Great video! Personally I always try to wash in the shade so that I dont get water spots. I use a grid guard in my dirty bucket to remove any sort of dirt/debris from my wash mit. I also prefer to use a foam cannon to apply a nice thick layer of soap on the entire body, but for quick washes this is not always possible to drag out the pressure washer. For drying, I prefer to use a battery powered leaf blower with a soft brisled end on the hose tube. Gets all the water off and eliminates having to use a towel to dry.

It’s actually best practice to wash your vehicle every two weeks at the minimum if to prolong the coating. I wouldn’t dare leave a car unwashed with a coating for weeks on end. Also a grit guard in your dirty bucket would be beneficial.

Great video David! Thank you. Do you have a perspective on whether an automated car wash is effective in protecting your cars paint? Is there any significant reason not to have my car exterior cleaned bi-weekly at a car wash besides cost? (Not it’s not 100% hand washed)

For the roof, I open one door at a time and stand on the door sill, with one hand holding the grab handle while the other hand is applying soap or rinsing with water. This saves standing on a stool or chair which can move on you. Also l like how you don’t use a high pressure washer, which can force water into sealed areas causing rust many years later.

Whether 2 or 3 bucket methods, ALWAYS wash your car under shade when the surface is not hot. Wheels are the most dirty part to wash, but since I switch all pads to Akebono, they generate much less dust and are much easier to clean.

Good lord, a lot of people really don't know how to wash a car. I started using that TW ceramic wash but hated that it didn't make any suds. Also, I think it leaves a ceramic film when it's rinsed off. That could mask the properties of your graphene coating. You really want a soap that doesn't leave anything behind like carpro reset. Good video though. I did my own graphene ceramic coating and top it off after every wash.

@jlucguerrier2 ай бұрын
Depend how long you plan to keep the car. Ppf is great until you have to remove it. That's a nightmare. Ceramic doesn't protect against chips but it's easy to put on and take off.

Now that you have a grahene or ceramic coating. You should learn how to do a rinsceless wash. Just as good results in half the time without using your hose. There are many You tube video's on this. However, it will not work with a real dirty vehicle. - I would have done a rinse less wash on your Landcruiser. Also, you could use a topper like Amplify by Armour Supply that lasts 2 months. It will protect your coating and gloss it up a notch. Rinseless wash also is good way to wash your vehicle in above freezing temperatures.
@jlucguerrier2 ай бұрын
Rinseless isn't better than a traditional wash but it's definitely faster.

Each to his own but for me it is just a car a tool to get me from point A to B no more and no less. I have a 2024 Lexus RX350 and a 2024 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition because I like to be safe and comfortable as possible. I just take them to the auto car wash when I get the time. I have much better things to do than polish my vehicles. We don't drive very much since we are retired so that is one reason but we are just not that caring about the cars. When we did wash our cars we just hosed them down then use a brush to soap up one section at a time with one of us soaping and the other rinsing. Lastly we did the tires and wheels and then we dried with old bathroom towels we save for these jobs. I haven't waxed in a long time since the new paints hold up fairly well. When I was younger I was fanatical about car cleaning and waxing but as I got older I have more important things to consider. Putting a lot of time and effort into a car which is going to get road dirt, bugs and dings along with inconsiderate folks who park next to me regardless of how far away I park is a waste of my valuable time. If I had a car with paint or body that didn't hold up or rust I would buy a different brand next time. By the time that it would be worn badly I will be tired of it anyway and want a new one. I always bought only what I could afford to pay cash and I have never had a car payment on something that is worth less after I finish paying for it. I was 50 years old after the kids were done with college before I could afford to buy a new car or truck with cash. The worst investment in the world is a car which depreciates every year.

"Reapplication of ceramic coat in 1 year"? That's not true. A true ceramic coating can last more than a year, a decontamination wash every year is probably what you meant.
@AutomotivePress2 ай бұрын
Not re-application of the ceramic coating. There is a "refresh" version you use to rejuvenate the original coating that needs to be used once a year.
@TheBreakfastLover2 ай бұрын
@@AutomotivePress in that case you're referring to a ceramic topper. Some require that to maintain warranty but not all.

@georgetown89862 ай бұрын
