Hello everyone. I am a Malay lady and an ex teacher. Watching this full video is an eye opener for me. I can understand the concerns that is spoken by countless education stakeholders here because if I were in your shoes, I would probably feel and think the same way too. But as a Malay and a Muslim, there is a golden rule that we all must never forget that is when you do good, goodness too shall be returned to you. I believe that only time can truly show you that the goodness that you do in educating the non chinese children will come back to you, in a way that will make you feel content.
Strangely, Malaysian Chinese schools did not produce any well known senior executives for big Chinese companies. Sg has chew Shou zi, Jessica Tan ( ex ping an), Jenny Lee ( top female VC in China) and Luanne Lim (HSBC HK).

They are. Just that they are so low profile. They seldom show up on medias and public. Do you know Public Bank, DIY, Speed Mart 99, Glennegle Hospitals, Hong Leong Bank, Grabs, and don't forget many elites in Singapore are Malaysian

@lisa.e5776 glen eagles is Malaysian? Elites in SG are Malaysians? 😂 You are kidding. Public Bank Malaysian domestic bank. HL is not big in SG. U can't read. I said senior executives for Chinese companies. I can't name you a Malaysian holding senior positions in Chinese companies same level as chou Zi and Jessica.

@denzilwashingboard Bullshit, is English your mother tongue? Don't be a chauvinist and divisionist, Chinese have multiple dialects with the same written form, they need a common language to communicate. Why the need to communicate in English among Chinese unless they are in the presence of other non Chinese speakers. As an ethnic Chinese, you should strive to learn and use the language whenever possible, don't give me this bullshit it is Beijing or Manchurian language like many Westerners like to say like they know Chinese better!
Singapore Chinese bad? This is surprising - why is it so? Mandarin is compulsory, right?

@mkleng The late LKY once said, if he could go back in time, he wouldn't have abolished vernacular Mandarin schools, but unfortunately his son LHL, ironically Chinese educated himself, didn't take heed of his advice.

Yes, English is probably the most important foreign language for any country in the world... but don't forget Chinese (Mandarin) is important too, at least for the Chinese. Learning English in a non-English speaking country like China is very challenging because of the lack of an English-speaking environment and Chinese society is too homogeneous for a second language to flourish...the problem has also got to do with how English is being taught in schools of Mainland China. There is too much emphasis on grammar and little focus on communication. The average Chinese pupil memorize a lot of English words but most Chinese students don't know how to even conduct a meaningful conversation with an English-speaking foreigner. They should come to Malaysia to pick up their English speaking skills as we have a population that could communicate in English (though not to a very high level) and our society encompasses English willingly though not exclusively.
With the Rise of China economically and technologically in the 21st Century the Study of the Chinese Language becomes more important for Self Advancement.
This video is so bigoted. Imagine if an immigrant population to China complains that they may lose their mother tongue and culture if more locals enroll to their schools, see what will happen. Why do you think in Malaysia we should accept this open bigotry? You tell Malays you have to follow your culture but when they put Jawi in textbook which was the script Malays used for hundreds of years, you started fitting like crazy and foaming at your mouth. The double standard is crazy.
Chinese education teaches students to use their brain and not let the govt think for them. Not let the govt tell them what to eat or when to eat or where to eat.

And they can’t even speak the national language. You can speak all the mandarin you want or make it your preferred first language. But you have to have ACCEPTABLE level of conduct in the Malaysian language after 100-200 years of living in the country. Really that hard? Or just LAZY when you accuse us Malays of being lazy? The double standard is unreal.

@@ghrbaa6727 Don't make blanket statements without providing any statistics. Generally speaking, anyone who has gone through the formal SRJK system has a basic knowledge of BM, in addition to their main language, Mandarin Chinese, and some English. Sure, there may be a few who don’t speak the language fluently due to their environment, but given time, they eventually have to pick it up for survival. I condemn your chauvinistic attitude, as it shows a lack of empathy for others. Learning multiple languages is not an easy task for anyone, and it may take some people longer than others. I’m fortunate to be equally fluent in three languages, in addition to three other Chinese dialects.
