Loved the views of entering the inlet at Southport. That's where I sea trialed my boat before purchasing it. Not a sailboat, but a 24' center console. The algorithm just popped up your channel earlier tonight and I've been binging your videos from the point you first moved into your sailboat.

The algorithm sent me here when you guys picked up the boat. I'm glad it did. I will have to say though, the government contract in Wyoming has me interested in knowing more about that. Looking forward to hearing some about you guys side jobs in the future hopefully to give me a bit of inspiration to try some new things myself.

Since the belt was loose there is a good chance the alternator wasn't charging so the battery may have been low when you were trying to restart. A low battery won't allow the starter solenoid to make good contact, so won't engage the starter. So you should be good. Also, you can make a heat shield if you're concerned about the starter getting heat soaked. You can make a heat shield out of the metal from a can of beans or a tasty beverage can. Love that you guys jumped into sailing and are explaining as you go. It was a great video and that was my old stomping grounds, love that part of the east coast. When you talking to us about the engine, your outfit was perfect with the original Mad Max. LoL 😂🤣 Also, it is very good idea to always discuss with each other the pro/con of the trip. We did that on our boat and kept a journal. Happy sailing ⛵

So cool you guys were in Georgetown. I live about 20 minutes north on the coast from where you were. That inlet coming into Georgetown is notorious for high winds and heavy chop, but the whole coast there really is beautiful. So excited to see what sailing adventures the future holds!

Good to see you always upgrading your boat with safety equipment. We were concerned about your safety when the engine stopped running. Then the waves getting larger. Good to have a competent mechanic on board. I don’t think you can call AAA when something goes wrong. Congratulations again on your chosen new life. Still waiting for my new hat to purchase 😊

Some years ago my seawater intake clogged with debris and caused my engine to over heat. Just something else to always check ❤ . I really enjoy following along on your adventures.

Enjoy y'all channel. I was just watching Tula endless summer and they have a Seawind and had engine overheating issues also. Y'all found belts to be the issue but they're problem was with the water intake filters. Billy said it was a bad design so y'all may want to check that when y'all get back to the boat. Greetings from the Gold Coast, Australia 🇦🇺 Really enjoy your show, you guys obviously have some strong DIY & mechanical skills, do you think it would be realistic to do what your doing, without that skill set? I suspect if a person with no experience were to buy a boat like yours, learning to sail is probably the east part, as you could start off with easy passages in good weather, and build from there. But it seems fixing everything that breaks would be the challenge.

I have a Freightliner Detroit deisel. Anytime it under a heavy load climbing through the rockies I cut off ACand start watching the Temps, at around 225 degrees the coolant system starts running g coolant through the engine until it cools to about 200 degrees, hope this helps I know uts not a boat buts it's sort of similar

OK so how do you determine where you can anchor overnight in a port?

That spot in georgetown there were a few other boats and then there are plenty of spots listed on apps like navionics, we are always watching our depth meter and looking around for anything that could be a hazard and then you have to judge the hold which really depends what's on the bottom.

Suggestion: You should change the name of your tender so that when someone sees your tender at the dock, they know that you are away from your boat.
