Hands down Engineering any day especially if you are going to be a first generation Doctor and you are from a middle class family. Your entire youth till 35 will go into establishing yourself and after that neither you will be able to fully enjoy the money you make neither your parents. P.S I am doing my residency.

The disparity in CTC and in-hand salaries of Engineers is a matter of concern. Considering that i think healthcare field takes time but pays you back in later life with tons of monetary benefits

Engineering is best for Fast money and settled life style only con is after a certain age retirement is there plus stagnation after a period of time.. Doctor on the other hand has no retirement from clinical practice plus no stagnation but con is huge period from MBBS to MD/MS and frustration after one doesn't get the desired branch also less family time and least holidays during student life..also the amount of money investment is in crores

I don't know about the numbers in Metros. I have experience of just 1 year post MS Ortho. I work in a Tier 3 city. I have started practising just 6 months back. I make anywhere between 2.5-2.8L per month already. I know a few peers ,who started immediately after MS, making >3L/m A guy 5 year senior to me is making roughly 7.5L/Pm Another 7 year senior is making ~10L/pm. You need to grind. You need to tap the small cities.
