Engine braking refers to the process of slowing down a vehicle, in this case, a bike (usually a motorcycle), by using the engine’s resistance rather than the traditional brake system. This happens when you release the throttle and downshift gears, causing the engine’s compression to resist the forward motion of the bike, thus slowing it down.
Throttle Release: When the rider closes the throttle (reduces fuel supply), the engine generates a decelerating force.
Downshifting: Shifting to a lower gear increases the engine RPM (revolutions per minute), which results in the engine absorbing more of the bike’s kinetic energy, causing it to decelerate.
Reduction of Speed: The resistance from the engine acts as a braking force, helping to slow the bike without applying the actual brakes.
Reduces Wear: It helps reduce the wear on the bike’s brake pads since you are not relying solely on the brake system.
Improved Control: It allows for smoother deceleration, especially on long downhill stretches or in high-speed situations.
Fuel Efficiency: Modern motorcycles with fuel injection systems shut off fuel supply during engine braking, leading to better fuel efficiency.

Some tips here: 1. Get to know your bike's power and torque delivery on all RPM ranges. 2. I learned this on a bike without any slipper clutch, tc, or any other assists. 3. Try to roll off the throttle completely most of the time, not to surprise your clutch! 4. Now clutch in, downshift, blip, and let clutch off at the same time. Bonus: 1. Use your back brake every now and then while cornering to correct your lines. Only trail braking is not enough. 2. When engine braking, slightly pull the front brake lever just not to engage but to turn on the stopping lights to hint to other riders that you're braking aggressively. 3. Set your corner speed on the straight line as much as possible, and use the trail braking until the apex. Wear your helmets, and other safe gear as much as possible. Happy blipping 😊

In old Jawa and yezdi bikes, Engine braking is the only option to slow down the bike. Normal braking is not efficient in those bikes.

Initially learning put down swift 1 gear only. If u will go 5th gear u do swift 1 gear only 5th to 4th with front break only, don't put back brake while down swift, then bike back tyre will go on slide. If u will driving 3rd gear u swift on 2nd gear. Its only safe. Begginer only do down swift one gear only. After more practice u will understand bike which is speed need to 1 or 2 gear do down swift. Down swift Begginer very need to safe. Do this practice.

Continuous vaccum air in the combustion stoke will damage or reduce the life time of piston and cylinder. Because vaccum air has oxygen it can give way to oxidation. So there is possible of rusting, corrosion. Can you please explain?

If during engine breaking. Air and fuel is cut off as per the definition. Why does the engine rpm revs high? According to your theory the engine must stall thus locking the wheel and eventually skid? All bikes are now MPFI controlled by ecu, cams are mechanically driven. Now taking the practicle condition, when ecu sences low to no air fuel mixture it must provide the required amount of fuel n air ( lean mixture)to it else due to suction the valves will be blown. In this case if the ecu does not support the engine requirements, its a ecu fail thus some error must be thrown. Non of it happens while doing so. Pherhaps a detailed explanation on gear and gear ratio along with its principle will give a good exposure to how engine breaking works.

I have a doubt and i hope you guys could help me in your next video . I have suzuki gixxer 150 2023 model. It has front ABS and rear is Disc brake. the problem is at sometimes in high speeds , due to sudden circumstances if i have to apply brakes , at that time my rear brakes on application results in skitting of back tire . Even i apply my front first and then go for the rear .... still the tire skits and wobbles a lot. at an emergency time , when the situation demands aggressive braking , i try to combine the rear brakes and it mostly results in skiting of the tires. what is the solution for this ? Does engine braking help me in this issue . could you guys please look into this and help me . thank you

First slow down the throttle don't apply clutch . The bike slow down for 87 to 40 or 35 in 5 secs. Finally apply the clutch and decrease the gears also work the Suzuki gixxer also all of bike works note front abs must

Bro...rev matching feels soo sooo great...but, normally if my RTR 160 4v gave me 47 as mileage...with rev matching, I will get as low as 40... because you'd have to blip your throttle every time you down shift...But, rev matching feels much safer than simply engine braking.

6:40 I have another doubt in engine braking. While downshifting suddenly load carried on back wheels and chain also. so will it affect chain life? And what for clutch plates also? And for your information as long time i used to ride splendour. You all know about drum brakes😅 so for sudden braking I used to brake and downshift to 2nd gear simultaneously

according to me,it doesnt affect chain what does gets affected is the chain sprocket...but most of the bike manufacturing companies promote engine breaking so its safe...until or unless it is done correctly
