If we extend the general distance in finite dimensions directly to infinite dimensions, the distance diverges to infinity. How should we define the distance in infinite dimensions?
Outline of the proof of the triangle inequality at 9:20:
Given A,B,C≥0, you can show that if A≤B+C, then A/(1+A) ≤ B/(1+B) + C/(1+C). Using this, you can prove the triangle inequality.
