This is fantastic, Larry. Your descriptions of your training ideas make detailed lessons that we can do. Thanks! I am inspired by your creative process of training behaviours and building relationship with your dog. Very special video for me.

I use 2 air puffs to begin the about left turn LOL! I use a ball on a string that clips to an arm that comes up and secures at a 90-degree angle from a plastic pole that has a spike and sticks in the ground... slowly move the dog further and further away until the send out is proofed then add a down every few send outs. I like teaching a puppy using the food bowl... I will use that for my next working dog.

Thank you for the informative video Larry. I’m curious, why do you never get a Labrador for training?

Right on Brother! Engagement first, build prey drive, build toy drive! When you force a dog or you use a lot of negative markers most dogs won't want to engage! In the beginning when using food use the food to build prey drive....

Tried the send away the way Larry did with Mango with my 8 month old and with a few pieces of kibble at a time and pup got it in one session!

Can someone give examples on how to make the dog feel in control while still being a strong leader?

Hi Larry, I'm sure I speak for thousands of dog owners judging by what I read in KZbin comment sections, the reason I'm asking you is the way you translate how to do things, could you please please do some videos on getting a stubborn dog that pulls like a train to stop pulling and walk on loose leash, but use a dog that pulls, not like all other videos people make with dogs that already understand what they are meant to be doing, show us, reward, e collar whatever you feel fit or both, I'm sure it would be a great hit with viewers, please help us very very frustrated dog owners. Thanks Stuart

the send away, when they lift and put their paws on a wall, i've seen it in a bunch of sports like belgian ring, what is the real world application of that? from my understanding all the commands from those competitions are with the purpose of testing the dog to see how would translate to the real world. Why would i want my dog to go and stand on a wall on the real world? I don't get what would be the purpose of that...

It's fun. Fun for the dog and fun for the trainer and fun for the audience. Training his way is fun and a positive experience. That said, I use that position to put my leash on, having balance and blood pressure issues makes bending over unwise.
