Thank you - so glad you liked it, too! The older people in the audience Dimash sang to, were his grandparents (the gentleman and the lady to his left.). I don’t know if you’ve already heard this, but apparently in Kazakhstan there’s a custom called ‘Returning the Son’, where the eldest son is brought up by his paternal grandparents. Dimash’s grandmother gave up her teaching job to look after him, while his mother continued her university studies after his birth, and they all live together. He even calls his grandparents ‘Mama’ and ‘Papa’, and is extremely close to them - especially his grandmother, who was the person who took him to music school every day. They are a very musical family - there’s still the video of the performance of Dimash singing with his sister for you to see (and Dimash’s young brother Mansur played the dombra with him in the recent Arnau concert) so there’s plenty more to react to!

This is amazing performance. Dimash's mother, Svetlana Aitbayeva, is a soprano at the Aktobe Philharmonic Society. Both Dimash's parents received the title of Honorary Music Artist by the government of Kazakhstan. Respect for family. Thanks this is great video. I love you Kristin.
