I love how he can pull up such twisted characters when you can't tell is he good or bad. A lil shift of his face changed the atmosphere, sometimes he looks lonely, sometimes childish, sometimes annoying, sometimes lovely. No wonder he's got many works done at that age 👍

I think he's vastly underrated - those acting and singing skills! - and he has an worldly wise aura, hard to believe he's so young. When I watched this series, I considered it quite slow and boring but second time round, I understand his character much better and have appreciate the little subtleties. I also watched Prodigy Healer which I think was filmed first. Li Hong Yi's role is completely different and the hardships he and Zhao Lu Si's character endure are utterly heartbreaking. It was very interesting and enjoyable to observe and compare the two male leads of Prodigy Healer and Love Better than Immortality. BTW, have you watched the bts for LBTI? Eye opening 👀 haha!

@@peakitchen That's what I have read. Accordingly, it was evident that Li Hongyi was in love with Lusi/really into her during their 2 dramas. There's news saying that the two were caught having dinner together, sitting very close, holding hands with Li Hongyi even wiping Lusi's mouth. However, they broke up after that, they say. Also, there are interviews of Li Hongyi where he says Lusi is not his type, that he'd like to get married when he's 25 and his ideal wife would have characteristics opposite to that of Lusi's (should have height nearer to his, should not belong to entertainment industry, should cook (Lusi doesn't). I don't know if this was the interview that a drama reviewer referred to, saying that it would now be difficult for the two of them to work together. I don't know if any of these are true, except the dinner for which I have pictures. So, I presume they are no longer together. However others say they might just be hiding their romance to avoid gossip. There is also rumor that Lusi is dating another actor behind closed doors/secretly. I feel bad that such a strong attraction/friendship/beginning turned sour, considering what Li Yonghi professed early on.

The who rules the world and long ballad guy are great too. Idk who id pick out of the 3 tbh. They all have their strengths. And of course its hard to tell as all characters are unique so some characters i like less therefore even if i like the actors looks more i might dislike their characters way of showing love etc. Li hongyi seems more loving and sweet but ive only seen this drama of his. The long ballad dude seems rougher and more macho i guess sorta tsudere. And the black fox from who rules the world hes great hes got that flirty banter mischevious high chemistry that reminds me of anya and dimitri of anastasia aninated movie the sort of enemies to lovers explosive energy that is like i can bad mouth them and tease them but god help anyone else who does i love that duality of i hate the world but love you childish with them yet extremely fierce to everyone else and will turn demonic if their love is hurt vibe. Idk but again the characters are written a certain way and its hard to tell if its the actor or the character influencing the chemistry etc. But as far as physical affection love better than immortality wins. Then for deep emotional connection and display long ballad. As far as who rules the world they win making you smile and get all squee kyaa omg flirting banter award their every interaction you cant look away from because it is like a duel with wits or with martial arts but its really fun. So they all have their strengths. Looks wise idk who i prefer as the 3 are different. And zhao lusis characters well i personally dont like her weak girly ones. Shes best suited to the badass smart female role i think yu xushin (esther yu) is better for cutesy roles. So my fav character for zhao lusi is who rules the world and female student at imperial college. The guy from imperial college btw i just didnt feel any connection between them at all and imo he looks kinda weird like maybe he has a really large head or maybe his character design made his head and acting look weird but i didnt consider him attractive actor wise or character wise. No hate to the dude just my opinion and maybe hed look better with a different female lead because lusi has big cute features having a male with even bigger cartoony features looks weird i really like the balance of li hongyi and who rules the world guy who look similar next to lusi its very yin yang looks wise. They both fit really nicely together. So looks wise id say who rules the world looks best with her i think especially so because her character is the best AND the couple is equals. While i enjoy li hongyi with her 2nd fav in this drama they arent equals its all misunderstandings and upset and anger and pain and rarely together anyway so we dont really get a lot of couple moments let alone good ones and the misunderstandings arent natural but mostly dumb and frankly hongyi is amazing but lusi like i said her character is the pits. Like too stupid to live dumb girl like shes from a future or another world where theyre super advanced and even immortal and im assuming dont age as well and she can even see through basic lies tactics she has no knowledge that helps her no skills unique to her no money no power no physical strength either besides constantly getting kidnapped or manipulated shes just idk disappointing overall to the point where i was waiting for it to end whereas other dramas i needed like 10 more episodes minimum of happily ever afters and babies and couple moments. Even imperial college one with the dude i disliked etc i wanted more epilogue type scenes. But yeah chunha is an idiot her best thing is her connection to the 2 male leads thats it. So yeah i dislike the character. Im glad lusi has mostly ditched the chunha type character and chosen strong smart capable females. Thats one pet peeve of mine the really weak useless female characters with high dubbed voices and stupid 4 year tantrum personailities that pretty much ruin the entire drama and are basically in every drama its why i prefer historical fantasy type dramas or the future girl goes back in time otherwise i hate them even the modern ones are gross. Who rules the world was top tier in all aspects for me. And love between fairy and devil too chinese drama wise those are unbeatable. Chinese drama defs has the best i forget the proper name idk but best like martial arts and epic fight scenes etc and costumes. But korean dramas i find better in basically everything else idk maybe theyre more western or just more simple and short and romcom but theyre easier to watch. Music wise chinese japanese and korean all have awesome music but i think korean is probably best overall. Instrumental epic orchesterol pieces are great for chinese though. I do enjoy japanese dramas but they feel more like daytime tv soap opera in most cases. Which im not a fan of. Like intead of real people they seem like caricatures of people like really played up stereotypes. Dont get me wrong their are some great dramas japanese sorta fantasy element wise and a few more normal rom com or even mystery types but theyre very cartoony and too much overall. But obviously japan hands down no competition has the best anime. China has the best epic historical stunts drama wise and clothes etc. Japan best anime and manga Korean dramas and variety shows So its more china has most money japan most artistic/creative skill and korean best dramatic flair and writing ideas. Went off on a tangent there lol apologies. Li hongyi is definitely best skinship and sweetness for zhao lusi. Im thinking of watching their healer drama but i might save it for emergencies 😂💖

