After watching part of another video , reading the comments and now clicking on this, I’m so not ready to set up my sc live 4 and try to run my collection of music through engine dj desktop or whatever it’s called, put them on usb and get them to work. I thought this device would be a dream but the streaming services was just a bonus. All my loved personal music for mixing looks like it will be sitting on my laptop . I should have listened to comments like Sc live 4 keeps crashing Sc live 4 keeps corrupting my music etc 😂 And there was me thinking I could simply load mp3 onto my usb stick and plug in to sc live 4 analyse and off I go. Lol

I agree a bit .. it should be more simple but it’s not . Technically, I used a small external SSD hard drive without engine dj software With the prime 4 when it came out . It works , but I could not analyze multiple tracks or playlists at one time..so it’s one track at a time by load and then placing my all my cues again and adding songs to playlists was an issue at times for me. I Did that for about 6 months .. then gave into Engine dj software. But by then i had a solid hard drive with the Prime 4 without engine software that worked well but adding new music always frustrated me. It would work if you just added a new playlist every time with your new music.. but mixing new songs into other playlists sometimes cause issues. So if that could be fixed with a USB stick or hard drive without engine software... It would be annoying but manageable with the hardware. So… If you had a solid usb stick or hard drive with music and you never added music to it would work. Just make sure it’s a ExFat or Fat32 format too.. haha . Thanks for watching and sharing.

Thanks for the Video. I have a possibly stupid question. Just bought a Prime Go and successfully transferred my serato crates to engine dj and then to USB. How do I transfer my entire Serato Library (songs that aren't in crates... Main Library)?

How about adding or removing columns? I like to make a Comments column for notes on specific tracks. The user's manual says can do however have not been able to. Thanks!

Thanks for watching and your question. On the column bar right or left click with your mouse (depending on your setup) and then you can add / select columns : such as length, file type , and key . I believe comments is one you can add too. Just check it and it will appear as a option in your column bar options. Thanks .

Hello Martini, im seeing a lot of red tracks in my engine dj software collection and would like to fix this. Do you suggest I format the drive I use with my prime go and erase the playlists and re-import my tracks from my external drive where I have all my tracks stored, into engine dj software? Also, do you suggest I keep my music library on an external hard drive or is it best stored in my internal hard drive of my laptop/desktop computer?

Thanks for watching and your question. My thoughts. I do keep a back up external hard drive with just my music (just for storage / emergency) Then I have dj laptop that also has all my music on it . On the laptop I have my Dj software / programs on it .. including engine dj software. Then i place all my music files into engine dj software but i also only use that one laptop with engine software to transfer or remove songs from my hard drives for my prime 4 and go drives . If you use multiple computers , external drive, or add songs using the prime controllers… you will always had trouble / issues with missing or corrupted files . Unfortunately in my opinion you will have to start fresh .. with the old drive yes reformat . Then use your laptop with all your music on it, Then use engine Dj software and place all music into that program . Then always use the engine software and the sync manager to add or remove music from your drives for your Prime controllers . Hopefully that makes sense and I hope you get it working. Thanks.

Dj Martini I have a question for you I have looked back on some of your vids and I think I remember that you had at one time updated your prime 4 way back on how you downloaded software update where you pushed buttons on the unit with thumb drive to install update can you tell me which buttons you pushed I was downloading 3.1.1 update via wifi and it got stuck on updating mixer and doesn't finish the process so I need to get that info from you to finish that update via thumb drive thanks I hope you can understand what I am doing thank you.

I have not made a video via the usb updater yet but I will the next update.. thanks . So it’s a similar process to the corded or laptop method. Download the update via the usb uploader from the engine dj site for your correct device.. on to your laptop . Then place it on a empty flash drive formatted via fat32 file format. Then on the controller side insert the flash drive /usb stick , go to settings, updates ,and place it in update reboot mode . Then choose the USB/SD option as the update form . Then the update should begin and hopefully a successful update. Thanks .

Is there anyway to rearrange the order of playlists? Not the songs within a playlist. The actual playlists. Mine are in chronological order and I can't change the order with the list of playlists if that makes sense.

