Am I wrong, but I'm just sure that Jon Kaase won one of the original engine masters with a 10.5" deck height 351/400M at around 400 inches? Yes, it was 2008.

Greg Brown is brilliant. Not only is he a great engine builder, he’s a first class individual as well. He’s also very meticulous. He built for me what typically would have been a pretty ordinary ~750 hp street 496 bbc. It made just over 850 hp, due to the attention to detail by Greg. Hammerhead Performance Engines is the real deal.

It's amazing that you can take an almost 60 year old design, and put it through a test like this, the SBF is so over looked from a design stand point other than it's cast iron design, and two bolt main, it's base design could easily exist in today's modern cars.

Identical bore and stroke to a 392 Chrysler ( 4.0 x 3.9 ). The 392 ( all of the early engine series ) Chrysler is designed around the requirements of the valvetrain to actuate the rocker arms reliably ( lifter and pushrod angles ). Retrofitting existing inline valve engines to an opposed valve head is usually difficult . It sounds like this may be a success story.

It would be awesome if Engine Masters had a class for your younger everyday guys like 30yo max and everyone has to build the same motor like a 350 or a 5.3s N/A with a 383 max ci, carb or efi with all off the shelf parts no crazy exotic or billet stuff, no extra cnc porting on the heads only hand porting, fuel is kinda tuff to pick a fuel so I would say anything but m5 and m3 so if you run alcohol m1 is your only choice. have some body to check the parts and and give the guys and gals 3 days to assemble it, so you basically show up with your block & parts and plan of attack and throw it together and party! it would be awesome to run turbo,blower and nitrous setups but in a dyno competition like that it would be a pain in the ass and take for ever to setup and run several different turbo motors on the dyno, the only power adders that would be easier to get on and off the dyno would be screw/roots blowers and nitrous Maybe centrifugal but that's not fair for us turbo guys

There must have been some other limitations in the rules. Maybe cam lift ? Or comp. ratio ? Don't take this the wrong way when I say that 770 mark is not all that. I have friend that did a 383 ci Boss 351. And it used the Boss 351 4 bolt block. It was bored and stroked to 383ci. The combo takes care of the rod to stroke ratio in the Clev. The bottom halve of the water jackets were filled in to strengthen up the block. They used the D1 Boss 351 castings. Raised the exhaust floor and ran a Hogan sheet metal intake . CR. was over 14- 1. Big custom ground Lunatic Roller. On race gas it made over 920hp @9400 rpm. My friend worked for Dick Maskin @ Dart products in Troy Mi. No hemi heads, and less cid. So there must have been other limitations we aren't privy to. I'm very curious as to the flow # on those hemi heads. Because I know what those D1 heads flowed. Those are the cast iron models to which the C3 Yates heads came from. Not hard to See 320 cfm on the intake ex. Will roll 242 cfm with out a lot of massaging.

@danielwilson6665
@danielwilson6665 Жыл бұрын
@@tonnyletkeman2348 … The Race Engine Challenge rules do place restrictions on all builds. They use a power per cubic inch grading system which would be a disadvantage for larger strokers in most cases and the rules don’t allow unlimited compression. Greg’s engine won with 50 points more than the 2nd. place finisher. His conservative 393 inch build made 775 peak horsepower with 622 lb/ft of torque. Average horsepower was 642. That was the inaugural Race Engine Challenge event held during October of 2018. However, during earlier dyno testing in June of 2017 at Charlie Pepper’s shop here in Georgia, the results were very impressive. Greg built a 427 featuring his Ford Hammerheads with stock sized 2.200 intake, 1.650” exhaust valves on a World Products 9.5” deck height Windsor type block along with a single 1250 cfm Dominator style carb. It made 928 horsepower @ 7700 rpm’s and 674 torque @ 6300 rpm’s. Not too shabby and there’s more available. The dyno data indicated the 1250 carb and intake manifold was causing a restriction and a power loss. A 1450 carb with a CHI intake manifold would easily pick up 40 more horsepower. I don’t know if any port work had been done on the heads. In their out of the box as-cast condition, they will flow 392 intake and 275 cfm exhaust. With typical porting they flow 462 intake and 320 cfm exhaust so there’s a potential for much more power. Check this out for more info. hammerheadperformanceengines.com

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party and Gretas FFF Inc. gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. so beware of expensive cars today they will be forbidden and worthless tomorrow!!!! :-(((

He "developed" a Chrysler "Gen 3" (5.7 and 6.4 liter) "Hemi" head that fits on a "Ford small-block" with a 350 Chevy bore size which is a damn sight easier than it sounds since the bore centers are within a quarter inch of each other. If only that "small block Ford" had the wall thickness to go another .090" over he could have "destroked" that "Ford Hemi" to 3.76" and built a real 6.4 Hemi "clone". 4 head bolts/studs per cylinder and 4 inch bores and 4.25-4.50 bore-center "small blocks" due tend to result in lots of "race engines" in that "400 cubic inch area" especially given that "real" race engines that have to produce real high performance for hours rather than minutes or seconds at a time are ALL "small blocks". And that included Ford's supposed "big-block" 427 engines at Le Mans when "Ford beat Ferrari" with a "big-block Ford" that like ALL "big-block Fords" EVER had/has "small-block" combustion chamber volume. At least CHEVY small-block "truck motor" combustion chamber volume. Meaning in that "70cc area". Jon Kaase and anyone he has ever "mentored" are GREAT at "developing" ways to apply "Brand X" (i.e. the "competition" at the other two of the "Big 3") engine technology and components and architecture and...engineering to "Ford" engines WHILE "creatively interpreting" the "rules" and "beating" the "competion" that typically and traditionally is...or rather was..."mom and pop" engine shops and/or "college kids" looking to "make a name for themselves" in legitimate competition with time and money and technology "budgets" and "creative license" not one tenth as "generous" of Kaase and whatever supposed "customer" he claims his "build" is intended for the "street car" of. His "Ford Y-block" with more "Chevy" in and on it started breaking the camel's back and his "Ford MEL" so-called "build" with "in cylinder combustion chambers" (his attempt to "clone" the Chevy "Mark 1" big-block 348's "flat head" - no chamber in the head at all - and "wedge" chamber in the cylinder "architecture" as the 348 and 409 were the first naturally-aspirated automobile engines in history to make "1 hp per cubic inch") was the straw that shattered its back and LONG after that assclown should have "retired" from what was ALWAYS intended to be an "amateur engine builder" competition.
