before genjitsu no yohane, aqours only had their lives that they can use to keep their branch going... and then pandemic hit them and they were the unluckiest to keep getting their lives cancelled... rikyako even said before that at one point they were all "if we can't even do our lives, what else is left of aqours?"... so it was no wonder they were so worried of being forced to stop especially since they can see how fast niji and liella are growing... all of this on top of how they never really got over being made to feel that they were just the emergency stop-gap caretaker between muse and another junior group in their early years by a lot of die-hard muse fans and then their contents getting cancelled so much that it caused them to be worried even about the anime until a public announcement had been made because once the public knows, the chance of the VIPs cancelling that project is significantly reduced

If I see Aqours the first thought that came into my mind is them retiring it scares me because they're the sole reason that I've changed and the reason that I'm still moving forward through my goal. So yeah it's gonna be a sad day for all of us Aqours fans or LL fans in general to see them retire.

Thank you for this! It's really interesting and somehow sad, but also good to know they have many of the same worries that their fans do. I'm not sure what GnY will be like, but I'm SOOOO happy for Aqours. It's really a result of their combined hard work and the fact that they never gave up.

I was genuinely worried that they’d retire before jp would open back up and not be able to see them in a live in person. learning they were making GnY was such an amazing relief and is keeping that dream alive!
