So you can imagine how happy we were to have the opportunity to sit down with Freen & Becky to discuss the series, as well as its impact.
We're talking style symbolism, advice for familial pressures, singing OSTs for the series and more. We even got Freen & Becky to share some of their FIRSTS with us in a fun game.

I can totally relate to what Becky said about Mon's feelings for Sam. It's kind of common queer experience in Asia, I don't know what's it like in the West. Growing up, I idolized my crushes on girls and thought, "I want to be like them" while subconsciously trying to get close to them by doing everything what they like (of course, not obsessive as Mon lol). Maybe, it's a female thing. For males, it was often clear to them whether if it's bromance or not. After some years, I realized that I didn't "want to be like my female crushes" but I actually "wanted them." That is my coming out to myself story recently 😂 Edited: this is my fav interview. Now, I can enjoy watching other interviews while waiting for episodes of Gap the series and new BLs.

Thank you for organizing this interview guys. It gets difficult for international fans to understand their interviews and usually subtitles are not present so we are very grateful for this interview. Also i know no one wants to make them feel uncomfortable but sometimes when interviewers start tip toeing around their personal life or start shipping Freen and Beck instead of Mon and Sam it gets messy so, thank you so much for being respectful. Such a great and respectful interview. I loved how the interperter was nervous and excited somehow. (I have worked like that and I have to say It's hard). Also Becky's English ❤️ I would love to see her in an european or American movie/series some day. Seeing her talking in her mother tongue, more confident makes me think about so many people that have to move from one country to another, as well as the different languages we learn through our lives, what a beautiful and difficult thing.

I loved every bit of this interview. Thank you, thank you. Freen is absolutely adorable and funny. Becky is just plain cute. Sadly, I'm quite a bit older than them and didn't have stories like GAP/ characters like them around when I was their age, but im glad that we have it and them now. I just can't figure out what it is about them and this show that hits so differently than any other queer show/on screen couple I've seen. There is just something so special about them. They make me feel things in a way that I never have watching other queer shows. Like they haven't really even kissed kissed yet, and I feel like we've been given so much. I've felt more from these characters just from way they look at each other than I've felt in any other show.

THIS. There's just something about GAP... idk I feel like if more series are like this we'll be entering a new era of GL series. THERE IS SO MUCH I WANT TO SAY LOL First off, shows in the west (from hollywood) are fundamentally different than shows in the east like kdramas, cdramas and thai dramas. Eastern shows from asia are definitely more chemistry-focused due to countries being more conservative. We see more cute, tropey scenes with soft music and slow-mos LOL. Whereas in Hollywood, there's less emotional development and instead more physical development. Also, most of the WLW representation is coming from Hollywood cause eastern countries like Korea (the ones who pump out the most content that appeals to international fans) are still afraid to depict queer characters, esp in main roles. So I think what we're seeing now is a high-production kdrama-esque show being made for the first time. And it's no surprise that it's coming from Thailand because BL there is already very popular so switching to GL isn't going to trigger a wave of homophobia LOL. So paired with amazing chemistry, good acting (as far as I can tell from an international standpoint) and a dramatic/exciting plot, we're finally getting a regular, romance/drama eastern-styled show that has a wlw couple at the center. This has never been done before. There's more focus on the emotions and backstories of characters that increases dramatic effect, and much less focus on the physical aspects of the relationship at the beginning. I think that's what makes the show so great for romance fans. GAP's pacing, fleshed out characters, and natural chemistry between the lead actors makes it stand out from the rest of the wlw representation out there. The production quality is so high and we're getting a full, legitimate show focusing on the relationship between two women and following the dramatic k/thai-drama style that is bound to leave butterflies in our stomach... when we think about it, this really is a first. The team really didn't shy away from anything & treated it as just another romance, and that makes me so happy because then it's really just genuine representation (also, kudos to the original novel for the plotline)!
