it needs to earn it.. which it never did. considering it has a much newer platform and engine design to the Honda and is still slower.. its speaks for itself.

@@mattvang3439 the 7th gen it's a joke I prefer the ST185 and ST205 GT-FOUR and SIII versions and even the second gen it's better because it's an FR I mean If I want an FF Honda it's the king in that category specially with their double wishbone suspension and handling for it's category the Celica could've more likeable If Toyota kept it as an FR I don't know how the people can call the 7th gen celica a sports car even the GTS version still has Drum brakes the 2ZZ-GE it's a great engine but they put in a crappy chassis but the 2ZZGE shines on MR2's and the Lotus Elise .

@@vampireotaku4172well in my country Mexico the GTS came with rear drum brakes those 7th gen celicas are horrible If I want an FF sport car from Toyota I'd take the Matrix XRS or the Celica ST205 SIII

I can find a Celica GTS for under five grand but the Type R is getting legendary money if you can find one. So a fair real world comparison would be to most any non R Integra which is in the same ballpark. That's why I was looking at this. There's a gtr and nice Integra for $4500 each. Decisions, decisions.

As someone that owns a Celica GTS SS in NZ (LSD in gearbox) it cost me 5k NZD while a type r B18 would probably could me near 20k for an extra what 10hp? Iv done pod filter and muffler delete next is stage 2 cams and I should be making near 200HP WHP after mods and a tune. for half the price of a type r B18. dont get me started on k20s. Let me put this out there, b18s and k20s are by far the better engine but for the price they really start to lose their value for money to the point of not even worth buying when you can start looking at AWD turbo cars for the same price. 2zz celica or 2zz corllas are a great base for modding on the sub 10k mark.

To me, Celica 2zz was Toyotas attempt to compete with Honda in the FF high-revving dual cam cars. Honda still came on top and I’m not surprised, but Toyota didn’t do a terrible job either.

I don’t really understand this race. Why do we have a Celica tuned for rally going up against an integra tuned for street/track. It doesn’t seem fair or make much sense

How could it be unfair? Both are 1800 cc front wheel drive sportscars, those two have similar potential, it's a matter of tuning. Anyway, rally is basically is a street race on staged roads, so both cars were tuned with more or less similar idea.

Celica was my favorite car since 3rd grade. Until I drove one where u can't fully utilize the "Lift" being too short. It's neck to neck with a stock corolla 3ZZ for crying out loud!!! Friend's SOHC stock vtec 97 Civic walked pass the 2ZZ alive. Still one of my fave good looking car tough. 😅 Just Slow af!

Celica gts only have 180cv , in europe the celica tsport have 192cv and trd celica t23 have 200cv

It’s more on the suspension than engine. B18s have no torque.

GT-S celica more suited to compete against an Integra GS-R or Civic Si. A TYPE-R eats it for breakfast

@@user-ry5uj9oz8q WTF are you talking about? Honda's chassis is superior, as is its suspension, brakes, and powertrain. The DC2 Integra Type-R is a far better handling car than the Toyota Celica.

​@@Holmesson and 1zz vvti celica is rewarded as best fwd handling car ever by british auto reviewers and from most of ppl. Chassis of celica t23 gt is superior all day compared to any integra any trim, you can come to Bosnia and lets do some track runs so i can shit on you honda...

@@Holmesson Look ebisu track times... Celica gt did great job knocking off dc5 type s by making faster time on track. Celica gt is superior handling car and superior chassis against any integra. I speak real automoto things and facts, not automoto mythology like you.

How is it the worst. If anything it's the second best celica ever made, only second to the ST205. It was built to compete with the DC2 Type R, and that's exactly what it did, and it did it pretty decently. The Sports M variant is a perfect competitor to the Type R

@@prussianaudios1432 6G GT4(ST205) > 5G GT4(ST185) > 7G GT-S(2zz ver) imo. The other base Celica models are way too heavy and don't have modern steering dynamics like the 7g celica

You know that Celica 1zz t23 is faster on ebisu than s2000, integra type r dc2 and dc5 type r and civic ek9 type r, prelude type s and integra dc5 type s... just search Celica S (which is GT or SS-I, 1zz model) track times and select Ebisu track for example