This drama is far from perfect but there's so many things to love as well. What's most amazing about it, to me, is how perfectly they stick the landings during flight and action sequences. Very effortless and natural 😀 Even bug budget dramas don't quite get it right.

@@spooky9327 Eternal Love was my introduction to the world of C-drama! I watched it at least 3 times. Massive respect to Mark Chao as Ye Hua, he doesn't have the classical tradition like most actors but his portrayal is on point. Yang Yang (in the film version) looks stunning but can't compare to Mark Chao. I haven't watched that yet cos it's very hard to get hold of.

I love the melody and the lyrics! Beautiful poetry! Makes you understand the constant melancholy in Shangguan's eyes. As spectators, we see his deep love for Xiao Chunhua, yet Chunhua doesn't see until the end. A beautiful love story! Li Hongyi's voice is lovely. I think he sang a part of it during one interview.

When Qiuyue steps over the threshold he is making a huge statement. Or several. That he WILL cross all lines that separate him from Hua. That the threshold/wealth/power/influence of the place is not too much for him. And not too much for him to further expose the so called 'right track's' hypocrisy. He's also stepping into a whole new world of love and loyalty. He's taking yet another huge step to becoming martial arts world's leader. He taking many kinds of steps with that one step at about 2:44. And that step influences all the other steps thereafter. It's an important step.

@@LuckyScrunchy Yes, when she was about to get married. Not sure I know the show well.... just have opinions. And I think you're asking about Huan and Queyue (sorry spelling)? I think he, Queyue, starts showing he loves her when he stops using her.... very close to the time he presents the crystal lotus to Huan. I think he is intrigued by her right from the start of her awakening. He becomes more intrigued and fascinated by her every time he meets her, even when he threatens to kill her. She on the other hand starts to feel something when she's no longer revolted by him in thinking he's her brother and he's flirting with her. She gets to the 'heart' of the matter long before him, even if it's just a little. But again just my opinion. And it can change with each rewatching. This is like my 5th time. Hey, thanks for asking about this... was fun to think about it.
