It's not that she forgot about the rice, it's that in her mind she has already processed that event, packed it up, and gave it to "Top Men" who locked it up in a warehouse. In other words that event was so complex and/or so draining that it's probably mentally easier to just lock it up quickly than keep it in your short term memory. But, if it ever needs to be recalled, it becomes such a process to unpack, and sometimes the only way it can be revealed is step by step. I can sort of relate, I've had to walk myself back through situations just so it can make sense or to recall what happened. I'm not a P-Sychiatrist, though. So I could be wrong.

Ah rice. Yep, fried rice is best when made from leftover rice. Sometimes though the rice in a fridge might get soggy. Not to mention mixing rice made from different times, it makes rice go bad faster. Then there's the many options of how to make the fried rice - one might do it Chinese style, or an original style like mixing food that doesn't go bad easily or ones that were made the previous day. Adobo in fried rice is yummy. Or even mixing slightly overcooked spam, etc.
