Engine cooling fan relays and fuses - test - Opel/Vauxhall Astra H, Zafira B P1481, P1482, P1483

Astra H 1.7CDTI, 40Amp FE6 fuse kept blowing, usually when the AC is turned on. Fault codes were the following: ECN 048006 and ECN 048106 and later on 242F66 because the DPF regeneration was blocked due to the fan error. The fan in front of the engine was fine but the second fan, in front of the condenser was sticking, it was hard to turn by hand (screwdriver). Thank you for the information.

thankyou for sharing, can you short the fan to turn on by removing the relay and shorting the connections?

My fan got stuck at the highest step and was soo noisy even after i was turning off the engine. All i had to do is to remove the relays and tap them gently in different angles. Guess what! The problem is gone! Most probably the high speed relay got stuck for some reason and i will replace it asap so to dont get my hands greasy again! Thanks for pointing which relay does what!

@@aarongreen6500 Hey! I dont remember since that happened 3 years ago. But i am pretty sure it was one of the far frond side of the fuse box. You can find which one it is either online, the cap of the fusebox has some info too and also the manuals.

I seem to get the 1481 code on the pedal test on my 57 plate astra h 1.6 turbo. I only ever see the fan on speed 3 for the rear fan only and the other one in front never comes on.

I changed one of the square fuses at the bottom of the front fuse box and it fixed my issue. Not sure why it blew in the first place but hasn’t blown since and it’s been a few days. Both fans have been seen working too.

Hi I’ve Astra h Vxr 2008 Just got out of storage 10months 1-ac not working no pressure on low side clutch is free no fuse blown 2- since getting ready for and having mot only the rear cooling fan is working I’m sure both used to run for cooling regardless of ac on or not sounds a bit coincidental???? I've the video and the details, thought it would help me with the p1481 error on my astra h, 1,7 but unfortunately not, got any other ideas where I could check for this problem, I've tried replacing the relay and removed the fuse box as it had a bit of corrosion around the connectors cleaned it up and put it back together, still nothing had another problem that meant I change ecu so I changed everything included and I'm still getting the same problem, I noticed there are two blocks on the front of my front fan, one is black the other is gray,,,,are these relays also?

Many thanks for the video. I don't suppose you know where these components are located on a zafira A '55 plate do you please? I'm getting error p1482 fan relay open circuit but can't for the life of me find out which relay to locate and diagnose. I've tried all the ones under the hood - only suspect ones so far seem to be near the battery (2 white, 1 black relays, no fuses). Google has otherwise failed me and I'm not overly confident to start randomly testing things - I know easy it is to burn electrics out with a simple mistake. Any help, if you have the time, would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, brother. I am writing from Turkey. I have a problem. I have a Z16xer Astra. I turn on the air conditioner, but the first-stage fan does not work. Only the second-tier fan works. I am able to activate the first-stage fan to try using op-com so it works normally with op-com. But when I turn on the air conditioner, only the second-stage fan works, the first-stage does not work. what do you think is my problem which relays should I replace?

I used to feel quite a lot of hot air being blown from under the car, sometimes even when the engine was switched off, now I don't. Guess what, my turbo had just failed and had to be replaced. Now the fan still isn't working and can see the turbo failing again. Astra SRI Turbo 2008. 1st signs were needing water, then oil and then turbo. Wierd thing on this car, it has no temperature reading, no clock etc, telling the driver that the engine is overheating!

My fuse "FE6" keeps blowing. Astra MK5 1.7CDTI saloon. It shows P1481 and P1482 as you suggest. Any idea's on a first troubleshooting step, replace the fan motor?

I've just took the front off, the fan in front of the radiator doesn't turn very easily at a certain point. BOSCH 0130 303 960 GM 13 132559. Will get this changed and see how it looks after..

Yeah, I believe there is a short circuit in the front fan. It then blows the FR6 fuse, which also feeds speed 2, so you get two error codes 1481 and 1482

The new (used) fan works a charm! Saved me a few pennies, cheers. I should have probably done that before burning through 6 fuses :p

I’ve tested my 1.9 cdti Astra with op-com. Fan test 1 and 3 are fine but I get nothing on test 2 on either fan or any fault code. I can hear the relay click when I go to test it. Any ideas?

@@cosmin2300 My fan only works in stage one, that's when I put the blower on inside the car. If I dont put the blower on then the fan wont turn at all.

I couldn't find the cause of the problem for me.... Can it be a wire ground issue?

@@cosmin2300 Trying to get mechanic I know to look at it. I found temp gauge hidden in settings and it was in the 90's, started rising higher when aircon was switched off. Soon as I started aircon, the temp lowered a little but this was stationary. Turbo failed a bit back, its going to fail again unless it gets fixed. Wish I'd noticed fan was only running on low speed before. P.S Thanks for reply 👍

K11 is for the rear fan only so I believe you don't have a rear fan? What engine is yours? What error code do you get?

Fix and zafir ecotec engine and there is only 1 fan between radiater and the engine. i dont know if you call that fan1 or fan2

i have error code p48106 according to internet it means fan control 2 circuit power low. i think this might be the relay attached to the fan housing.
