society anyway? These days I would do anything to show I’m independent. I’d crash into a guardrail if it meant I could exercise the ability to drive. I still haven’t gotten that ability at 22 years of age. Comforting someone is admittedly a little harder but my friends know it makes me uncomfortable and come in expecting an analysis and a logical answer. And contrary to popular belief I can even manage to actually comfort a person in extreme situations where I’m the only person available. I stop at a comforting hug. This is why my friends always run to me whenever they need help. It probably helps that, having an ESFJ mum, I've mastered the part where I have to silently listen, squeeze their hands, and nod along so their feelings feel validated enough that they can go on to focus on the logical solution.

All you're doing is confirming what I already know about INTP - ESFJ pairing. This is what happens between us. I listen and listen and listen and listen and then she just loves me for it. And she as an ESFJ has such sound advice about relationships. I know many immature people on line hate the ESFJ but her social instincts have fixed relationships, made money, opened opportunities and much more. Even things that seem to be out of their scope. Buying a car for instance. I know about cars and she doesn't, she wants comfy seats good brakes and AC while I'm looking at turn diameter, fuel injection and so on. We get close to deciding and I tell her my opinion. Then I leave her with the salesmen while I awkwardly look at other cars. The salesmen comes back to me grinning and announcing that he'll get the papers ready ready to sign and he'd be happy to tint the windows, replace the tires, and lower the price by $5000. She bought an antique Art Nouveau Dining Table set for $4250 and I had it appraised, it's worth at least $8000. They are savants socially. If she has advice socially I just don't question it. It always works no matter what. They are unrecognized prodigies.
