Because it's usually off the wall batshit crazy or the complete opposite. The duality of man. "I grew up in my parents house with my younger sister/brother, graduated high school, went to college and got bored with my job so I thought I'd do this." to "I grew up with my four younger siblings, my parents were rarely around so I had to look after them most of the time. I dropped out of high school and lived on the streets for much of my late adolescence. When I finally did get my life on track and my feet under me my house burnt down and I lost my job. Thought I'd give this a go or something because I didn't have much of a choice lol."

I want to Gundou-sensei to become Kanda's private teacher xD Bully become cops? Sounds like a bully that want to abuse their powers. That was a pretty sad highschool experiences Kanda had, as someone that got "bullied" like that, I can understand what Kanda went through. Though Kanda is pretty lucky to have supporting parents and good times after he moved school. I guess because of these experiences Kanda became a better person, which is pretty nice

I was also dropped out from my high school before. I was psychologically attacked by the boy classmates back when I was still on my 3rd year. My teachers were seem to laugh it off whenever the boys did obvious bullying to me, but there was time when a girl classmate stood for me and told them to stop bullying me. But yeah, in the end, I couldn't resist being a scapegoat so I forced myself to stay at my room until the day my vice principal offered a drop out paper. They always thought that I was a carefree person that they can bully when I literally wasnt. I always liked it to be in school since I used to be abused by my parents at home, I never told about it to my teachers because I wanted to feel at least happy when I was out of the abusive stuff during my study time at school. But my parents changed after the bullying broke me. They realized that I was never fine with my life eventho I already did my best to satisfy them by how I studied. After the drop out, they did their best to support and comfort me till I regain myself. And I also am still grateful nowadays that I survived those hard days. Also sorry if youre reading this, and I hope you have a nice day!

I also got bullied like him in high school but I kept trying to go to school without able doing anything. Cause fight back and people will tell that you are overreacting and get casted aside even harder (not to mention, guaranteed loss), cause they don't take the bullying as "bullying" in their perspectives, most people just don't want to get in trouble so they will choose the easy way, ignore. Bullying in any forms and levels is truly disgusting, it makes me sad knowing there are so many more bullied people out there and the bullies just never get punished for doing it. Glad that he found where he belonged though, I also found mine, I'm happy

Nyarlathotep I would say the other way. Talking about bullying and such is much more taboo in Japan than the us because of the respect and honor culture there. Yes, the US might have some teachers that don’t know how to handle it but they have wider knowledge overall, if they have such good anti-bullying in Japan why do they install wire fences in roofs and still have kids throw themselves off to kill them selves.

Obviously, this is just an assumption, but I can see Kanda telling this story to Gundou and probably solidifying their friendship. Maybe like say brother and sister kind of deal. I know We joke about GunKan a lot, but I think things like Kanda's experiences probably def influences Gundou IRL job as a teacher to always lookout for her students, especially in an all boys school. A lot of things could have led Kanda to a "bad end" if he hadn't had his parents and the newer and compassionate students in his new HS. It's really awesome to hear these stories. Everyone has a story of their own on how they came to be who they are. GunKan the way I look at it is more less not of a romance, but say Starsky & Hutch. lol Buddy Cop kinda feel from how they interact, imho.
