If one can make a Naga mermaid cry, the shed tears will turn into priceless luminous pearls. Hai Shi is a young girl living in a coastal village where people use the ruse of killing their children to make mermaids cry and gather the pearls to pay for taxes. It was on such a fishing trip that Hai Shi's father was killed. Hai Shi's town was ransacked by soldiers and she develops a grudge against the emperor whom she holds responsible for the tragic events and vows to seek revenge.

I have never cried this much in my entire life that I did while watching this series. From the beginning of the series, the struggle of Haisi to get her love, later Jianming's love for her with his life but not confessing it just to keep her safe and finally the pain of not being together is portrayed so finely that after seeing it, one question came to my mind again and again that "why love is so difficult?" 😭

Loved every second of it except the ending. They should have stayed together and raised the prince as a family. He still could have been his Baixi and she could have still have been Madam Pearl. And tears would not have been flowing down my cheeks.

While I would love to see that, I don't think they would be allowed to raise the emperor outside of court. It could create a lot.of problems since traitors (such as Tilan's father) might refuse to believe his legitimacy, considering his aunt Mudan and uncle Jichang turned out to be fake. They also can't let anymore people know that Jianming is not dead because he's very weak after becoming the baby's baixi. He won't be able to actively protect them if someone tries to use them as bait. Also, Haishi is still the Emperor's widow in the world's eyes. Her and Jianming being together even in secret will somehow get out and bring her chastity into question, and they can't afford it while the new Emperor is merely a toddler. There are too many spies in the palace.

Would've been great, although according to the show's theme, I feel like Haishi has completely transformed into a true Fang by the end (a fate she could not escape). She might not have the blood to be a Baixi but to be a Fang is to lead a life solely focused on protecting and guiding the current emperor. It makes sense that Haishi and Jianming don't have a child of their own because their entire existence is now dedicated to bringing up their friends' only child.

The long waited couple I wanted to see so bad finally master shuazing has found the girl. The ending is tragic but surtisifing. Am in love with that strong will Enoch Mu, most dramas the closed Enoch of the emperor are always bad guys but this one has been loving and faithful to him. Let's not forget Tilan, falling in love with a man who almost killed u isn't uneasy thing. She is out of the ordinary for taking pain in a clam manna and waited pesciently for the good days to come with out turning her back on him. She is a real hero.

If Jainmine or Haishi was still at the capital, the emperor could have been talked out of going out there by himself 😢 Rebels weren’t going to harm Tilan… 😞. I truly think this series should have ended on episode 46…. Last 2 episodes of more scheming, betrayal and killing was so unnecessary for this ending 😢 Also, I just wanna add that I really loved the emperor’s devoted loyal Eunuch. He broke my heart with how much he cared for the emperor 😢

Yang Mi has been my favorite actress but after watching this drama I fell for every character. Everyone got the ending they deserved well God gave haishi a chance to live a happy and normal life with youdu but she choose to be with fung janming n finally end up being a guardian of a prince without any family and happiness Fang janmiang spent his whole life for the country and the king without thinking abt his own happiness human life peace happiness is far more important than a kingdom he finally end up being baixi of a prince The king was so rude to everyone around him he was sad because he lose zizan but that doesn't mean he can torture tilan his behaviour towards tilan was one of the causes of his death Tilan was so naive she didn't think her maids were sending inner news to her brother even when her maid poisoned the king she didn't remove them she should have understood that time her maids were her brother's spy This is a perfect ending

Love can't live without bloody sacrifice that's why it's so deep it makes us stronger to fight for what we believe is right there isn't a more beautiful way than that, but obviously I agree with you with the ending sometimes you have to be patient & wait maybe when he grows up they're undo the bond maybe that's just life we don't always get happy endings at least they can live, see each other through the kid that's enough for me.
