Europeans never could understand that torque is the enemy of a front-wheel-drive car, They've always been obsessed with low end unusable power, because the cars are designed around economy, practicality, safety not performance, so there performance cars are kind of a contradiction in function. That's what led Europe down its own demise with diesels...

I liked what Keiichi Tsuchiya said when overtaking the R32, why be surprised? The B18C is a legendary engine with an amazing horsepower per liter that the golf can't match, and the golf is 470kg heavier and only 50 horsepower more. And most importantly, who drives DC2? )))) Legend of legends!!! The best pilot!! It seems to me that if Keiichi Tsuchiya rode a bicycle, he would go around everyone sideways in a turn and win the race)))

You could tell the dc2 was designed to be a straight out the box track car and the dc5 was designed to be a tuners car. I love the look of the dc2 more but if you were to give the dc5 lower and stiffer suspension, it already has the hp and tq, it'd be so much better

They would end up 1 1/2 tons with turbocharged lazy engine, That favour torque over peak power (which is the enemy of a front-wheel-drive) They would be forced to give up on most of the formula that made that car unique and great and would have to use cheap tricks to make the car perform better.. Just like that EG6 Seeker shows us, if you updated any of those cars like ef, eg, ek, crx, dc to modern standards there wouldn't be a modern hot hatch that could stand to it in a track setting...

well the dc2 was cranked up a very little. probably like 10-20 hp. not much. the dc5 and r32 were both stock. I've heard that this body style was a lot heavier than the other r32. it was keeping up and cornering well. so it stood a chance the entire time. it's just at the end of the day it became driver vs driver and it just didn't pull off the w.

DC2's driver is wrong he has not the lowest displacement because the colt R is a 1.5L what do you expect of a 150hp car against those car ? Give it a remap to make 190hp at least to compete

@@illewmenadeh722 I don't think so, in its standard form perhaps but the colt 1.5 is given at 197ps in switzerland with no specific power upgrade, mapping only, 200bhp for a 1.5 turbo (which is what everyone gets after a remap) is quite decent, it's main defect is it's suspension, which call for a set of coilovers !

@@illewmenadeh722 The Colt is capable of producing 200hp with a simple remap. It was only detuned to compete with prices. Mitsubishi left it up to the owner’s discretion if they wanted to restore the engine to its original power. Any Colt type R or Ralliart should not be underestimated.

Yes GTI DSG would be the way to go. Remapped engine to 250HP (a turbo replacement and 300+ hp) Semi slick tires and a Locking diferential, and aftermarket suspension It would easily compete with the integras