Hello , yes ..so depending on your mouse settings.. Just right or left click and hold on the playlist you would like move . Then drag it up or down your list . When you have a solid line between or above the spot you want to place the playlist then un click your hold on the mouse to place . Notice : just make sure it’s a solid line above or below and not a box around another playlist or you put that playlist in a containing playlists.. if you do place in other playlists / just repeat the steps to get it out . Since you are the only one that creates the most unique info's that djs WILL need and just didnt confront that topic yet ; i have a request and i would appreciate if you can create a video for that : as you already know, the newest update version of engine 3.2 just got released and they said you must re-analyze the tracks after the software update to use the new updated downbeat recognizer . The problem is that i have saved cues on my usb drive i also deleted the playlists on my engine software😅 . Is there any way to rescue them ? And if not, then what is the solution to save them if i have them on the software's playlist in the future ( should re-analyze and save the backup to a different directory for each usb to load and re-use them ) . Thank you

Hello , thank you for watching and your question. Ok , I will get back to you on re-analyzing your tracks .. I’m not sure but I don’t think it erases your cues and saved info. It Just checks the bpm, key, and info again. I do know if you erase a playlist on engine dj there is no way to get it back, unless it is save on another music file on your computer. Then the music can be added back to engine dj software but you will have to add your info and cues back . I just lost / corrupted 😠 a whole drive on my prime 4 and it was pain to restore because I had erased playlists on the drive and had new playlists on my engine dj software and it did not match file locations in my computers.. causing issues . So it left missing songs , playlists , and I had issue finding tracks . Give me a little time research my thoughts (i always mix up all dj softwares I use) and I will make another video regarding your topic and other issues / fixes .. with my thoughts for help . @@DjMartiniMidwest thank you for your precious time and consideration and effort into this dear mr martini . I've found some solutions you can try them and make a video about that if you like after finding them useful . to secure the prepared cues/loops on a synced driver : it is just as you said we dont have to remap cause it doesnt clear them when re-analyzing. Whenever we attach a driver (usb/sd/ssd etc) to the pc and run the engine dj software ,it loads the collection of that synced driver to the collections in the playlist section . it is accessable within the drivers ( bottom-left) and when you click on that external synced driver within ; it loads all the playlists that driver contains ; then we can select all of them and right click and choose (re-analyze selection or tracks or something like that) . (before that just for the safety i suggest to backup the current collections on the software , then go to the directory that usually stores the backup that is the musics parent folder in the windows and copy it somewhere ) after we generated a backup and store them we can run the cleanup (within the settings of enginedj software ) and then we can reach the . Also for the corrupted tracks you can manually open a window of that driver in windows (directory address like f:/dj2 )while the engine dj software is still open and just search the the keywords of that lost track and after you found that track you can just simply "drag and drop" that in the collections playlist of your external driver within the "drivers" section of that and then right click on that red corrupted one and select remove from driver . In addition I also drag and drop new folders and playlists in that way too . And it just does the same as sync to driver option and even better cause you dont have to delete and re import again . I also delete or move the unwanted tracks to another folder that way too . Since i respect your knowledge ;exprecience and chraracter soulfuly : with all respect i'll be happy to to see some light bars and a good quality camera within your future contents cause you deserve more attention . And other processes are just a few clicks with AI . You can use bing for further info sir . ✌️

How do you add 1 new song from engine dj to an existing playlist on the usb without having to SYNC the entire usb just for 1 new song?

Thanks for the watch and your question . So I’m not 100 percent on your question but adding one song can be done by drop and dragging the song into your engine dj collection. Then from you collection it can be add to a playlist later. Later it might have to be synced to usb or it will not be analyzed for your prime device when loaded . Or just add the song on the usb not using the engine dj software and it will show up, then add it to your playlist on the prime device later ….although this could cause file errors down the road later . @DjMartiniMidwest The issue I believe every user is having is adding newly analyzed tracks to USB. The crate option is no longer available on the latest software. To create a crate/folder for a USB device you have to create a playlist on PC/Mac Engine DJ, then export that playlist onto your USB, everything pre- analyzed, even hotcues etc. But here is the BIG issue, if I want to add just 1 new song to my USB which has been analyzed in Engine DJ, I need to SYNC it to my USB. You can not just SYNC one individual song, you have to SYNC the entire playlist that the new song is contained in. But if you have other playlists ("folders") which have different genres etc, when you SYNC you have to also select all your playlists even if they are currently already on your USB because each time you SYNC it is more like formatting & anything you don't add will be deleted from the USB. It's ridiculous 🙃

So I just tested it and yes ( YOU are absolutely correct!) It had been awhile since I added music . So I added just one song to the collection on Engine Dj and it just added a new playlist . It Is a pain that you have to add another playlist . So Engine dj needs figure out a better way. Although I usually add a whole playlist or one song to an existing playlist . 😀Thanks.
