Hey Tom, watching your video trying to find out what the bolt is for that’s just above the oil drain plug. If you go to 13:02 you will see which one I am talking about it’s the one with the Phillips head. Looks like it’s at the end of a horse shoe.

I know these videos are old but I’m having an issue with mine, I replaced the kick starter shaft and it acts like it wants to stick, I can’t find which video you installed that in but was curious what you think it may be?

@@martyhebb5181 check how you have the spring installed, it’s kind of tricky but you can get it!

When putting mine back together after I put that little ball in I can not get the clutch plate back on. Any advice would help?

Well I don’t know why it would not go back on. All I can suggest is to have the manual open and read the steps, take it slowly and if it starts to get frustrating then take a break and come back. Patience will save you. Good luck.

No tool required, just install it.

Ok so at 11:20 at the top of the right cam chain guide there is a threaded hole, did you put anything in it? Mine doesn't have anything in it either and I didn't see you put anything into yours, why exactly is it there if it's not supposed to have anything threaded into it? Or is it supposed to have something threaded into it?

Just to confirm I am talking about the small hole to the right not the big hole where you can see the rod

joe t I don’t remember using that threaded hole, but I can’t really remember. Sometimes these engine cases are used for other models, may be why there are different holes/etc. Anyway, keep going and use the manual! Good luck.

So that conical spring washer that goes on first on the clutch shaft, which direction should it face? Bowl up or down? The haynes manual I have doesnt even mention and although you point it out in the video its hard to tell. Thanks in advance!

Hey can you help me out with somthing I've been trying to put the stator back on but when I put bolts in to it the kick start gets stick and also there is this grinding sound when I try to kick it over what am I doing wrong

What set torque do you have on the bolts on the base of the engine? Cause I have a [2008 yamaha TTR125] myself an even with the manual I don't understand what the set torque is for left side of the enginge after cleaning up the gears.

Help I took mine apart to fix the shifter ,and now I see a bunch of tiny springs in the oil and on the flywheel

@toms tinkering and adventures Can’t for the life of me get the clutch cover back on. Seems to be the kickstart gear since I replaced the spring on a clapped free ttr125. Any advice?

Step back, take a break...then carefully look over everything to make sure it is properly in place. The kickstart gear and shaft are notoriously difficult to get in correctly. Take your time and don’t force anything, it will go on smoothly when it’s right. Good luck.

Looking down at the clutch side case, to respring the kick, which way does the spring need to go to get into the spring holder hole?

Crank connecting rod horizontal play can make noise?

Most engines have a specified amount of side to side play in the connecting rod. You would have to check the manual for the limits.

Do you know if a YBR-125 crankshaft will fit a TTR-125? They look to be the same, and I'm having trouble sourcing a TTR crank

I had never even heard of the YBR125, but after a few minutes of internet searching it appears to be very similar. I don’t know for sure, I suggest you research it and if it works please let me know. Thanks for watching.

What were your issues that you had with installing the kickshaft? After replacing the clutch plates on my TTR125, kick starter intermittently makes a ratcheting noise when idling. I have pulled it back apart multiple times and everything seems to be seated according to the manuals instructions. Any advice would help?

Jeffrey Nickell you just have to very carefully read the manual and be sure to install it correctly. It’s pretty easy to mess it up.

any tips my ttr recently stopped being able to shift into second gear it shifts into neutral then first but when i try to kick it into second it won’t shift and the kickstarter is locked

Conor DiGiovanni I guess start checking the shift shaft, clutch area, etc. Hopefully you find something simple, otherwise it’s going to involve splitting the engine. Good luck.

How did you get the stator/flywheel on? I know you need the pulley to get it off, is it as easy as u made it look? 😂

It’s not too difficult if you have the flywheel puller. 😃

Installing it is easy, just torque it down to the correct specifications.

Just wanted to say thank you for the in-depth videos in this series. I have the manual and part diagrams but watching your video helps a lot especial with the chaotic order of the Manual. Also side note 7.2 times 12 is 86.4 but close enough for a "mechanic" lol but thanks a lot again.

Tom, Great video! Watched multiple times. Just bought a non-running 2007 TTR125. Took the engine out and almost ready to split it. When took off the top end and everything I thought the piston would move freely up and down. Still stuck What would guess the reason? Maybe split it tomorrow. Again, what do you think I will see as the reason? Thanks!

Do you mean the crankshaft isn’t moving? Could be seized on the bearings.

@@davek5151 I am just guessing that you may have seized bearings. It could be easy, but not always....plus it adds up in expense. You may be able to find a manual online by searching.

How did you get the router to line up wit the “I” and the camshaft yo turn? My cam shaft is stiff. The only thing that moves is the outer ring. The inter ring is stuck. Would you know how I can unstick this? Also get the router to line up? Would I have to purchase a pulley set to take it off to turn it or can it turn a different way?

By chance what is the torque spec on the 4 clutch bolts with the springs and the primary drive shaft bolt?

4.3 ft/lbs on the clutch bolts. 5.8 ft/lbs for the center nut on the clutch if that's the one you're talking about.
