not many vids of engine swaps on crown vics probably because the engines rarely fails
@cheeko_9142 жыл бұрын
People are more likely to do swaps for more power.... not bwcause the motors fail. 2v 4.6's are slow as fuck.

I've gone as far as removing cylinder heads and putting everything back together and having a running vehicle. Haven't tried pulling a whole motor yet but it's on my list of things I need to learn. Thanks for making this video.

engine swaps on these are eaaasy. i pulled the motor on my nissan titan and it makes this look like a cake walk. that gives me peace of mind. as for plugs that is nothing lol, i was impressed u got the cat bolts off tho lol .

I’m about to do this with my 86. It’s easy. I way over thought it. Yes there’s a lot to unhook but it isn’t as bad hooking back up. Taking it all apart was 90% of the work. It’s harder to take apart all those bolts and clamps you did more work taking it apart then it would be putting it back together. You drop motor in make sure it’s aligned and then you can start bolting it back in and hooking up connections. It’s not as bad as your thinking I can promise that. You did most the work already on getting the old motor out.

Congrats man! It's a proud moment. I just pulled a 350 out of a GMC Yukon a couple of months ago. I'm with you dude, not the best way I have spent my precious time. But I'm hoping when the job is done it will be worth it.

you will never get that torque converter to go back in. you have to install it first and it must go all the way in, Then you will have to turn the engine once you get it stabbed and the bell housing bolted, to install the bolts to the torque converter. It is the simplethings like this that allow us mechanics to charge what we do. Its not the labor of doing it it is the know how of doing it right to prevent further damage. I like your video and it inspires me to start doing mechanic videos. I know what i am doing and can share little tips along the way to help others not make little mistakes that turn into wasted time or even worse wasted money,

Thanks for the video! I really needed to know exactly where the motor mounts attach and in what way. Thanks for showing the whole engine and where the motor mounts attach to the K-Bar.

Great video Ben, you just dissuaded me from taking on a project like this. Pulled an 1970 AMC v8 engine back in the day, and it wasn't too bad. This new stuff has way too much going on to attempt. Great info, thanks!

Very informative video. I've been turning wrenches for 45 years and have had four P71's. Good explanation of the time and effort involved just getting the engine out of the car. Life is short. The swap is a job best left for someone with the tools and the time. Crown Vics are excellent. Sorry your experience with this P7B wasn't better.

Don’t give up, man! You did a great job getting the thing outta there, so now don’t let her die. She’s on the table, prep the patient, give yourself plenty of room, line up your tools, rags, and whatever you think might help for a deliberately successful operation. I don’t think you need anyone to tell you how to go about it, but while the patient is under, go to work. I’m subscribed and following.. show us what you can do, dude! When you need a hand, one or two will show up, but not until you’re movin pretty good. That’s how that goes. Be the ball. Kick some ass. The lord hates a coward. Chicks dig scars!

I’m a 25 year auto mechanic and just started my first 2011 crown Victoria engine job. I log every component removal on a note pad. Then go in reverse order for installation. My memory not good like my twenties. Also take pictures. Im not sure how the oil pan will clear the frame. Thinking I might need to raise the body up off frame a few inches.

My Crown Vic is only lot drivable (technically. I still run it to the gas station for a coke to keep the neighbors quiet) at the moment because of the engine being bad, and I'm so far finding that swapping the engine is looking far cheaper than replacing the car. Everything else in the car is new, so it rolls nicely. I'm worried that if I get another Crown Vic, I'd have to replace all the same stuff again.
@ShaqTheBoss Жыл бұрын
You're right. If everything else is pretty much good, just swap that engine. It'll be basically a brand new car

nice video. get yourself a 5.0L with transmission from somewhere and slap it in there. then take it somewhere and have them wire it up haha. you'll have done most of the work yourself already and won't cost nearly as much.

Wowww you must have a lot of patience to do this. You have to be a very flexible and agile person to be able to do this. I always wanted to do this, but a spine problem that I have keeps making me think twice about doing it and I would ask myself the same thing at the end after reinstalling another engine, did I leave anything out? . Your video is super interesting. You are awesome. Thank you for showing us a beautiful and cool job !!!!

Very nice job. Sorry this happened but a real issue with former police cars. Watching police chase videos here on KZbin, l'm surprised that many of them didn't throw a rod during the chase. Good luck with the project.

I got a 2000 crown Vic p71 wirh the interceptor engine. It’s gonna need a engine replacement it’s about to blow a rod. I was wondering if I need to swap it with a p71 specific motor or if I can just buy a 4.6 out of a town car or grand marquis?

never pull the torque converter like that. You want to turn the flywheel and remove the tc bolts. This will cause damage to the Transmission Oil pump. You might want to inspect that tranny and make sure you didnt ruin that pump. l

What did you ever do with this car? Do you still have it? Or do you still have any parts from it.
@benhaynes11533 жыл бұрын
Yes I still have the car. I have been putting it out. I have all the body parts, most of the interior, the broken engine, and what not. I have sold the front axle assembly, wheels and tires, and some other odds and ends.

I’d do anything for that rolling chasis, I wand to put a 5.7 hemi in a crown. a vvt is more difficult but offers more hp and torque high and low end.

train your memory. if you can memoryze the order of the assembry then you can do it. because you have the skills and the knowledge but you just and JUST do not remember how to assembly it. you are not stupid. just try to remember and when you remember then you can fo it very good.
